Thank you. I have been fretting over this. With the different information i have been getting,i did not know which one was true, this is certainly helpful.

One more question, do you have an idea of how many years they issue on the visa for graduate students?

You need at least 6 months on the date of interview and 6 months on the day you are flighing in ....and yes another 6 months to expiry before u can renew...so lots of 6 months flying around . ... that comment of at least 2 years is incorrect so let start with that

What month exactly in 2018 is it expiring and what month is your school resuming .... and i break it down for you

Good morning everyone,

Please i have a question concerning the whole visa process. If my passport is expiring 2018 and i intend to go to school Fall 2017, do i need to file for a new passport? Someone told me that it might be grounds for Visa refusal as there is a law that says you must have at least two years validity on your passport to be granted visa to the US. However, i was told that the only way to get a new passport is to file for a missing passport which is illegal. At the passport office, i was told the only way to get a passport renewal is when it is due 6 months to expiration. I have gotten different opinions as regards to this. Please anyone with a valid answer to my question should respond.
