Do you know the difference between a 3-man midfield and a 2-man midfield with a no 10? You just dey embarrass yourself!
3 man midfield ensures the three midfielders are all in the central midfield with some foray behind another set of 3 forwards who constantly drift into the space a no 10 could have occupied whereas a 2-man midfield employs a no 10 and as well as high pressing wingers to make the system works well!
That's why the likes of Pedro, who has always been used as an inside forward in a 4-3-3 set up at Barca found it difficult to operate as a winger in Chelsea 4-2-3-1! Same could be said about Di Maria who slotted well in Mourinho 4-2-3-1 formation but found it difficult to operate as a winger in Ancellotti 4-3-3 set up until he was converted into a box-box midfielder.
Same thing happened with Di Maria at Manutd when the team deployed a 3-man midfield of Carrick-Herrera-Fellaini with Di maria on the wing!
A 3-man midfield is no longer defensive because it often deploys another set of 3 forwards since the setup allows the forward plenty of space in the middle to drift in and interplay with their team-mates but a winger decision making comes much more under scrutinity in this setup because his movement, linkup and interplays when drifting in, becomes much more glaring to the eye and most wingers are not good at their basic to ensure the setup works well as opposed to when he could just drive down the wing as a winger to put in a cross or drift in to take a shot in a 4-2-3-1 formation! This was Januzaj's problem under LVG last season as opposed to Moyes' set up in the previous season!
Simply put, a 3-man midfield deploy 3 forwards which already nullify the defensive approach whereas a 2-man midfield but with a no 10/SS to linkup the attack and also wingers who also contribute in the defensive aspects of the game!

The German team deployed a 3-man midfield system, Even Ancelotti deployed a 3-man midfield system with Modric and that was how Ancelotti got the best out of Modric at Madrid because Modric is a CM, not a no 10 but for Mourinho to put him in the no 10 role eventhough it's quite glaring that Modric struggles in the no 10 role just because he's more defensively astute than Ozil is stupidity at its best!
I mentioned this already and thank God that the attention seeking whoore, Hensben has already done the hard work of quoting the said post but it's a shame that I'm repeating myself once again!

Ángel Di María blames Louis van Gaal tinkering for Old Trafford struggles

It would have been understandable if he had used a 3-man midfield tactics but to use Modric in the no 10 is a defensive tactic..

with the way thinks are going I think LVG will see out his contract, cause dis one fergie is talking about patience it seems we would be stuck with LVG next season.
if mourinho is not coming to old Trafford next season I see no reason sacking LVG he should just see out his remaining one year.

LvG does not fool me one bit!! I'm too watchful for his deceitful antics. Even the English press must be taking a piss if they think I will fall for all the hype behind LvG's giving of chances to the youths. All things being equal, Borthwick-jackson, Mensah, Rashford and other youngings won't play an European match much less an EPL match. When Rooney went for months without scoring, why was Rashford not called up? Yes, I commend him for the chances, but it isn't something special. He was FORCED to field them!! He had NO choice.
