NIGERIA THIRD FORCE MOVEMENT ROLLS OUT ACTION PLANS FOR 2019 ELECTIONS. The Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM), a Pro democracy Movement and Pressure Group of like-minded Nigerians who are committed to changing the political order, which has failed to fashion a Nigeria that works for all is conceived as the THIRD POLITICAL FORCE to rescue Nigeria from corrupt and inert political leadership and system by the year 2019 NIM is concerned that the political elite, since independence and particularly since the exit of the military from visible power in 1999, has proved that it is ill-equipped and unprepared for the challenge of transforming our nation from its underdeveloped status to one that is prosperous and can create a veritable environment for the realization of its citizens’ potentials and well-being It is clear that the political elite, as currently represented by the 2 dominant political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) among others have failed Nigerians for lack of clear Ideology and principle on how to run the country. Don’t contest in 2019 THE WAY OUT: A CLARION CALL FOR COALITION FOR NIGERIA MOVEMENT Special Press Statement By President Olusegun Obasanjo Since we are still in the month of January, it is appropriate to wish all Nigerians Happy 2018. I am constrained to issue this special statement at this time considering the situation of the country. Some of you may be asking, “What has brought about this special occasion of Obasanjo issuing a Special Statement?” You will be right to ask such a question. But there is a Yoruba saying that ‘when lice abound in your clothes, your fingernails will never be dried of blood’. When I was in the village, to make sure that lice die, you put them between two fingernails and press hard to ensure they die and they always leave blood stains on the fingernails. To ensure you do not have blood on your fingernails, you have to ensure that lice are not harboured anywhere within your vicinity. The lice of poor performance in government – poverty, insecurity, poor economic management, nepotism, gross dereliction of duty, condonation of misdeed – if not outright encouragement of it, lack of progress and hope for the future, lack of national cohesion and poor management of internal political dynamics and widening inequality – are very much with us today. With such lice of general and specific poor performance and crying poverty with us, our fingers will not be dry of ‘blood’. Four years ago when my PDP card was torn, I made it abundantly clear that I quit partisan politics for aye but my concern and interest in Nigeria, Africa and indeed in humanity would not wane. Ever since, I have adhered strictly to that position. Since that time, I have devoted quality time to the issue of zero hunger as contained in Goal No. 2 of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. There were two houses standing next to each other. In one of them resided a very unhappy family. The spouses yelled at each other, they fought and quarreled all the time. The other was a place of happiness and calm. During one of the fights a wife asked her husband: “Did you ever hear them quarrel or yell over at that house? No! So, go there and see what they do to avoid it!” The husband stood at the window of his neighbors and watched. There they were busy doing their own thing. The wife was in the kitchen cooking, and the man sat at the table writing. The phone rang, and the man jumped up and headed to the hallway to get it. On his way he bumped into a vase, it fell and broke. He got down to his knees and started picking up the pieces. The wife ran into the room from the kitchen. She also kneeled down and started helping her husband to pick them up. The man said to his wife: “I am so sorry. I rushed to get the phone and bumped into the vase. A youngster asked his grandfather "Grandpa! How did you people live before with: No technology No aeroplanes No internet No computers No dramas No TVs No aircons No cars No mobile phones?" Granddad replied: "Just like how your generation live today No prayers No compassion No honor No respect No character No shame No modesty" We, the people born between 1950-1989 are the blessed ones... Our life is living proof. While playing and riding bicycles, we never wore helmets. After school, we played until dusk; we never watched TV. We played with real friends, not internet friends. If we ever felt thirsty, we drank tap water not bottled water. We never got ill sharing the same glass of juice with four friends. We never gained weight eating plates of rice everyday. Nothing happened to our feet despite roaming barefoot. We never used any supplements to keep ourselves healthy. 2- NIGERIANS IN AMERICA: President Donald Trump is known for doing exactly what he says. At a time when Nikki Haley was saying they will take a roll call of countries that voted against them, no one knows the next plan Trump has for Nigerians in his country. Omarosa are you there? The power to allow or deny entry into the USA lies with the president amongst other executive powers that Trump can use to send a devastating message to errant nations. Nigerians in America remit billions to Nigeria yearly & if Trump decides to take his aggression out on them, it will have ripple effects on our fragile economy.
