drisham: You guys don't get tired of hoping on this guy nobody in that team plays like him not even Caicedo. Lavia and Caicedo together will offset the poor Enzo's defensive weakness and make the midfield balanced Lavia just makes Caicedo look better |

Ibime: Even if he's fit, he won't play ahead of £115m investment he can play DM then Enzo and Caicedo can complete the midfield three..at least it's safer than just using Caicedo and Enzo alone |

So I don't want any excuse if our porous midfield lets us down
I won't call names before they say it's agenda If Lavia remains fit we are in otherwise we remain a cup side |

Amethyst101: Looking at our fixture list again, can we say we have a sort of a good headstart??
An do we have the resilience to keep going at the business end of the season when it really matters to show up??
Those season-ending fixtures can be a problem if we end up challenging on multiple fronts though I think the champions League winner makes more money than the EPL winner Knowing Clearlake better they would instruct Maresca to go for the trophy having the greater reward (like they did with the CWC) Funny enough Clearlake cares more about profit first before any other thing so that will be a big factor by the end of next season |

Capaldi: Just rewatching the final and from a tactical point Maresca was 100% spot on. That was a tactical masterclass, never knew he had it in him after that disaster he pulled against City at the Etihad. The role Neto and gusto played was soo crucial. Hopefully it's not a one off. The chances Jackson missed at the Etihad would be scored by Pedro. The mistakes committed by Chalobah wouldn't be done by a better CB. It's all down to personnel. |

But I sure know that we will be fighting for the title...especailly with this CWC triumph sinking a winning mentallity into our boys, who were never used to levels like this. Bayern won’t need a striker Chelsea won’t need a striker Mancity won’t need a striker He won’t go to Man U Liverpool wont need a striker Real Madrid won’t need a striker Inter Milan won’t need a striker
Julian Alvarez is the potential replacement for lewandowski who is on his last season ,unless this changes unless Pedro flops at Chelsea and Chelsea chose to sign him I see him ending up in Saudi league. Madrid/PSG won't want to pay the fee Newcastle will demand either |

Bluelines69: Ekitike has his job cut out for him, even Liverpool fans are not happy cause that’s the end of the Isak talks, Isak needs to move with sense sha, he’d be 26 in two months and an injury prone player, make e no go end for Newcastle las las Isak will end like Harry Kane if he doesn't make that big move this year or next year. |

Bluelines69: I like as this Gittens deal is going under the radar, giving same vibes as well we bought Palmer, he’ll cook Gittens will cook.I check his stats and he scored 80% of the big teams he played against last season. Add to his dribbling and ability to cut inside from the left and shoot then we have a player in our hands. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Caicedobets(m): 11:30pm On Jul 15, 2025 |
Griffon: That attack can go all the way to win you the title.
Palmer (Estevao) -> Joao Pedro (Delap) -> Neto (Gittens)
That defense still needs some reinforcements. Heard we are tying up a deal for Hato, that’s one boy that can come in for Cucurella anytime albeit he looks pretty good playing as a LCB.
Despite our good outing at the CWC, I have little faith in our CB options. The league is a marathon and I can’t honestly trust what we have in that area to stay rock solid all season. I’ve always wanted Guehi here.
James (Gusto) -> Guehi (Chalobah) -> Colwill (Tosin) -> Cucurella (Hato)
The CM position is looking good with the additions of Santos and Essugio. If Maresca will listen and stick to three in the middle, then we need to sort Lavia’s condition out by either moving him or fixing him forever.
Enzo (Essugio) -> Caicedo (Santos) -> Camavinga (KDH)
Don’t touch Robert Dida Sanchez.
Solid core with a decent squad depth than can handle the league, Cups and UCL. Lavia's availability will determine if we are going to be challenging for the league or we become a "cup team" like Tuchel's Chelsea Enzo's lack of athleticism in tracking back will remain the weak point of the team if Maresca attempts to go with a midfield two(Caicedo-Enzo) which will leave the midfield open to counterattacks (Caicedo alone can't be doing two men's work week in week out). The inverting of full back idea either won't be a long term solution as we saw how it limits Gusto's overlapping ability ( as we saw in the CWC final). Also our center backs lack genuine world class potential. We saw last season how the likes of Chalobah and Tosin were averagely inconsistent which contributed to the slipping out of the title race. Our best centre back Fofana is always injured so Colwill, despite all his improvements, can't do it alone. We should not allow the emotions of winning the CWC cloud over the fact that our center backs combo is still behind the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal so at best expect Maresca to keep coming up with intermittent solutions every now and then till we either sort out Fofana and Lavia fitnesses. Verdict: Liverpool and Arsenal should still finish ahead of Chelsea |

I now understand why Maresca has been reluctant to play this pressing game throughout last season Everyone can see how the high physical demands made Enzo James and even JP to either pick injuries or get gassed out.
Looking at the Chelsea midfield perhaps just Caicedo Neto and Palmer can survive this physically demanding high press.
Its now clear to me that the likes of James Lavia Enzo and probably JP would fare better in a possession based approach ( otherwise injuries would be surplus) |

Ibime: More likely is collect Camavinga + £50m for Enzo since Madrid have shown interest and Alonso has not been making space for Camavinga. This solves Caicedo partner and Cucurella back up at LB in one move if Clearlake could sell Madueke for 52M I think they want at least 80M for Enzo Also Camavinga's wages might be issue.Same reason Osihmen was rejected |

Crystal Palace that kept dragging Olise with us for two months and finally sold to Bayern. Brighton know us as regular customers now so it will be easier to negotiate JP deal was done in 3 days. |
