Geohelminths or soil-transmitted helminths, form one of the most important groups of infectious agents and are the cause of serious global health problems; more than a billion people are currently infected by at least one species of this group of pathogens and are common infectious diseases of childhood in tropical regions (WHO; 2005). Geohelminth infections are considered to cause significant morbidity in endemic areas through affects on nutrition, growth, and cognition affecting school performance (Beasley et al., 2000)

Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterial species named from Greek word called Golden grape-cluster berry. It is a facultative anaerobic gram positive coccal bacterium. It is a member of the flrmicutes and is frequently found in the human respiratory tract and the skin. Although Staphylococcus aureus is not always pathogenic, it is a common cause of skin infections (e.g. boils), respiratory disease (e.g. sinusitis), and food poisoning (Kluytmans J, et al., 1997).

1.1. BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
Water is a colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain fall as well as the basis of the fluids to living organisms (Michael, 2000). Water is a combination of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, with a chemical formula H2O and known to be the most abundant compound (70%) on earth's surface (Osei, 2005). However, for water to be potable it must be microbiologically safe and in order to achieve this, an approach that will eliminate pathogenic organisms from the source of water supply must be ensured. Retra (2002), described water in its pure form as a substance that has a pH value of 7.0, freezing point of 0 C and boiling point of 100 C at 760mmHg.
