CultureWho Is Superior: Alaafin Of Oyo Or Ooni Of Ife - Prof Yemi Farounbi by Captainp2(op): 7:40am On May 21, 2025
The question of whether the Alaafin of Oyo or the Ooni of Ife is the superior monarch in Yorubaland has been a source of ongoing debate and controversy. While some argue for the Ooni's spiritual and cultural authority, others point to the Alaafin's historical and political influence within the Yoruba kingdom.

Essentially, the debate revolves around the roles and historical significance of these two powerful traditional rulers.

AutosWhere Do Most Stolen Cars In Ibadan Really End Up - Iso Part Or Somewhere Else? by Captainp2(op): 8:06am On May 17, 2025
WHERE DO MOST STOLEN CARS IN IBADAN REALLY END UP - ISO PART OR SOMEWHERE ELSE?

I’ve heard a few conversations, actually from one or two people, about where stolen cars in Ibadan usually end up. Almost every time, fingers point straight at Iso Part, the popular spare parts market located at Agodi Gate, Ibadan.

Every time those conversations come to mind, I find myself asking a lot of questions: Are stolen cars really being sold inside Iso Part? Is the market involved in illegal trade, or is it all honest business? Could Iso Part actually be a hub for stolen vehicles?

The more I thought about it, the more curious I became. I even remembered that Araromi Iso Part market is located right beside Agodi Correctional Centre, a prison. You’d think being that close to such a serious place would discourage anyone from doing anything illegal. But then again, we’re all human. And when money is involved, trust becomes a luxury.

Not too long ago, I came across a post on facebook shared by Connect Ibadan , where someone named PELLER oni Laptop (@official_pell) asked a bold question:
“They use to tell me that if your car is stolen and they drive it inside that gate market that nothing on earth can make you get your car back. I didn’t believe. Is it true?”

The moment I read that, it brought back all the things I’d been hearing over time. That was the final push, I decided to investigate it myself.

I went in search of real facts. I was hoping to meet someone who had either recovered their stolen car from Iso Part or maybe someone who know someone who got arrested and confessed to buying or selling stolen vehicles in the market. But honestly, I found nothing solid. It started to feel like all those accusations might just be based on speculation, not evidence.

So, I visited Araromi Market myself on Tuesday 13th May, 2025, right after finishing my show "Gbagede Oro" on 32FM 94.9. I got to the market around 3:05 pm, moved around, mingled with people, and eventually met some of their leaders.

I even got the chance to speak with Alhaji Waheed Gbolagade, popularly known as Alh. Pele, who is currently the Aare of Araromi Iso Part Market and Environs. He’s serving a 4-year term before the next leadership rotation to a different section of the market.

Araromi Market itself is quite organized, divided into 4 major sections and 17 subdivisions. (If you want to know more about that structure, check out the full breakdown on my YouTube channel: Captain P2 Media.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCUbAyl7sWw?si=rm2fozHFOcScBq-k

During the interview, Alh. Pele strongly denied the allegations. In his words:
“We don’t sell stolen cars here. Everything is properly registered, and we don’t support or accept illegal dealings.”

You can listen to the full interview for his full response.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCUbAyl7sWw?si=rm2fozHFOcScBq-k

So, now the big question is this:
IF ISO PART ISN’T DEALING IN STOLEN CARS… THEN WHERE ARE THEY REALLY ENDING UP IN IBADAN? IF NOT ISO PART, THEN WHERE?

NB: I will also have to meet with the leadership of motor car dealers in Oyo State.

To the Federal Government: A Wake-Up Call from the Youth

The ongoing protests by Nigerian youth over the arrest of VDM and the backlash against GTBank reveal something deeper than just loyalty to an influencer, it shows a government that has failed its people.

If only you could think outside the box, you’d realize that you're sitting on a keg of gunpowder. These youth aren’t just angry about VDM. They’re angry about everything, the hardship, the lies, the lack of equity, the broken promises. They’re reacting to a system that has consistently failed them.

Out of Nigeria’s 200 million+ population, over 60% are youth. Yet many are unemployed, undereducated, and disillusioned. As the Yoruba adage says, “Omo tí a kò kọ́, ni yóó gbe ilé tí a kọ́ t’á” (a child you fail to train will one day sell the house you built). That’s where we are today.

These youth no longer trust their leaders. Many now see VDM, not government institutions, as their voice, their defender, even their messiah. Why? Because in their eyes, he speaks the truth you refuse to tell. He confronts injustice you choose to ignore.

