Politics / Happy Centenary, Nigeria by chammonde: 3:34pm On Jan 07, 2014
Happy Centenary and a very well done to all Nigerians without any exceptions. We have seen our nation state slowly but surely move from an era of our fathers where newspapers were published along tribal lines and divisions; a Yoruba man for instance was interested in the Southwestern journal only and consequently, had his ideologies centered on the speculations from his constituency and perhaps on occasion, would gather information from sister communities. In recent times with the surge of inter-marriages, socio-political alliances, economic cooperations etc., we are witnessing our collective gravitation as a nation in the direction that no longer sees our perspectives focused inwardly on tribal divides and sentiments as before (though our interests still are) but now we have mega representatives in the 'national' scheme of things - probably still for the age-long course of tribal and ethnic competition - but better informed and more liberal in view and association. Drawing from these, we obviously aren't where we were yesterday, more so, these developments represent right steps in right directions for as we gravitate toward the center of our country, we gradually realize the essence of putting country first before every other sentiments. It is natural! Most developed nations from where we often draw our inspirations also evolved along such plains as we are now. Congratulations, Nigerians!...jolly well pleased to announce to you that we are on the right track. Now having de-mystified the myriad negative speculations, commentaries and prophecies, let us look forward to a more patriotic citizenry that will take responsibilities, one that will not only harness their individual resources but will do so, with one nationalistic, common view which is: the advancement of the nation, Nigeria. God bless Nigeria, God bless you all. ***this message is not copyrighted, please make as many copies for the good of Nigeria as you deem necessary.

Politics / Anti-patriots Vying For Office And Their Misconduct;election 2011 by chammonde: 12:30pm On Apr 16, 2011
Here in Ekiti, we have just witnessed a certain Bamidele Faparuti, candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria for Ekiti South Federal Constituency II being arrested and carted away by the state security police to the capital (Ado-Ekiti).

He was apprehended in the company of four (4) hoodlums disguised as SSS officials. When the gang failed to supply proper identification, they were quickly read their rights and put in the police vehicles.

This is a continuation of a series of disturbances by the party in the state, only a few weeks back, April 2, a honorable member of the state house of assembly, Hon. Samuel Ajidara was accosted by State security outfit with gun wielding thugs.

We will endeavour to supply more information as we witness it.
