Job Title: Operations Manager

Work Location: Agricultural Farm, Tchaourou, Republic of Benin

Reporting to: Chairman of the Board

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production activities on the agricultural farm. The role involves optimizing resources, implementing best agricultural practices, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The Operations Manager plays a key role in the continuous improvement of production processes and the daily management of operations.

**Main Responsibilities:**

1. **Daily Operations Management:**
- Oversee and coordinate all agricultural production activities, including cassava cultivation, fruit trees, and livestock.
- Ensure planning, implementation, and monitoring of production schedules.
- Ensure efficient and optimal use of resources, including labor, equipment, and agricultural inputs.

2. **Team Supervision:**
- Supervise and lead crop managers and production teams.
- Ensure continuous training and skill development of staff.
- Promote a safe and collaborative working environment.

3. **Quality and Compliance:**
- Ensure all agricultural practices comply with current quality and safety standards.
- Implement and monitor quality control processes for agricultural products and derivatives.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations.

4. **Continuous Improvement:**
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes and implement optimization initiatives.
- Integrate sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
- Stay updated on technological advancements and best practices in the agricultural sector.

5. **Administrative Management:**
- Collaborate with the administrative and financial department to manage budgets and financial resources of the operation.
- Prepare regular reports on production performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Participate in strategic planning meetings with the Chairman of the Board.

6. **Partner Relations:**
- Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers, commercial partners, and local stakeholders.
- Participate in negotiations and partnership agreements.

**Required Qualifications:**

- Degree in agriculture, agronomy, agricultural management, or a related field.
- Significant experience in managing agricultural operations, preferably in cassava cultivation, fruit trees, and/or livestock.
- Team management and leadership skills.
- Deep knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices and quality standards.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to make informed decisions and proactively solve problems.
- Proficiency in written and spoken French (knowledge of English is an asset).

Is the border between Benin and Nigeria open for trade? I thought the border was closed.

If the border is closed, then I will advice you to wait until a new president is elected in Nigeria who will open the border.

Do not export soya bean to Nigeria if your country prohibits it


If the border is open, I will advice you to look into export of tomatoes to Nigeria. The demand is very high all year round.

Any chemical that contains diuron and atrazine is not good for melon, pepper and tomato,it can even kill the melon, melon belongs to broadleaf categories,using diuron and atrazine as pre emergency and post emergency can kill the melon

I am a farmer based in Benin republic. I discovered this forum recently and i wanted to propose partnership with nigerian buyer. My farm is in Tchaourou not far from Nigerian border.

I produce :

Soybean
Dry pepper
Cassava
Rice
Tomato

If there is any interested buyer , i am interested increase my production to deliver it specially dry pepper for the following deason.

I also fo catfish and pigs and i will begin chicken poultry season.

Egusi plant can be profitable if you manage to control the weeds. But it can be messy because sometims you won't find enough manpower to get rid of the grasses.

My project is 20 hectares i cannot mulch it. I was expecting a product that can help me in the weed management.

1. Well, i dont know the type of of mulching u are talking about. Whether mulchinng film or dry grasses, none is even applicable here as the OP is talking about 50 acres(not 5) of melon farm(not cucumber, tomatoes and the likes).

2. Be careful with the chemicals you recommend on line, wrong prescription can ruin multi milion naira project. To the 2 herbicides you recommended above, Fulsilade is only applicable if the weed on his farm is >90% grasses. It does not kill broadleaves. i used to buy a bottle around 10k which can serves one acre. imagine the OP has more of broadleaf weeds on his farm and he ignorantly takes your advice and buys 50 bottles for the 50 acres...almost N500K fruitless venture...after spraying, the weeds will still be smiling. To the 2nd herbicide you mentioned, it is more applicable for root crops: cassava, yam, ginger, etc. I have used diff brands of it...forceuron, royaluron, etc. none of these manufacturers mentioned melon. Let's be guided, peace.
