Just get it.

Buying newer phones is pointless as at now since the performance ratio is minimal unless you coming from a low tier device.

Besides, if you choose not to upgrade, it won't affect functionality of the device unless there was an app in question that requires it(which is highly unlikely years from now)
Yes I heard that too.
I just used to think it's rocket science to downgrade a phone and Google may not give you certain support if you don't upgrade

Buy it if it's within your budget. You still get a great camera and the phone is still cool to use. I've used pie 3 and 3xl with no regrets. If you want to buy it, by all means get it

It will serve. Don't get carried away by the urge to buy new or recent phones.
Wow okay..
Thanks for this

entirely not true. Used this device for a year before it got stolen. Best device I've ever used, considering I sold my galaxy s9 to get it then. One thing about Google pixels is that they work like the first day you bought it. They are the closest to iPhones. You expect everything to work right out of the box and stay that way. Another device I've heard to be similar is the oneplus brand.

However, in 2021, you should go for a modern device with guaranteed updates. Pixel 2xl is done in this department. Good luck on your decision!
Thanks for this sir

I also read somewhere that the Android 11 update placed it in total mess.
Are there any implications for not updating it to the latest software

My concern now is: does its old age have any effect on its functionalities at the moment especially with the upgrades
Phones / Is Google Pixel 2xl Still A Good Buy In 2021? (advice) by ChuckKingston(m): 9:17pm On Jul 19, 2021
There's a popular notion that in spite of the fact that pixel phones receive yearly update, it's old flagship phones tend to degrade in performance and reliability which makes it lag a lot and become less reliable.

I'm currently crushing on the Google pixel 2xl, but I'm unsure of its reliability, pros and cons, especially in 2021.

I'll appreciate a first hand experience from a former and current user of this device please before I finally make my choice.
