Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Iyiola Omisore, made some assertions on Channels TV. I attempt as a freelance journalist to fact check some of his claims and below are my findings: Omisore- Governor Adeleke is begging to join APC Fact: Confidential reports and snippets from the Presidency indicated that Yoruba agenda is behind the push to force the Governor to defect. The Presidency indeed extended an invitation to Governor Adeleke. So this claim is FALSE. Omisore: Governor Adeleke is a political orphan. He has nowhere to go. Fact: The Governor is on good terms with all the factions in PDP. He is also being courted by the ADC. His options are many. But he appears to be bowing to the invitation from the Presidency on the strength of Yoruba agenda. So the second of the former senator is FALSE. Omisore- Governor Adeleke failed as a Governor Fact: Several reports from federal bodies and parastatals as well as public review and rating confirm that Governor Adeleke has delivered on good governance across all sectors within the short stay in office. The confirmation of good performance emanates from even APC members and several non-partisan residents. The accusation of non-performance against the Governor is clearly FALSE. Omisore: Osun PDP is weak and can be easily defeated by the APC. Fact: Osun PDP presently produces all the three senators, nine House of Representatives, 24 out of 25 House of Assembly and the government of Osun state. Such a party cannot be described as weak. Checks showed that Osun APC is truly weak and unpopular. This claim of the Senator is therefore FALSE. Omisore- Adeleke should go and test his popularity in another party instead of APC Fact: All the reports and insider details show that the majority of the Adelekes and their supporters prefer to remain in PDP. Our fact check revealed that the push for defection is not their will. The pressure emanated from the need to support a Yoruba man for reelection as president. Omisore- If election is held today in Osun, APC will win Fact: This statement is unsupported by facts on ground across Osun state. Osun APC is highly loathed by Osun people due to several factors. If an election is conducted today, APC may come a distant third after PDP and ADC. The senators' claim in this respect is FALSE. Omisore - Adeleke family is diverting Osun state resources. Fact: The claim is found to be libelous and seditious. There is no fact to support the claim of diversion of funds as evidence abound of several capital projects, payments of half salary, payment of pension debt and several other state programmes. The claim from the Senator has no grounding in facts and appears to be like a mere political talk. The Senator's claim is FALSE. Omisore- Adeleke family don't keep to political agreements. Fact: Osun political history with respect to the Adeleke family proved the statement of Mr Omisore wrong. What caused disagreement between the senator and the Adeleke family in 2014 was the refusal of Senator Omisore to apologize for previous ill-treatment of the Adelekes. The overconfidence of the Omisore camp led to his refusal to mend fences with the Adelekes. The Adelekes then pulled out of the PDP to join the APC. As for the alleged sour deal with Ogunbiyi, evidence showed that there were no agreements as Mr Ogunbiyi made outrageous demands which led to the parting of ways between the two parties. Reports indicated that Ogunbiyi loyalists later engaged in anti-party activities. As for Mr Rauf Aregbesola, insider reports indicated the agreement between the two groups was observed until disagreements on national politics. Up till now, nominees of Aregbesola into Adeleke's government are still in office. So the Adelekes did not breach any agreement with Mr Aregbesola. So the claim of a serial non-observance of agreement against the Adelekes is FALSE. Omisore- Adelekes must reach us if he wants to join the APC Fact: Our review is that if the Adelekes have not reached out to APC leaders in Osun, it confirmed that the governor is really not behind the push for defection. It shows that the defection is engineered by forces bigger than both Osun APC and PDP. Fact checked is that both parties are not in the driver seat on the issue of realignment due to the overriding question of Yoruba agenda. Omisore- I am not scared of Adeleke coming to APC Fact: Verifiable report showed that the Senator is really not happy with the Adelekes coming to APC because such will overshadow and cripple his political life. The Senator appears to be unhappy with the drive to strengthen the President's Yoruba base using the Adeleke government. From the interview, he disagreed with the widely held view that only the Adelekes can safely deliver Osun state for the APC. So the claim of the Senator is FALSE. Omisore-Adeleke cannot win second term as Governor Fact: Several survey results in recent months proved otherwise. Osun people appear disposed to an Adeleke second term. The various strata of the society seems to have endorsed him for a second term due to his reported deliveries across all the sectors. Our fact check showed that whichever party platform Governor Adeleke is using to run for governorship, workers, pensioners, artisans and the voting public are likely to back him. The public see the 2026 election as a race among individuals, not political parties. The Senator's claim is, therefore, FALSE. ● Adeolu Adekunle is a freelance reporter with Osun Spring Newspaper.

