No fewer than eight people have been gunned down in Ibaa community in Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State on Friday.

It was gathered that four of the victims were beheaded and their severed heads taken away by the rampaging cultists.

A source in the community, who preferred to speak on condition of anonymity, noted that the cultists invaded the community in reprisal.

The source noted that Deygbam cultists visited the community around 3am to avenge the death of their member, who was killed by the Icelanders last month.

The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, on Wednesday described the state’s economy as stable and healthy in spite of economic recession ravaging the country.

He said the state did not suffer recession due to sound economic planning and management put in place by the government.

The governor stated this  at  the mid-year review meeting organised  by the  Anambra State Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners in collaboration with the United Nations.

A civil servant, Mr. Polycarp Anyanwu, has won the star prize in the just concluded MMA2 @ 10 Fly and Win promo.

The prize, a Kia Rio saloon car, is a product of a partnership between Dana Motors/Dana Air and Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, a member of the Resort Group and operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two, which turned 10 recently.

The International Organisation for Migration on Friday said thousands of Nigerian migrant girls brought to Italy were in great danger of being forced into prostitution in Europe.

The number of female Nigerians, many of them minors, often naive about their fate at the hands of traffickers, arrived by sea in Italy surged over the past three years from 1,454 in 2014 to 11,000 in 2016.

The organisation’s spokesman, Flavio Di Giacomo, said at a news briefing in Geneva that some 4,000 Nigerian girls had arrived so far in 2017.

A new film titled TATU will be premiered in Lagos on July 22.

The epic film , produced by Bank Of Industry and Patriarch Technologies, in conjunction with FilmOne Production and FilmOne Distribution, will be unveiled at the Eko Hotels Convention Centre.

TATU, which was shot in locations across Lagos and Ibadan, is a contemporary take on the classic African epic adventure story, a fast-paced action drama centered around the conflict arising from a mother’s quest to have a child and all the complications that follow.

Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited, previously trading as ‘Etisalat Nigeria’ on Wednesday officially unveiled its new brand identity, 9mobile, with a new logo and website.

The Chief Executive Officer of 9mobile, Mr Boye Olusanya, said at a news conference in Lagos that the new logo was in conformity with the new name.

The Acting Programme Manager of Agricultural Development Programme, Anambra, Mr Jude Nwankwo says plans are underway to commence export of rice from the state in 2018.

Nwankwo disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Awka.

“By the grace of God, Anambra will commence rice export after our harvest this year’’, he said.

Israeli authorities were to reopen an ultra-sensitive holy site Sunday closed after an attack that killed two policemen, but new security measures including metal detectors and cameras were being put in place.

Three Arab Israeli assailants opened fire on Israeli police Friday in Jerusalem’s Old City before fleeing to the nearby Haram al-Sharif, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, where they were shot dead by security forces.

Seven alleged members of the dreaded Badoo cult who have been causing unrest in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State were on Friday brought before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, Afolabi Kessington (25), Ismaila Shaibu (36), Mutiu Nurudeen (26), Ibrahim Bello (25), Lukman Mohammed (35), Gift Itafa (50) and Sheriff Adewunmi (23).

Google is not liable for 1.115 billion euros ($1.272 billion) in unpaid taxes claimed by the French state, a French court ruled Wednesday, saying the internet giant’s Irish subsidiary is not taxable in France.

“The French company Google Ireland Limited (GIL) is not taxable in France for the 2005 to 2010 period,” the court ruled.
