Edoblakky: Thanks OP for this insightful piece! I have more than 5 years experience as a mechanical engineer in the oil and gas industry. I'm opting for a masters in my field of experience in a university in Canada. It will cost me around 10Million Naira to run the program for 2 years(tuition, feeding, accommodation and transportation). I chose Canada because there are so many jobs there that require my experience and I also need to sharpen my skills and competences with the masters program. They require a CGPA of 3.0/4 in your last 2 years of Bachelor's. Judging from the Nigerian scenario, which of medicne/surgery and Chemical engineering wud u advice yur bro to study in the uni. Assuming that he has passion for both field... |

Education › Re: The Notorious Ekosodin Village Uniben by Capableben(m): 12:13am On Dec 26, 2014 |
Unibentested: I came across this Display picture today and remembered My stay in the notorious Ekosodin Uniben during my undergraduate days and decided to share this experience...Date was December 23rd 2002. Location Ekosodin off campus Uniben.
I was walking down to my cousins hostel to give him a letter for my Dad since he was travelling back home the next day when I saw this pretty Skin (a term we uniben boys use for a pretty girl) walk into a hostel by the roadside. Like a normal Congilised Lagos boy schooling in Uniben, forming fine-boy and staying offcampus, armed with no money in the pocket and plenty wash-wash Pickup lines, I walked in and looked around for her, to no avail.
I went outside, sat down and waited patiently like a vulture for her to come outside. Next thing I saw two barrel chested guys walk out of the hostel towards me. They asked me what I was doing sitting there and I told them I was waiting for someone. Till date, I still wonder what happened to me that I did not tell them a thousand other lies, like my favourite 'Am Ashmatic' line I always used back then in the boarding house whenever I wanted to dodge washing for seniors.
Anyway to cut the long story short, one of them immediately told me, "so You nor see were to sidan wait na front of our Number one hostel you see!" As I tried to explain, I received two Slaps simultaneously. I recall counting a dozen other slaps and remember telling them my course of study when they asked me what was my discipline (only to find out later that they actually meant what cult I belonged to?).
After everything, I was stripped my ID card, keys and little cash and told to go and bring two crates of beer. Omo, I leave the ID card for them, next day I carry my bag run go Lagos go swear affidavit say armed robbers collect my wallet with ID card.
A friend of mine had a more terrible experience. He visited Ekosodin from BDPA where he lived for the first time and slept over in a girls house, unknown to him, a neighbour of the girl who was a cultist was eyeing the girl seriously.
All through the night as he was busy bursting her jerry can, He kept hearing footsteps outside. He called a friend of his who adviced him to leave there very early that Ekosodin was a really bad place, so he packed his stuff and told her he was leaving as early as 4.30 am only to see a bike man waiting outside the gate, as he was about to pass, two guys came out from nowhere and asked him to climb the bike.
Even in the darkness he did not need a soothsayer to tell him they had guns. He climbed the bike and they took him to the notorious Ekosodin Primary school. Where he saw about 40 other boys, sitting and smoking all forms of lung cancer enhancing things. He came down from the bike and knelt down as asked,as he was receiving the signature Ekosodin slaps, He heard someone from the crowd shout his name followed by "wetin you dey do here?"
He looked up and recognized a guy who was 4years his senior in back then in primary school and coincidentally his Mother's student back then as his mum was a teacher in the same primary school. In a harsh commanding tone the guy immediately asked them to free him and told the same bike-man to go and drop him at the school back gate whilst warning him never to visit the girl again.
They say Teachers blessings are in Heaven. That day Heaven gave Him part of His mother's blessings because those Ekosodin boys for Use him face do Slap competition.
Where My Uniben peeps on this forum? Share your Ekosodin, BDPA, Osasogie experiences. Peeps from Other schools are welcome to share theirs too. Will share more later. Merry Xmas My people. Guy how can i possibly change to Uniben from MY school(fut? |

kbshow100: I will consider your list incomplete if you didn't mention space bookers(especially if the hall Have AC),,they will book the space and go out gisting with friends and will later come to pick their reading material without reading a single word. Some of our naairalanders learn space booking from school,,that is they never stop Lol, Are you from one of those American school? in my school, we have no ACs in halls... lol |
Education › People You'll Meet In A Typical Nigeria University Reading Class by Capableben(op): 9:03am On Dec 05, 2014 |
Are you an undergraduate in any Nigerian university? if yes, do you frequently go to class to read at night? If yes, then you can affirm these observations of mine about the kinds of people/characters that one meets in class. You can add any one you think should also make the list...
1)OUTRIGHT NOISEMAKERS: This people are crazy people that come to the class just to make noise. They come with a pile of books as though they would diligently study them but eventually end up discussing loudly with colleagues..
2)LOVERS: These ones see the class as a ‘love garden”. They ignore cafes and other romantic places they could conveniently hook up for the reading classrooms. They place books in front of them in mere pretence when their main objective is entirely averse to reading. Their contemptible activities tend to distract other people studying in the same class .
3) Gamers: People can be so childish and crazy when given a leeway. These people come to the class with their PC just to play games (e.g FIFA). Its so annoying the way they distract even the serious ones. Succinctly, I would say that gamers are selfish people.
4)DOZERS: LOL! These ones are the funniest, they go to class enthusiastically with intention to read hard but in a minute time sleep takes over them. Some of them even snore hard. They are very common in my university.
5) HUNTERS: Males are the principal subjects here; they come to class with an unflinching motive to check out for pretty girls they can hook up with. You will see them peeping through class windows and taking glances at peoples faces.. guys can be naughty you know.
6)”THE LADY’S TEACHER”: He is a guy that you hardly see reading on his own. He only comes to class to teach girls (beautiful) maths or any other complex course. You see him with Ada today, Aisha tomorrow and Funke next tomorrow…
7) CHAT KINGS/QUEENS: Yes, they make it to class with their books, open them and place them before them on the desk. Then they pick up their phones and start chatting. Eventually, one would realize that they barely read a page of their book. They act as though they were compelled to come to class to read.
Add yours..... |
Politics › Is Nigeria Still United?? by Capableben(op): 10:37pm On Dec 03, 2014 |
Am I the only one that has observed that Nigeria is already divided As a internet freak, I want to assert blatantly that Nigeria is already divided literally, what remains is just the officialization. Haba!! We have through sentiments cultivated hatred for each other that we now define peoples personality by their religious affiliation, Tribe or state.. This is utterly pathetic. This is nothing new, we that frequently visit these social media(fb, 2go, etc) get to come face-face with Discrimination and the hatred that Nigerians have for each other... I invariably feel like weeping when ever I log into my 2go account and enter the religion section... Mehn, its just indescribable.. Politics has rendered our religions useless.. with all the e-wars I have witnessed, i have concluded intrinsically that my country is nearing its doom! (God forbid) Is Nigeria really one Are we still united #Advocate4OneNaija |
