A.
Gearing ratio is used to determine the financial strength of organisation. It measures the ratio of debts (numerator) to the shareholders equity or capital (denominator)

Interest on loan of course would be a debt to the company. If this is too high relative to the share capital, that spells doom. The ratio will be high and we say the company is highly geared and vice versa.

Goodnight

Operating costs are cost of goods or services that are used up in a production process. Goods such as fuel, fertilizer, wages etc... all form the operating costs. Operating costs vary because their prices depend on the behaviour of other factors. Put in other words, they are externally determined. Take for instance, the amount paid labourers as wages depends on the volume of output and its marketability. The higher the volume of output and its marketability, ceteris paribus, the higher will be the wages paid workers as remuneration and vice versa. Likewise the price of fuel depends upon its output, its market and the cost incurred in producing it. Seeing as market conditions often change, their prices fluctuate and are therefore not constant. Fixed costs on the contrary do not vary with the level of output or any external factor. Take for instance, I lent you N100,000 on a written agreement that you will pay me 10% interest on it per annum, regardless whether you make profit or losses, you ought to honor the agreement and pay me the said amount as at when due. Wages on the other hand, can be reduced to cut losses. I hope that was clear enough. Pardon my epistle.

The total amount of money created with a new bank deposit can be found using the deposit multiplier, which is the reciprocal of the reserve requirement ratio. In this case, the cash ratio. Multiplying the deposit multiplier by the amount of the new deposit gives the total amount of money that may be created.

The deposit is #100, the cash ratio is 20%, ie 20/100=0.2
The reciprocal of the cash deposit ratio is 1/0.2=5
Multiply that 5 by the initial deposit of #100,u get ur answer (5×100=500).
Oh my...could u believe I couldn't arrive at any answer...Nowhere have I gotten this thing called deposit multiplier...You don't know how grateful I am...wow..BTW d answer u gave is correct according to my past question..more are coming bro..thanks..I am really learning

Hello house!Please I really need some schooling on this treasury bills of a thing. I hear you all talking about bids and all that. And from little gatherings I see that this is through the primary market,right?My question is how can I invest through the primary market?through my bankhuhbecause when I mailed my bank concerning investing in T-bills and the interest rate they gave me the interest rates. But this is the secondary market,right?...they gave me something like this
TENURE (DAYS)      MATURITY DATE                  RATE (%)
 87                          14 -May-2015                         10.50%
129                         25 -Jun-2015                          12.50%
 ...Now going for something like this is investing through the secondary market ,right? If so then how can I invest through the primary market,since I get d opportunity of bidding my interest ratehuh. I hear things like account officers. Are these the agentshuhare they paid by the investor or its just something done on behalf of the Bank like an already paid service or something??...and these account officers are found in bankshuh...

...Plus,I hear the issue of the T-bills is offered at a discount and at the end of the day U are paid the face value...My question on this is,‘is this exclusive of the interest that would be paid upfront?..i.e apart from the interest received on the principal one also gets the benefit of d difference btw. the discounted purchase rate and the full face value received at maturity. If this is not so pls I need some serious schooling before I go investing in T-bills. Pls I need a response on this don't mind the length of this..I might not just be skillful at expressing myself in a clear and concise way...my bad..thanks
N.B even if u cannot answer all the qstns at least the ones u know share with me and others too will contribute their answers...that way all my questions will b answered ...but If u can answer all in one stretch no qualms that'll be ok

Martiyu:
Interests attached to loans are usually given i.e fixed. For example, if you apply for a loan, the bank could say OK, on this amount, you would pay 10% of it as interest per annum... With that, u know that the interest is fixed for that year... If the loan rolls over 2,3 years or thereabouts, you would still keep paying the 10% over those years except otherwise.

I hope this answers your question.
I get u..owkay it's constant irrespective of changes in output @interest on loans u still have to pay the interest on loans(irrespective of output change) dat makes it a fixed cost...owkay but concerning wages;output may increase or if demand comes rising d can employ more hands which means more mouths(wages) therefore wages increased with change of output making it variable not fixed...hope I'm not on the wrong lane on d explanation...dats why d answer is Wages..owkay...thanks...more questions coming hope u dnt mind

For the first question, I think E.... Based on an assumption I made and the answer to the second question is most definitely D
Thanks so much. The answer given in my past question n answer for no 1 qst. is the same as yours i.e wages...but my initial choice was Interest on loans..I'd love it if you explain more because I thought wages was a fixed cost.

Meanwhile the answer u gave 2 the 2nd question was my initial choice too. I am beyond every reasonable doubt now that the past questions answer is wrong because it put A. ratio of exports to imports...
Thanks once more.

The question is a bit unclear or maybe it is the supposed answer that is not quite in order but anyways, I'll gv u d opportunity cost of each commodity for the two countries.

Opportunity cost for

Nigeria :
Cocoa= 0.5 ; Lace= 2

Austria :
Cocoa= 0.67 ; Lace= 1.5

Will take a closer look at the question again to check if m able to get a handle on it... But if m unable to, u may have to take it from here.
Ok thanks do far... I bring again two questions as follows;
1.Which of the following is NOT a part of the fixed costs of a limited liability company? A. Interest on loans B. Rent on buildings C. Depreciation reserves D. Management expenditure E. Wages

2. By terms of trade ,we mean the A. ratio of exports to imports B. difference between exports and imports C. difference between current account and capital account D. index of export prices to import prices to import prices expressed as a percentage E. ratio of short-term capital movements to long-term capital movements

...I just want to be sure of the answers because that which I chose as answers to the both questions were wrong according to my past qst. answer...And I feel they got it wrong..

Why would you invest 10k on T.Bills?....It obviously make no sense because the return will be very low but 100k makes small sense at least over long time,the money will appreciate......I hope you get my point......

We need a government that has firsthand concern for the educational sector. A country cannot go beyond its level of education. What we need is total sanitization of the sector and more supply of facilities and equipment. Teachers,educational instructors should be well qualified and the issue of corruption should be tackled even in our Teaching service commissions.. ...and so,during this coming election,I beckon well-meaning citizens of this country to come out and vote wisely for whomsoever you deem fit.
