And just like you I used to think these things are what makes someone successful, but I swear to you – it is not.

It is Opportunity & Information

Hard work and talent are just icing.
Think about it.
In Lagos you see grown-ass men hawking under the sun, selling toothbrushes – with a profit of 10 naira. 10 naira is about $0.026
Even if they sold 10 a day they won’t make $1

And if you happen to do $200 everyday it doesn’t make you better.
It just means you have access to information they don’t. If they had the same opportunities and information you do, they won’t be hawking for less than a dollar.

But here is where it gets really tricky
A few years ago the son of Mike Adenuga attempted to buy a Netherlands oil company. He isn’t even up to 30.
Yet he was able to attempt to cook up a deal of over $50M. Although he said he made the move without his father’s help, we that don't have Billioniare daddies all know this is nonsense talk. We too would have bidded for oil companies

Opportunity & knowledge
This is why I try to do two things: I try to make powerful friends & make sure I am humble always to learn.
