There was a fire outbreak at the Federal Civil Service Secretariat, Abuja in the early hours of Saturday.

It was learnt that the inferno, which started from an office on the third floor in the Ministry of Tourism, had destroyed electronic items and furniture before it was put out by men of the fire service.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, 26th and Tuesday 27th June, 2017 as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.), announced this on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to use the occasion of the celebration for sober reflection and to pray for peace, unity and progress of the nation in its march to nationhood.

A cybercafé operator, Emeka Anugwo, was on Thursday arraigned on a two-count charge of fraud and impersonation at the Igbosere High Court in Lagos.

Anugwo, who runs a CBT centre close to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board office in Ikoyi, Lagos, was arrested in May for allegedly collecting between N3,000 and N3,5000 from 70 UTME candidates to generate a Remitter Code and effect changes in their ages, course and institutions.
