i believe the OP. that is the reason why the word(trend analysis) exist. one thing i notice about myself is that anytime i living a holy life, a life devoid of sins and abnormalities, things work out fine for me, but once i derail, i face hardship. i have been noticing this for some years, but one evil spirit/devil would be whispering to me that those happenings were normal that is, it doesnt pertain to my ways of living.
