Nairaland GeneralCrisis At RSU As Law Dean, Officers Sacked by CDANews(op): 11:21am On Nov 13, 2025
Port Harcourt) – A major administrative crisis is brewing at the Rivers State University (RSU) following controversial administrative decisions at Rivers State University that have drawn the ire of national educational bodies.

Credible sources within the university confirm that the Vice-Chancellor recently forced the resignation, or outright sacking, of all principal officers within the Faculty of Law. The affected positions are said to include the Dean, Sub-Dean, and Heads of Departments.

The decision has sparked immediate backlash from the Council of Legal Education (CLE) and the National Universities Commission (NUC). Both bodies have reportedly expressed strong disapproval, labeling the move as disruptive to the stability and accreditation standards of the law program.

The CLE, responsible for accrediting law faculties in Nigeria, is said to be particularly concerned about the potential negative impact on the faculty's ability to meet the rigorous requirements for producing future lawyers. The NUC has also raised alarms over the abrupt nature of the decision and its implications for university governance.

When contacted for comment, the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State University stated that the management's decisions were taken in the best interest of the institution and are aimed at streamlining administration. He declined to give further details, citing internal personnel matters.

Stakeholders in the legal and academic community are watching closely, as the standoff could have significant consequences for the students and the future of legal education at the university.

Nairaland GeneralProf. Adesanya-davies Urges Nigerians: “mind Your Language” by CDANews(op): 9:52pm On Oct 06, 2025
Renowned linguist and former presidential candidate, Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, has urged Nigerians to adopt decent, cultured, friendly, and humorous language in daily communication while avoiding vulgar and uncivil expressions.

In a recent public message titled “Mind Your Language,” Prof. Adesanya-Davies emphasized that language plays a vital role in shaping human relationships, professional growth, and societal harmony. According to her, the words people use can either “build bridges or create barriers.”

She explained that decent language reflects courtesy, self-respect, and consideration for others, adding that polite and thoughtful communication fosters trust and understanding. “When we use decent, respectful, and refined language, we project emotional maturity and enhance our personal and professional image,” she said.

The professor also highlighted the importance of friendliness and humor in communication, noting that warm and inclusive expressions help strengthen bonds and promote unity. “Humor, when used appropriately, can break the ice, diffuse tension, and build camaraderie,” she added.

In a related follow-up piece titled “Stop Being Vulgar, Rude, Sarcastic, and Teasing,” Adesanya-Davies cautioned against the growing trend of incivility and verbal hostility both online and offline. She warned that sarcasm, insults, and teasing often damage relationships and foster distrust.

“Uncivil language reflects poorly on the speaker and can create a toxic environment,” she noted. “Respectful communication builds credibility and promotes peace.”

Prof. Adesanya-Davies urged Nigerians to be more self-aware in their speech, think before responding, and cultivate habits that reflect kindness, empathy, and understanding.

> “By making a conscious effort to use thoughtful and considerate language, we can create a more supportive society where everyone feels valued and respected,” she concluded.

She noted that Namibia’s success in electing its first female president and ensuring over 40% female representation in parliament reflects “a new dawn for gender equality and inclusive governance.”

Adesanya-Davies, a strong advocate for women’s empowerment in Nigeria, urged African nations to emulate Namibia’s progress, saying that “women bring empathy, discipline, and cooperation — qualities vital for nation-building.”

She reaffirmed her commitment to promoting women’s participation in governance across Africa, emphasizing that Namibia’s example proves “when women lead, societies thrive.”

Nairaland GeneralIwueze Blasts Ngozi Over Attack On Kalu by CDANews(op): 1:44pm On Oct 06, 2025
A heated political exchange has erupted in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State as All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Hon. Chioma Iwueze, popularly known as Oji Ugo, came out strongly in defense of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.

The controversy began after the Deputy Mayor of Bende, Mrs. Ngozi Anya, took to Facebook to question the visibility of federal projects linked to Hon. Kalu within the constituency. She reportedly wrote, “Where are his projects in Bende?”

In a swift response, Hon. Chioma Iwueze described Ngozi’s comments as “baseless and ill-informed,” urging critics to show respect to leaders who have contributed immensely to national development.

> “Ngozi, you are too small to challenge Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu. When you were still in your cobwebs cave in 2019, struggling to see light, he was already setting the pace on the national stage,” she said during a community event on Monday morning.

Political observers say the verbal exchange reflects rising political tensions in Abia State as the 2027 general elections draw closer.

Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who currently serves as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been widely recognized for his legislative achievements and constituency empowerment programs.

Hon. Chioma Iwueze, a well-known APC loyalist and grassroots mobilizer, maintained that Kalu’s track record speaks for itself and warned detractors against taking “cheap shots” for political relevance.
