A police man was beaten up by people in Ogbomoso road in Oyo state this morning after the police vehicle he was

riding in was accused of causing an accident in the area. An eye witness said the police van was chasing a taxi for reasons he doesn't know and the taxi crashed into another car and into the bush and burst into flames. People then descended on the policemen who managed to escape in their van except for one.

A trailer conductor was killed this morning at Coker along the Badagry expressway in Lagos. Eyewitnesses say the unidentified conductor had called on a trailer driver to help him move his own trailer forward so he can offload the goods in his trailer. As the driver tried moving the vehicle, he suffered brake failure and pressed the conductor against another trailer. The deceased died instantly.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday re-arraigned the former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Lamido and his sons are facing a 27-count criminal charge bothering on corruption and money laundering. Also arraigned were those through whom they perpetrated the act. They are Aminu Wada Abubakar, Batholomew Darlington Agoha and companies.

It’s the second day of sitting at the trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Like the first time around, Saraki refused to attend the trial proceedings.

It appears that the execution of the bench warrant issued against the Senate President on Friday was delayed after his lead lawyer, Joseph Daodu, assured the court that his client will be in court on Monday.

Resigned to the fact that Saraki wouldn’t be showing up, the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Umar Danladi adjourned proceedings for one hour.

The one hour will give the tribunal ample time to decide on the ramifications of Saraki’s absence and the next line of action.
