RoadPeer is a location-based Traffic Information app for viewing and reporting traffic conditions on major roads in Lagos, Nigeria. The application is specifically designed to help users make informed decisions about their journey by providing them with real-time crowd-sourced traffic information on their mobile phones.
With RoadPeer on a GPS-enabled smart phone, a user on any of the major roads in Lagos can report the traffic conditions on that road with just the click of a button on the phone. This approach ensures authenticity of traffic reports and prevents submission of spurious reports. RoadPeer automatically gathers user-reports and uses an intelligent programming algorithm to analyze and publish the most accurate traffic conditions to all its users real-time. Users can also view reports on a Live Traffic Map; therefore, in instances where there are different levels of vehicular traffic on a particular road, RoadPeer will display Traffic Report icons at the exact spots the reports were submitted by users. Hence a user would know where to expect heavy or light traffic on a particular road.