On my radio program, Gbagede Oro on 32FM 94.9 this morning, our respected elder statesman, Prof. Yemi Farounbi, former Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines and Cambodia, made a powerful point: if EFCC officials accused VDM of cyberstalking, then the EFCC itself should be investigated for allegedly stalking him too. Justice must be equal. The EFCC should already have solid evidence and act according to the law, not emotion or intimidation.

Let it be known: by failing to act transparently and fairly, you’re giving VDM more power, more sympathy, and more followers. Followers who may one day turn against the very state that ignored their cries.

Education is not a scam. Educate the youth. Provide jobs. Improve infrastructure. Hear their voices. Don’t let them become tools of destruction due to government negligence.

From what I’ve observed since this VDM, GTBank, EFCC saga began, it’s clear: the government has failed the masses. In fact, all our national leaders since 1960 have failed Nigerians.

Make urgent amends before this ticking time bomb explodes.

Defection All Over the Country

Ijede - FOOD IS READY ENTERPRISES

Just a few weeks ago, we heard that some politicians were leaving the APC for the SDP, expressing dissatisfaction with the current government. It seems like the NATIONAL CAKE didn’t get to their side. Nasir El-Rufai was among those calling for a coalition.

Now, defections are happening in the opposite direction, from PDP to APC. The current Delta State Governor, Sherif Oborevwori of the PDP, has now defected to the APC. He stated that more governors will soon follow. Also, Ifeanyi Okowa, who served as Governor of Delta State from May 2015 to May 2023 and was the Vice Presidential candidate alongside Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections, has also made the move. According to him, the decision is for the good of the people of Delta State.

Let’s not forget, Atiku choosing Okowa as his running mate was one of the reasons Nyesom Wike became aggrieved with the PDP.

Doesn’t this suggest that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu might be doing something right? If opposition politicians, some of whom were once his fiercest critics, are now switching sides, could it be that they’re seeing something positive in his leadership?

However, not everyone agrees. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who just resigned as Political Adviser to the President in the Office of the Vice President, and who also served as the former Publicity Secretary of the Northern Elders Forum, has said Nigeria cannot survive under the present leadership. He believes this administration lacks quality and competent hands. He had hoped Tinubu would correct the mistakes of Buhari’s government, but according to him, 2027 will determine whether Nigeria continues to sink under incompetence.

So, who’s telling the truth? Is it those who have always stood with Tinubu, or the ones just now joining him? Are we not at a point where Nigerians are confused about what direction to take?

In the end, it's the Nigerian people who bear the brunt of good or bad governance, especially as the 2027 elections draw near.

NB: I had this discussion earlier today on Gbagede Oro on 32FM 94.9, alongside Dr. Olumide Ademiluyi, a Public Affairs Analyst and Veterinary Doctor.

CelebritiesVERYDARKMAN ARREST: A Call For Caution And Clarity by Captainp2(op): 12:23am On May 04, 2025
This Ongoing Issue Between VDM, GTBank, and EFCC — A Call for Caution and Clarity.

The controversy involving VDM, GTBank, and the EFCC is one that requires deep reflection. Everyone needs to think critically before forming a one-sided judgment.

Initially, reports claimed that VDM was arrested inside the bank, and that GTBank had called the EFCC following his complaint about deductions from his mother’s account for a loan she never took. In reaction, a social media campaign began, encouraging customers to close their GTBank accounts. Many of VDM’s followers even posted proof of account closures.

However, a recent twist came when VDM’s brother and another individual who was with him at the time claimed that he was arrested outside the bank, right after leaving the premises. They alleged that VDM had already posted his location before EFCC operatives picked him up on allegedly cyberstalking charges.

Sahara Reporters also shared a statement from Deji Adeyanju, alleging that GTBank locked VDM inside the bank’s exit door for over five minutes to delay him and allow the EFCC to arrive and arrest him and his friend. In response, GTBank released CCTV footage to clarify their side of the story.

Now the question is: who is telling the truth? Is this issue truly about GTBank or the EFCC? The EFCC needs to come forward with a clear statement so the public can understand what really happened, before this damages GTBank’s reputation further.

At the same time, Nigerians must learn to pause, investigate, and seek solid evidence before taking actions that can harm a business or tarnish reputations. What if GTBank is eventually vindicated by VDM himself? Will those who rushed to close their accounts go back and reopen them?

