I don't even know how I'd propose but I can count on my spontaneity and innovative wits.

How about something simple like : She comes over to your place, asks you what's for lunch, you direct her to the kitchen to help herself to the pot of rice. She opens it with a ladle to scoop the rice and viola! - a ring in its case is in the pot, with no rice of course. Now imagine the way she'd scream for joy.

Or she's all dressed to go out and I add the ring to her necklace before she leaves. It doesn't dawn on her yet until she's checking out her reflection in the mirror and then slowly, ever so slowly, she sees it. The look on her face would be priceless!

Late Anene Utazi died on Feb. 25, days after he was wounded at Ladipo Market, Mushin following the clash between security agents and traders during a protest against alleged extortion by hoodlums.

Ladipo Market President-General, Mr Kingsley Ogunor who narrated how Utazi died said the 27-year-old sustained injuries from matchet cuts on his head and a gunshot on his right muscle on February 18. He fell into a coma and died a week later.

Ogunor had urged the Inspector-General of Police (IG), AIG Zone 2 and the state Commissioner of Police to fish out the killers of the late Utazi, adding that so far no arrest had been made.

"The magnitude of these cases and its emotional outburst is not one to be swept under the carpet for us to achieve a serene environment. As we remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, we have explicit confidence in the Nigeria Police force in discharging their constitutional duties,’" he said.

Ogunor accused one Ijoba, a cemetery attendant, of fomenting the trouble that led to the death of Utazi. A Federal high court sitting in Abuja has granted embattled former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, bail in the sum N2bn and two sureties in the sum of N1bn each. Delivering judgement at the hearing of his bail application today March 10th, the presiding judge, Justice Okon Abang, ordered Badeh to deposit his International passport at the court. He also ruled that the sureties must be residents of Abuja.

Badeh is standing trial for the misappropriation of N1.1 billion meant for the Nigeria Airforce and also for being involved in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.

Former Super Eagles and Everton FC Captain, Joseph Yobo gathered Nigeria’s football legends as he officially announced his retirement from football after being capped 100 times for the country and playing top flight football for over a decade.

He announced his upcoming testimonial march billed for the Portharcourt stadium on the 27th of May, 2016 which will attract former Everton and Manchester United manager, David Moyes; Manchester United Forward, Wayne Rooney; Manchester City midfielder, Kolo Toure and three times African Footballer of the year, Didier Drogba among other top footballers.

Present at the announcement were Nigeria greats Jay-Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Taribo West, Peter Rufai, Victor Ikpeba and Henry Nwosu, Ifeanyi Udeze along with former coaches Christian Chukwu, Shaibu Amodu, Augustine Eguavoen and Fanny Amun.

The event was also attended by veteran sports journalists and pundits.

Former PSG and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Okocha while speaking on Yobo, stated that,
“It is not easy to play 100 games for your country and the fact that Yobo was the first to reach that mark says a lot about him as a player.”
Yobo began his career at non-league Michelin FC in Port Harcourt, before leaving for Standard Liege in Belgium. He went on to play for Marseille, Everton, Fenerbahce and Norwich and captained Nigeria to African Nations Cup success in 2013.

Following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, NJC, and the approval of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Tuesday, March 8, swore in Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra as the Substantive Chief Judge of the state.

Governor Wike advised the judiciary not to be influenced by the antics of politicians, saying that that they must uphold the rule of law at all times.

Performing the Swearing in of Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra who is an indigene of Edo State, Governor Wike charged judges of the Rivers State Judiciary to be courageous in their dispensation of justice in line with the tenets of the law.

The Governor assured the Judiciary that he will continue to support the arm of government to dutifully serve the people of Rivers State. He noted that he worked towards the emergence of the substantive Chief Judge on the premise of laid down precedents and traditions, despite the petitions by some persons against Justice Iyayi-Lamikanra on the basis that she is not an indigene of the state.

“Judges should not allow politicians to manipulate them to cause crisis in the judiciary. ” Governor Wike said.
The Governor also said that he has sworn to oath of office to always do what is right.

“They claimed that this administration not allow non-indigenes to breath. They said if we are voted in , we will chase non-indigenes away. But I believe in the laid precedent and the promotion of the best practices in governance “.
Governor Wike said those opposed to the emergence of Justice Iyayi-Lamikanra on the premise that she is not an indigene of Rivers State, must realise that she was appointed Magistrate and Judge in the state without anyone raising questions on her state of origin.


He added that though the arms of government must work independently, there must be cooperation for the development of the state. The governor urged Justice Iyayi-Lamikanra to carry her brother-judges along for stability in the judiciary.

Responding, the newly sworn in Substantive Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra assured the people of Rivers State that she would dispense justice in line with the law.
She said that she will ensure that the Rivers State Judiciary develops to the envy of others in the country.
