Agulu Obama and his nonsense rhetorics. When President Shehu Shagari conceptualised the 3rd Mainland Bridge in 1976, a lot of people called it a white elephant project. They said Lagos had 2 existing bridges - Carter and Eko Bridge. A third bridge was unnecessary. Victoria Island was partially developed, and if at all a bridge was needed, it should end at Ebute-Metta.
Nigeria was going through a tougher time with back to back military coups, structural adjustment programs, etc. Shagari continued with the project and IBB despite all the challenges completed it and extended the bridge from Ebute Metta to Oworoshoki. Today, Lagos state can barely survive without the 3rd Mainland Bridge, and everyone is now clamouring for a 4th Mainland Bridge.

For this reason they have always identified with Igbos and Ohaneze.
