Good day guys, I hold a Bsc in Physics, looking to further in Elect Engineering or Nuclear Eng. for a Master's program, researched a ton of schools already, even reached out to their graduate coordinators and got replies on inquiries, but havent started/completed any application as I'm looking for schools that wouldnt require letter of recommendations. Reached out to former lecturers, mails, no reply for a request. Question here is, I'd appreciate an estimate on how much it would cost to go through on an application. GRE, have no idea on that and average application fee for international students is like $70-90. If possible, not to be forward, with all the VISA payments and SEVIS fees I read on here, like estimate estimate. Will appreciate a response on this, thanks.

Hello house, I have a few questions that I will appreciate your thoughts and input.

I am 28years old. I am considering applying for an undergraduate degree in Nursing in the US.
I already have a first degree in Physiology in Nigeria.
I am wondering what are my chances of getting a study visa given my age and the fact that I already have a first degree.

My sister who works in the U.S and is a US citizen plans to sponsor me and pay my tuition. Will this be an advantage or will it count against me.

Is it better I apply for a Masters degree.
Please I need honest advice, so I can make informed decisions so and so I wont pursuea path that is almost certainty fail.

Also my School session starts September 2025 and I put Lagos as Visa Locatiion in both my DS-160 and also on AVITS.

Now time to book for interview and I see February 2026 as available appointment date.

I am guessing a lot students resuming September in Lagos are also experiencing the same thing.

What do I do about this?


Change your appointment location to Abuja, I think dates from there starts from august now, then choose august since your resuming September, take your Lagos ds160 along with you to your appointment, during the first lineup wen they ask to bring out your ds160 for scanning, explain to them yours is for Lagos and they will changes immediately for you there, it only takes few minutes. The next option you have is to wait for Lagos which is in 2026 and you will have to defer your admission

I hear visa dates will cme out later but is that not risky to end up worsening the February 2026 to later in 2026

Please don’t fill another ds160. Just go with the one you filled out for Lagos. They will resolve it for you at the security. This happened to me in December when I went for my interview. The people that are in charge of documents just helped me retrieve it on their system and it did not take too long. Do not complete another ds160.

For you to be convinced, see below screenshot of US embassy websites and avits instructions.

Ceecee I think you have to pick a date first to be able to request for expedited appointment.. you won't be able to request for it until you have a date first.
Kamsy were you able to get any date at all? If I pick a date in Abuja will I be able to attend my interview in Lagos? Do you have an idea?

Hello, please I have a question, I've tried to put my bank details ie the reference number and date on my first bank transaction. But it keeps showing me " bank details uploaded successfully, then it goes back to "generate deposit slip again, I've not gone past this stage. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? I need assistance with an issue I have been experiencing while trying to book my visa appointment. After making an online payment through First Bank, I encountered the following issues:

When I input my bank deposit details, the system displays the message: "Given payment receipt does not exist."
When I use my Amentum reference number, it redirects me to the preapproval request section. However, after entering all required details, I get the error message: "Query did not return a unique result: 2. Nested exception is 'javax.persistence.NonUniqueResultException: query did not return a unique result: 2.'"
I have been facing these issues for two weeks now and urgently need to book/schedule an appointment for my visa interview. Could you please advise on how to resolve this?
