“Sir, my mum runs a small provision shop. She uses a fintech bank, and one day I saw her monthly inflow - over ₦400,000. But the money inside the account was not up to that at all.
With this new tax starting January 2026, I’m scared it will affect her because everything is in her personal name.”

THIS is how many small business owners will enter wahala next year.

Not because they are making millions…

But because they are doing business the wrong way.
And the new 2026 tax system does not forgive ignorance.

Let me break it down in a way even your grandma in the village will understand.

FIRST, LET ME TELL YOU THE TRUTH NOBODY IS TELLING SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

If you operate your business with your PERSONAL ACCOUNT…

You will be taxed under Personal Income Tax (PIT).

And according to Nigerian tax laws:

Anyone who earns above ₦800,000 per year is taxable.

(That is just ₦66,000 per month.)

So even if you are selling pure water, chin chin, provisions, thrift, POS, tailoring, baking…
Once your inflow crosses ₦800k in 12 months…

FIRS will classify it as PERSONAL INCOME.

And from January 2026, transaction monitoring will be STRICTER than ever.

BUT LET ME TEACH YOU WHAT THE RICH DO, AND WHAT YOUR MOTHER SHOULD DO IMMEDIATELY

If your mum can make ₦400k monthly inflow…

She is no longer a “small” businesswoman o.
She is a micro business owner, and she needs structure.

Step 1 - Register a Business as a Limited Liability Company (LTD)

Not “business name”.
Not “enterprise”.
A full Limited Liability Company.

Why?

Because under the new tax rules:

Companies with turnover below ₦100m pay ZERO company income tax.

Let me repeat that:

If your company makes below ₦100 million a year, you are COMPLETELY exempted from company income tax.

But if you remain in your personal name?

Anything above ₦800k yearly becomes taxable.

See the difference?

Step 2 - Open TWO Corporate Accounts (Simple But Powerful Secret)

This is a strategy I only teach my students
but I will share it publicly today because many people need help.

Account 1 - SALES ACCOUNT

All customer payments enter here.
No spending.
Zero transfer for personal use.

This is your “credit” record.

Account 2 - EXPENSES ACCOUNT

Anytime you want to spend money
(rent, restocking, transport, POS charges, data, food for staff, repairs…)
you FIRST transfer money from Account 1 into this account.

This becomes your “debit” record.

Why is this strategy powerful?

Because it automatically creates a clean financial history.
Even without hiring an accountant, your bank statements do the job.

Step 3 - Keep Receipts of All Expenses

In taxation, we have:

Allowable expenses and
Disallowable expenses

If you keep receipts of your shop rent, goods purchase, transport, data, generator fuel, POS charges…

When you go to FIRS to file annual returns, your taxable profit becomes almost ZERO.

Do you see why LIMITED LIABILITY is better than PERSONAL NAME?

Step 4 - When Filing Tax, You Will Smile Because…

If your business is properly structured:

Revenue – Expenses = Taxable Profit

And because small businesses have many expenses, taxable profit is usually very small…
Mostimes ₦0.00.

That means:

NO TAX.

NO PENALTY.
NO WAHALA.

BUT IF SHE CONTINUES WITH HER PERSONAL ACCOUNT…

The fintech bank will report her inflow.
The taxman will see:

Monthly inflow ₦400,000
Yearly inflow ₦4.8 million

And from 2026, she will be taxed automatically under PIT.

No pleading.
No explanation.
No mercy.

Register your business as a Limited Liability Company

Open TWO corporate accounts

Separate personal money from business money

Keep receipts of all expenses

File annual returns (you can do it yourself at any FIRS office)

If you are already making ₦200k, ₦300k, ₦400k monthly in a personal account…

You are playing with fire.

The tax man is coming.
But with the right structure, you will be untouchable.
