Ikenna351: Since your gear 1 and reverse gear go in well, then your clutch system is not the culprit. I want to believe they installed a faulty tranny for you.Thanks for the prompt response Ikenna, I found that the return hose of the PAS pressure pipe was cut by the left Fan. I used a hose to connect it pack as a temporary solution. They could not weld it for risk of fire. About the newly installed manual gear box. I read in the User manual that I should use Total gear oil, so I bought it and took to my mech. When I asked him to drain the former oil that he had put, behold, we discovered that there was absolutely no oil, they had not put any oil at all, so I had been driving without any gear oil. We have now put the oil and all the gears are very easy to engage. I however notice smoke coming from my compressor with a foul smell. What could be the cause of that, I know it is not connected to the gear oil or power steering oil thing. The smoke was so obvious that you could notice it coming out of the bonnet. What could that be, never seen that before. |
Hello Ikenna and the Lion house! I need help with my 406 with an XU10 engine 2002 Model. It used to be an automatic tranny which developed problems, then I changed it an d installed a new one. Travelled from Lagos to Uyo and the new tranney would not start from gear one. Then I decided to convert it to a manual tranny. This is the first week of the Manuel conversion test drive. I have notice that it is very difficult to engage gears three and five (i will usually have to struggle to get it engaged). When I engage gear three, it makes this whooooo sound as I accelerate. I dont know what happened to my power steering system the oil suddenly leaked and I saw it dripping from below the radiator and the from bumper. The power sterring tank is now empty. What could be the cause of the difficulty in engaging the gears and what could have caused the power steering oil to just dissipate suddenly. What should I ask my mech to do. Thanks |
