The likes of Makere University in Uganda and University of Ibadan in Nigeria ranked higher than any of Ghana’s institutions.

University Of Ibadan Which is Nigeria’s highest ranking University occupies the 16th position in Africa and the 1335th position in the world meanwhile, Covenant University Otta, Nigeria’s second ranking university comes in at number 24th in Africa and 1788th in the world

No Nigerian or Ghanian University has been able to make it to the top 10 universities in Africa according to the latest rankings released by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings

The University of Ghana Legon, which has always remained Ghana’s best bet this time round, slipped to the 21st position in the latest ranking in best performing universities in Africa and 1655th in the world.


Meanwhile Kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology which has been the second ranking University in Ghana for a long time comes in at number 35th in Africa and 2147th ranking University in the World.

All Nations University College ranked 842th in Africa and 19748th in the world while Koforidua Technical University ranked 510th in Africa and 15190th in the world.

The top half of the League is dominated by South African universities among which are University of South Africa and University of Johannesburg.
