Most Nigerians hardly show appreciation for a kind gesture, and I am impressed that your friend is trying to show his appreciation. However, the amount you are quoting is way too much. Someone that earns 85K shouldn't be budgeting 100K so he can buy his helper a gift.

He should just budget no more than 20K. With that amount, the list of what you can get is endless. Cologne, Christmas hamper, live chicken....just name it. Don't go overboard with your gift because even the man is aware that the salary is meagre.

I’m sure if you check IG there’s bound to be shops advertising their Xmas sales. This is the best season to get designer perfumes on sale.

I think you could get him a nice bottle of perfume rather than alcohol. Alcohol will only destroy his health. A gift should be a blessing and last for a while so that the person can remember your kindness. Also a designer perfume costs a lot so just a bottle of perfume would be enough as a gift but if you add live chicken then you have gone above and beyond to show your appreciation.

What perfume would you recommend?? I think this is a good advice. It shouldn’t be more than a hundred thousand 100k. 80k would be perfect, so that I can use the remaining 20k for the life chicken .

A bottle of something he likes would be enough as a gift. If he doesn’t have the money now then he could save up and present the gift when he can afford it. To give his “destiny helper” a cheap gift could cause more friction than giving it later on when he could afford something befitting.

He knew the man longtime ago. But he was employed by this good man into a government board. Though he was employed with his O level and his salary is the normal minimum wage of 85k.

Initially he planned to buy the man a goat but just last month he lost his granny and doesn’t have enough cash to buy the goat. What else should he buy for the man in appreciation for the job he got for him?
