i really wanna be a java guru. i have moderate understanding of the syntax and the language in general. but my problem is how to get sample assignments to boost my knowledge cos  i work alone

VB.NET is quite good for mobile app development though i've never tried it. i'll advise u to use java cos i feel it is more robust for mobile app development and also ther are certainly more mobile developers using java than VB in nigeria(just in case you need help).
