REQUEST FOR AN OPEN PROBE INTO THE REPORTED MASSIVE FRAUD IN THE NNPC REGARDING THE CRUDE OIL SWAP PROGRAMME AND THE OFFSHORE PROCESSING AGREEMENTS (OPAs).

I am compelled to write this petition because of the recent disturbing reports in the Press about the massive looting of State resources by some unscrupulous officials of the NNPC in collusion with some local companies in the oil and gas sector. The facts as I understand them are as follows:

PoliticsJust In: Court Upholds Morsi Death Sentence Over Jailbreak by CaseFile(op): 1:39pm On Jun 16, 2015
An Egyptian court has upheld the death sentence imposed on ousted ex-President Mohammed Morsi over a mass jailbreak.

The sentence was initially passed in May, but was confirmed after consultation with Egypt’s highest religious figure, the Grand Mufti.

The death sentences of five other leading members of the Muslim Brotherhood, including its supreme guide Mohammed Badie, were also upheld.

Morsi’s supporters have described the sentence as “farcical”.

The verdict is subject to appeal. One hundred and one other defendants were also sentenced to death in absentia.

Morsi escaped from Wadi Natroun prison in January 2011 and was accused of colluding with foreign militants in a plot to free Islamists during mass prison breaks.

The 2011 uprising brought an end to Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule and Morsi was elected president a year later.

PoliticsBreaking News: Ex Egypt President Mohammed Morsi Jailed For Life by CaseFile(op): 12:18pm On Jun 16, 2015
Egypt’s ex-President Mohammed Morsi has been sentenced to life in prison for espionage by an Egyptian court.

He was accused of spying on behalf of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, Lebanese militants Hezbollah and Iran.

The court is yet to decide on whether to uphold death sentences given to the former leader and 100 others over a mass prison break in 2011.

Morsi’s supporters have described the charges against him as “farcical”.

He was deposed in July 2013 following mass street protests against his rule and is already serving a 20-year jail term for ordering the arrest and torture of demonstrators.

The judge said on Tuesday that the Muslim Brotherhood “collaborated with Palestinian Hamas to infiltrate Egypt’s eastern borders and attack prisons”, state TV reported.

Morsi was given life, while 16 other Muslim Brotherhood members – including leader Khairat al-Shater – were sentenced to death on charges of delivering secret documents abroad between 2005 and 2013.

In Egypt, a life sentence is 25 years in jail.

A final ruling on his death sentence for the 2011 prison break is expected after a court recess. It has been awaiting the opinion of Egypt’s highest religious figure, the Grand Mufti.

PoliticsOritsejafor Battles Lagos State Over Planned Demolition Of His Church by CaseFile(op): 9:58am On Jun 16, 2015
The president of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Ayo Orisejafor is still at loggerheads with the Lagos State government over planned demolition of his church located at Victoria Island.

In the suit instituted by the World of Life Bible Church, Orisejafor is asking the court to restrain Lagos State government from demolishing the church.

Justice  Deborah Oluwayemi has directed parties in the suit to approach the state’s Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development over the delay in issuing building permit to the church.

At the resumed hearing of the suit, state counsel, Mr. A O Idowu, urged the court to grant a short adjournment to enable him visit the ministry of Physical Planning along with the claimant’s lawyer.

He told the court that essence of the visit would be to ascertain why the ministry refused to issue building permit to the church even though necessary fees had been paid.

But, Mr. Kayode Bankole  counsel to the church told the court that while his client is not averse to the visit, the claimant had made all necessary moves to find amicable solution to the matter but the state had refused to respond positively.

However, Justice Oluwayemi directed that parties should go to the ministry and adjourned the matter till July 16 for continuation of Case Management Conference (CMC).

The claimant  wants an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, their agents, servants, officers, privies or whosoever from demolishing, destroying, dispossessing or forcibly ejecting the claimant from, or continuing to take steps or in any other manner engaging in any activity detrimental or inimical or contrary to the rights of ownership or possession of the claimant in respect of the land.

The Church is also seeking for an order compelling the defendants to issue without delay necessary building development permit to it having fulfilled all necessary steps expected including payment of required fees.

Oritsajefor is also asking the court to compel the State government to refund without delay the sum of N3, 057, 056 being money paid in excess for issuance of building.

The Muhammadu Buhari administration finally met fuel marketers Friday to resolve a lingering fuel crisis that continued a week after the new president was sworn into office.

At the end of the meeting with the marketers and other operators in the oil and gas sector, all sides agreed to work speedily to end the shortage that has hit the hardest in Abuja and Lagos.

Oil marketers said they have dispatched 700 trucks of petrol to Abuja as part of efforts to end the scarcity.

According to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, signed by Taiye Haruna, permanent secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the marketers agreed to begin to deliver fuel products to all parts of the country immediately.

The statement said the meeting was tagged “Queue must go stakeholders’ platform”.
It said that the Petroleum Products Marketing Company in conjunction with marketers, major and independent, have agreed to increase the level of supply to all retail outlets nationwide with immediate effect.
It also stated that the meeting also directed marketers to move 700 trucks of petrol to Abuja with immediate effect.
It noted that one of the major constraints to distribution was the logjam at Apapa –Oshodi expressway in Lagos.
“We have agreed to work with the Lagos State Government, Petrol Tanker Drivers (PTD) and NARTO to clear the logjam at Apapa,” the communique stated.
“Currently we have over 2,000 trucks on that road waiting to take fuel at the depot.
“Trucks are at Apapa to load products but could not get product but we fashioned out modality to clear the logjam in conjunction with other stakeholders,” it stated.
The communiqué said the measure would enable the marketers start loading and moving products out of the depot to the hinterland.
“We have enough stocks that can last for 23 days; also we agreed to set up the committee of stakeholders to monitor the loading and delivering of products nationwide.
“We have also agreed that efforts will be made to clear this long before the end of June,” the communiqué declared.
It further stated that the Petroleum Equalization Fund would track all the trucks from Apapa using the Aquila project to avoid diversion of the products.
“DPR is to ensure that products are delivered and selling of proceeds should not be more than N87 per litre.
“Government will not relent in their efforts to ensure that the challenge becomes a thing of the past.
“All stakeholders have agreed to clear the queue before the end of next week,” it stated.
According to the communiqué, it was also agreed that a task force comprising all operators be set up to look into the distribution of petrol nationwide.
