Good afternoon I will like your suggestion on whether F1(man) and F2s(Mother and Child) should attend visa interview together or F1 should apply for visa and go alone first then F2s can apply after some time If you can share your recent experience on what you think is the best option[/quote *Hello Anu* From our recent experience, my husband (F1), our child, and I (F2s) all attended the visa interview together this past Monday. We were placed under Administrative Processing (AP), but the visa officer collected our passports and reassured us that there’s nothing to worry about, which gave us some peace of mind. I believe attending together helped demonstrate our intent as a family unit and made the process clearer for the consular officer. If your documents are strong and everything is in order, I’d say going together is a good option especially if you plan to move as a family from the start. However, if timing, finances, or other logistics are tight, having the F1 go first and settle down before the F2s apply can also work many families choose that route too. I’ll share our transcript soon |
Hello everyone, Please, can I present a week bank statement to get the I-20 and for the U.S visa interview, or do they strictly require 3 months? I’d appreciate a your response... Thank you. |
Hello everyone, I’d like to seek your advice and hear your opinions. My husband recently received a fully funded PhD scholarship with no deficit, and our family is preparing to travel with him. He will be applying for an F1 visa, while my daughter and I have applied for F2 visas. According to the school, we need to present proof of $8,000 for myself and our daughter, and we currently have about $12,000 to show. We are expecting our I-20 forms and are also preparing for the visa interview, which we plan to attend together. If anyone has experience applying at the embassy as a family, I would love to hear how it went and any advice you can share. Your advice will mean a lot to us…thank you in advance. |
Congratulations… When the visa officer asked, 'What do you do here?', what did you tell them? Also, did they ask how long you plan to stay in the U.S. and if you’re leaving your job to be with your husband? |
My daughter and I plan to go to the U.S. embassy with my husband. He recently received a fully funded PhD scholarship in the USA and will be applying for an F-1 visa, while my daughter and I will be applying for F-2 visas. We got married December 2023, had an elaborate wedding with pictures as evidence, and we are blessed with a daughter. Since we got married, I have not officially changed my surname to my husband’s name. All my documents, including my international passport, still bear my father’s surname, except for my daughter’s birth certificate, where my surname is written as my husband’s name. My marriage certificate is currently being processed, and I have been asked which name should appear on it. I am concerned about whether these name differences will cause issues during the visa process. I do not have enough time to apply for a new passport Should I use my father's surname on the marriage certificate to match my current passport and explain the situation during the interview, or is it necessary to update my passport to my husband's name and also use his name on the marriage certificate? Please I need your advice guys |
