Hello everyone,

For a long time now, I’ve been thinking seriously about leaving Nigeria, but the whole process has been quite confusing. Please be patient with me—I might ask what seem like “silly” questions sometimes, but that’s because I really want to get things right.

I prefer following a step-by-step guide, and I’d appreciate any help in making sure I don’t make mistakes along the way. I recently got admitted into a university here in Nigeria, and I’m not yet 18 years old.

The good news is that I’m already at an advanced level in German, so I’m confident I can handle studying in the language. My dream is to study at TU Munich (Technical University of Munich).

I plan to go through the Sponsorship Letter route, and I’d really love if someone could kindly break down the process for me step by step. For instance—do I start by applying to the university first, or is there another step I should take before that?

I’m truly grateful for any guidance or support you can offer. Thanks in advance!

This is totally unrelated, but I just found an Austrian online site for buying stuff and renting apartments. I'm shocked to see €440 per month for a 3-bedroom place, while in Germany, 3-bedroom apartments go for €1,000 or more!

Is there something called the Invitation Letter? If not, could someone explain the Sponsorship Letter? Also, will I need to have my own block account, or will my sponsor be the one to fund it?

My process was done in the UAE and I found out they is great difference between the two countries regarding German student visa processing. Like, in the UAE my original documents were not asked of or checked. I went with less documents.
Admission letter
Fintiba document
First degree certificate
Transcript
SOP
CV
International passport
Passport photograph.
However, the process I got was gaining admission from German University, book appointment with the embassy, fund my fintiba block account and prepare for the interview.
Those guys that got the visa from Nigeria will give a better guidelines on requirements and documentation. Cheers.
Really? Is the UAE an easier route compared to waiting up to 2 years for a German appointment date? Did you have to apply for a residence permit while in the UAE?

Yes, you'll need to apply for a visa appointment before getting admission.

The current wait time for a category B appointment is just over 2 years.

You're in Category A if

> You're a PHD student
> You have a scholarship financed by German public funds
> You hold a first class bachelors degree

*Everybody* else is in Category B.

Do I need to apply for a German visa before applying to the university? How long does it typically take to get my visa approved, and how does the appointment date fit into this process? I appreciate any insights!

post=122212527]I'm not used to this, but I believe someone may find this helpful.

I booked a visa appointment in Lagos on 29th of April, 2022. I have not gotten an appointment up till now. Frustrated by the delay and stress of following my classes online, I got a resident permit that allowed me attend my visa interview In Ghana.

Had my visa interview in German embassy, Accra on 20th February, 2023. Got an approval mail at about 10am on 17th of March, 2023 and pick my passport with visa stamp on 27th of March, 2023.

I will honestly advise you to explore the possibility of processing your visa outside Nigeria, if you have the means and desire to achieve your Deutschland dream. It comes with sacrifice, my dear!

DM me if you need guidance.

All the best and see you in Deutschland!

P.S. I have cancelled my Lagos appointment to give chance for people who still want to wait for Lagos, even though I feel it doesn't worth the stress.
Good Day,

This post is a bit old, but I have some questions. How long does it typically take to navigate this path? If I choose to apply for a residence permit, how long might it take to get an appointment date?

Is applying for a residence permit necessary?
How long did it take you to get your appointment date?

i'd appreciate a step-by-step breakdown of the process. Thank you!

It's being a very good and interesting experience for me in germany since I landed on 5th October. On Monday, I paid for my accommodation and went for the registration which I got appointment for 16th of October. Yesterday, I visited my school for enrolment which got not upto 2 minutes. Its being good and stressless. Have it in mind, I don't have anybody in germany but I am navigating very well.
Congratulations to You! I have a question that's been quite confusing for me. Could you please provide a step-by-step breakdown of the overall requirements for the Germany Student Route? Thank you!

Is AD still getting issued?
Hi everyone! I'm new to researching the Japa movement and I'm particularly interested in the Germany Student Route for a BSc. Could someone explain what Category A and Category B mean? Also, do I need to apply for my visa before applying to the university? Thanks!