Don’t let anyone play on your intelligence. Let’s not forget how VDM previously pulled a similar stunt. Back in First week of January 2025, he sparked national outrage when he claimed that N180 million was missing from his NGO’s account, only to later admit it was a prank. In his own words:

“80% of people on social media are dumb. I did it deliberately to show you people how stupid you are. No money is missing; my money is secure. I told my website guy to shut down the site so we could use people to catch cruise. Nobody asked for evidence. They just went with what was being said.”
That issue involved an account and a bank, and now, once again, it’s about a bank, GTBank, and the EFCC.

Guaranty Trust Bank & Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Is there any latest, verified update on this matter? Nigerians deserve clarity so we can all move on. For now, let’s wait, watch, and think critically.

Education85% Of Nigerian Lecturers Are Either Current Or Former Cultists - CULTIST STORY by Captainp2(op): 11:13am On Sep 27, 2024
A cult member, speaking on the harsh realities of his involvement in cultism, shared his personal journey of gains, losses, and regrets. He opened up about how his environment played a significant role in pushing him towards cultism, describing how the pressures of survival, peer influence, and societal expectations can make it difficult to resist such dangerous groups.

He highlighted that the initial appeal of joining a cult was the promise of protection, status, and power within the community. However, as time went on, the reality set in that the "gains" came at a heavy cost. He revealed how his life quickly spiraled into violence, fear, and constant tension, noting that once someone is deeply involved in cultism, it's almost impossible to escape. The ties that bind individuals to these groups are strong, often leading to lifelong consequences that many don’t anticipate at the beginning.

In a shocking revelation, he claimed that approximately 85% of Nigerian lecturers are either current or former cultists. He suggested that this reality fuels a toxic cycle of influence within educational institutions, where students may be lured into cultism by those who have held power and authority for decades. According to him, the roots of cultism run deep within the system, making it challenging to dismantle or escape its hold on students and professionals alike.

This testimony provides a glimpse into the dark world of cultism, exposing how easily one can be trapped and how deeply ingrained it is within Nigerian society.

PoliticsThe Cost Of Living Crisis: A Plea To President Tinubu - CAPTAIN P2 by Captainp2(op): 9:23pm On Aug 24, 2024
His Excellency,
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR,
The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

An Open Letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR

Dear Mr. President,

I write to you as a concerned and weary citizen of Nigeria, echoing the voices of millions who are struggling to make sense of the present reality. The nation is gripped by a deep sense of frustration and uncertainty, as the cost of living continues to skyrocket and the value of our hard-earned money diminishes daily.

During your Swaga ‘23 campaign, you promised us a renewed hope, a promise that inspired many to believe that a brighter future was on the horizon. But now, many are beginning to wonder if that hope was just a dream. Should we still be hopeful, Mr. President? When will we see the tangible changes that were promised?

Today, the price of essential goods has become almost unbearable. A Congo of rice costs ₦2,800, garri is ₦1,700, a kilogram of cooking gas is ₦1,200, and a liter of petrol fluctuates between ₦950 and ₦1,000 as today. House rents are soaring, transportation costs are climbing, and even the Nigerian passport has seen a price hike. You told us that the subsidy was gone, but where are the dividends from the NNPCL and others that were supposed to cushion this blow?

The majority of Nigerians are not happy, Mr. President. You’ve asked us to keep managing, but how can we manage when the cost of living is pushing us to the brink? While we struggle, reports emerge of you buying bulletproof cars, private jet, and billion-naira renovations to official residences and some huge spending. These actions send a troubling message to the people who entrusted you with the leadership of this great nation.

What is the way out of this crisis, Mr. President? We are tired, and we look to you for solutions. The security and welfare of Nigerians should be your top priority, not merely offering temporary relief in the form of rice handouts. We need you to address the root causes of our economic woes and restore dignity to our daily lives.

A popular comedian, Ayodeji Richard Makun, also known as AY, recently voiced the collective despair of the people when he wrote, “Being a Nigerian just gets tougher and tougher by minutes.” This is the reality for many, and it raises a crucial question: Will your presidency be remembered as a time of progress or as a period of regret?

Mr. President, you once told us not to pity you because you requested the responsibility of leading Nigeria. Yet, as things stand, it seems we are left to pity ourselves, questioning whether you have the capacity to lead us to the promised land. When will that promise be fulfilled?

We are counting on you to bring us out of this crisis and to restore hope in the hearts of Nigerians. We are tired, but we have not yet given up. Please, do something—before it’s too late.

Thank you in advance as we await the positive changes we so desperately need.

Sincerely,

Peter Olasupo Captain P2
