When checking tire pressure, always do it when the tires are cold – about three hours after parking the car. Place the air pressure gauge firmly and evenly onto the tire’s valve stem – this allows air to escape, but steady pressure will stop the air flow and give a gauge reading. Tire pressure should be checked bi-weekly, particularly during severe weather or temperature swings.

There is no definite answer as to when you should get your oil changed as it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and varies because of the road and driving conditions. When oil goes into the car at first, it is almost colorless but when it has been in the car for a while, it becomes a dark colour. This is because as you drive your vehicle, the oil gathers dust, small particles and metal pieces. Oil is needed in a vehicle’s engine to keep the various parts lubricated, but when this oil is dirty it ceases to perform this function. |
