PropertiesRe: Is Build To Rent A Good Investment? by chxCanada(m): 5:33pm On Jun 15, 2011
Personally I believe it is better to build a house for rent than to invest in stocks.

1. A house is a long-term investment that would last into old age and can be passed down to the children and children's children.
2. Houses do not depreciate and rents would always be on the increase.
3. In you old age when you are unable to work the house rents would keep you going better than any pension plan
4. My Dad was a contractor and for many years he could not find a contract, the eight 2-bedroom flats he had paid for our feeding, university education and today all his six children are abroad, even in his old age.
5. If you are looking for quick money please do not invest in housing.
6. There would always be demand for rental houses and nobody can talk me out of building for rent. I hope to have as many as I can and when I am old, by the grace of God, and too weak to work my many houses would pay my bills better than any pension plan

@Minidee

You should have simply asked how many trucks NNPC would require and I would have given you a reply instead of using such a nasty tone.

Well to answer your question, NNPC requires an official minimum of 10 trucks. But if you know your way your 1 truck would be accepted that is if you have a godfather or you settle with the NNPC man in charge of the trucks. As for me I was trying to use a politician who was also into oil/trucking business to influence the guys in control.

You get paid up to a million per truck only if your truck is doing long haul like Lagos to maybe Kano, or sokoto, just long distance. If your truck is doing short distances like Lagos to ibadan or within lagos you'd be paid less.

Hello every one,

Don't go into any deal with these guys who wanna offer you 300k for your trailer, it's a rip off. Trailers generate far more than that.

Before I got my visa in sept 2010 I was about doing haulage myself and made a lot of enquiries. I intended to get my trailer into NNPC. They pay around N1 million a month for your trailer and they'd pay the driver and maitain your truck. These guys would just take your truck, pay you 300k and make 700k off you.

To get a good truck and body would cost you about 8 to 10 million naira and a return of just 200-300k is not smart. There are so many businesses out there that i can do with 12mill that would fetch me many many times more than that. You truck management guys should have some concience. 300k is too small you should at least pay peolple like 700 or 800k/month and stop discouraging people that want to do business simply because we dont have the time or we are abroad,
