EducationUNILORIN VC Says Other Universities Should Embrace CBT by calebians1(op): 2:09am On Jun 06, 2015
The Vice-Chancellor, University of
Ilorin, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, has said
that universities in the country may
review their position on the post-Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Examination if the
current computer-based examination
conducted by JAMB continues to be
efficient.

He made this known during an
interactive session with journalist.
According to him, “The University of Ilorin
was the first to start CBT and I am glad
that it is being embraced nationwide,
especially by JAMB.

“So, let us give JAMB a couple of trials and
once the board restores confidence in
the system, many universities may review
the need for their post-JAMB. But in the
meantime, we will continue to watch
JAMB to see how consistent it would be
in handling its CBT.”

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Leicester City - Chelsea Today By 7:45pm by calebians1(op): 5:51pm On Apr 29, 2015
The Premier League leaders are closing in on the
title and take on Nigel Pearson's side who have
given their survival hopes a huge boost with four
straight victories

Jose Mourinho expects Leicester City to retain their
Premier League status, as he prepares to take his
Chelsea side to the King Power Stadium on
Wednesday.

Leicester have been resurgent in recent weeks,
stringing together four consecutive wins to climb
from the foot of the table to outside the relegation
zone.

Saturday's 1-0 win at fellow strugglers Burnley
lifted them to 17th, a point clear of danger,
although they now face a much sterner test in the
shape of the league leaders.

Chelsea's 0-0 draw at Arsenal at the weekend
means they cannot clinch a fourth Premier League
crown on Wednesday, although it is seemingly
only a matter of time for Mourinho's men.

"I think they are going to survive," the Portuguese
said. "I was surprised with their bad position
because they're a good team with good players.
"I'm not surprised they are out of the relegation
zone and I will not be surprised when they keep in
the division. They are playing well and the results
are coming.

"We are never complacent, we know that they are a
good team and they are a difficult opponent."
Wednesday's clash also gives Mourinho the chance
to reunite with Leicester midfielder Esteban
Cambiasso, whom he worked with during a
successful spell at Inter.

"I won the treble with Cambiasso, he was
fundamental to my golden team and he is one of
the players that means a lot to me," Mourinho
said.
"He is being phenomenal for them and I'm very
happy for him."

Mourinho continues to have doubts over Diego
Costa (hamstring) and Loic Remy (calf), although
Oscar should be in contention after taking a blow
to the head against Arsenal.
For Leicester, David Nugent (calf) and Jeffrey
Schlupp (knock) remain doubtful.
Despite their superb form during April, manager
Nigel Pearson knows there is still plenty of work
ahead.
"It's been very satisfying to get four wins and it
gives us a realistic chance," he said. "The only
thing that matters is that we're out on the bottom
three after 38 games. To do that we have to
remain focused.
"There is still a lot of football to be played. Every
game now has something riding on it. There's lots
left to do.
"We want to try to win this next game. It will be
hard against Chelsea, but there's no reason not to
look at it positively.

"Chelsea will be strong on Wednesday. We expect
them to be at their best and we have to be at our
best. Throughout the season our fans have
remained positive, but in the last few games in
particular, they have inspired us."
PoliticsUNILORIN VC Seeks Adoption Of E-voting Innational Elections by calebians1(op): 2:56am On Jan 14, 2015
:
Barely seven months after the University of Ilorin
Students’ Union successfully pioneered the use of
electronic voting in the country, another student
organisation in the institution, the Unilorin
Postgraduate Students Association (POGSASS),
has also pulled through a similar feat.

Following these pioneering efforts, the Vice-
Chancellor of the University, Prof. AbdulGaniyu
Ambali (OON), has advocated the adoption of the
electronic voting system for national elections in
the country.

Prof. Ambali made the recommendation last
Monday (January 5, 2014) during the swearing in
of the new POGSASS Executive Committee
members elected last December through the
electronic voting system.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor
(Management Services), Prof. Yisa Fakunle, the
Vice-Chancellor noted that Nigeria is ripe for e-
voting, saying that the simplicity of the system,
which Unilorin has successfully used twice, easily
recommends it for use at the national level.

Prof. Ambali said, “Nigeria is ripe for e-voting. The
University of Ilorin has done it twice. If units within
a country can successfully do it, there is no
reason why we cannot do it nationally.

He pointed
out that the national electoral body, the
Independent National Electoral Commission (ÍNEC),
“can come and see how we do it and see the one
that is applicable to them.”

EducationPharmaceutical Council Of Nigeria Inducts 112 UNN Pharmacy Graduates by calebians1(op): 12:12pm On Dec 15, 2014
About 112 pharmacy graduates of the University of
Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu State, have been
inducted into the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria
(PCN) during an oath taking ceremony held on
Saturday.

The Registrar of PCN, Mr Elijah Mohammed,
charged the new pharmacists to pay attention to
saving lives, instead of mad rush to make money.
He said the council was putting measures in place
to ensure that before 2016, registration of members
would be online so as to monitor the activity of
every pharmacist in the country.
Mohammed regretted that some members, through
their unethical acts, were painting the image of the
profession black.

In his remarks, the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy,
Prof. Chinedu Ibezim, said the pharmacy profession
was going through a period of positive
transformation by trying to key into her proper
place in the health sector.

He congratulated the newly inducted graduates on
the feat of becoming members of PCN and
announced Miss Nkiruka Ibeanu as the overall best
graduating student.