The Unstoppable Mandate: Why President Tinubu Wants Governor Adeleke in APC In the quietness of Nigeria’s unfolding political chessboard, a silent reality is dawning on the nation’s power brokers: Osun 2026 is no longer a contest of strength, it is a contest of wisdom. And at the center of it all stands one man, Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Imole of Osun State. Since his emergence, Governor Adeleke has become something far greater than just a governor. He has become a movement, a phenomenon, and a symbol of hope for a people long battered by political oppression and elite arrogance. In every corner of Osun, from the markets of Ilesa to the streets of Ede, from the artisans in Ife to the farmers in Ejigbo, one truth echoes without resistance, Governor Adeleke is loved. Not by force. Not by money. Not by manipulation. But by the sheer power of humility, compassion, and performance. Federal power knows this truth. Intelligence reports confirm it. Security memos quietly admit it. Even within the ranks of the APC itself, whispers of this reality have become confessions: no aspirant in Osun APC today can defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in a free or rigged election. It is not for lack of trying. Names have been floated, alliances tested, strategies drafted, but none can match the magnetic hold Adeleke has on the people of Osun. He has become more than a governor, he has become the people's governor. Attempts to rig him out will only ignite chaos. Efforts to manipulate the process will only expose the limits of power when confronted by genuine popularity. The Playbook Has Changed: Bring Him In President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a master of political survival, knows this more than anyone. For him, Osun is not just about 2026; Osun is the gateway to the 2027 presidential elections. In the complex arithmetic of Nigerian politics, Osun holds a key not because of its numbers alone, but because of the symbolic statement it carries for the Southwest. A sitting PDP governor entrenched and unshakable in APC territory is a threat too dangerous to ignore. But this is no longer a fight to be won with federal might. It is a reality to be embraced through strategic accommodation. Thus, the play is simple: Bring Adeleke in. Don’t fight him, align with him. Let his strength become APC’s strength. Let his popularity feed into the larger vision of Southwest consolidation ahead of 2027. Behind the scenes, emissaries are moving. Conversations are ongoing. Alliances are being quietly tested. Not because Adeleke is weak or desperate, but because the center understands that inclusion is wiser than confrontation. *Governor Adeleke: Beyond Osun, A National Figure in the Making* Governor Adeleke’s influence today stretches beyond the borders of Osun. In Lagos, in Abuja, across the entertainment corridors of influence, within youth movements, and even among traditional rulers, he commands a rare blend of respect, admiration, and affection. He represents a new kind of leadership accessible, joyful, deeply connected to the pulse of the people, yet serious about governance. His family’s global connections, his personal humility, and his surprising depth in statecraft have positioned him as a future stakeholder in Nigeria’s broader political future. Adeleke is no longer just a governor; he is fast becoming a reference point for what leadership could look like in the Nigeria of tomorrow~people-first, humble, and grounded. Why President Tinubu Cannot Ignore Gov. Adeleke? President Tinubu’s genius has never been in raw force; it has always been in political foresight. He sees what others ignore. He knows when to fight and when to embrace. In Gov Adeleke, he sees a man whose hold on Osun is unbreakable. He sees a governor who, if left in the opposition, could embolden forces against APC’s Southwest supremacy. To keep Osun safe for APC, and to keep the 2027 roadmap intact, Tinubu must act—not as a conqueror but as a unifier. Bringing Adeleke into APC neutralizes a threat and strengthens the house. It is not weakness; it is strategy. It is not surrender; it is political brilliance. Conclusion: The Healing Hand of Politics! In the end, politics is not always about war. Sometimes, it is about wisdom. It is about understanding when a battle is not necessary and when peace serves greater purposes. Governor Ademola Adeleke is not just holding Osun; he is holding a light that many are drawn to. A light that speaks of simplicity, service, and sincerity. President Tinubu’s interest in Adeleke is not rooted in fear, it is rooted in foresight. For Osun’s peace, for Southwest unity, for 2027 stability, bringing the Imole into the fold is the smartest move yet. Because where love lives, rigging cannot survive. Where the people stand, federal might must bow. And where light shines, darkness must adjust. Osun 2026 is not about who can win, everyone knows who already has. It is about how best to embrace that reality for the greater political good. And President Tinubu, more than anyone, knows how to turn such reality into advantage. Bad road: Adeleke already addressing Aduramigba community grievances- Commissioner Osun State Government, under the able leadership of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke has taken a lasting step towards addressing the agitations of the people of Aduramigba Community in Egbedore Local Government. This was contained in a release issued by the Hon. Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs Alh. Ganiyu Olaoluwa who doubles as the Chairman of the Committee set up by Mr. Governor to investigate the cause of the agitation of the Community. The road was chosen as a rural road by Osun Rural Access and Mobility Project in 2014 to provide access to farmers to take their farm produce to the nearby market. However, development has sprang up at the corridor of the road making the road not fit for rural classification any longer thus making the standard of specification vary from the state intervention. The fact-finding Committee met members of the Aduramigba Community, particularly the Youths at the Palace of the Olu of Aduramigba. In his response to the complaints of the people, the Hon. Commissioner, who led the Committee to Aduramigba Community said the Government is ready to meet all their demands within a short period. While appealing to the Community to exercise patience and give peace a chance, he informed them that the report of the corrections demanded on the road would be immediately submitted to Mr. Governor for action. Alhaji Olaoluwa added that all other demands of the Community would be forwarded to Mr. Governor, who would direct the relevant Agencies to look into them without delay. While assuring that the Government of Senator Adeleke is a listening Government, he used the opportunity to urge Aduramigba Community and others to always take their grievances to the Government instead of resorting to protests, which could be hijacked negatively. Speaking, the Olu of Aduramigba HRH. Oba Emmanuel Babatunde Abidogun commended the Government for having a listening ear for attending to their grievances speedily. In separate speeches from the members of the Community they expressed appreciation to Government for the timely intervention while also praying that their demands for provision of basic social amenities be met in good time

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has once again refuted the claim made by former Senator Ajibola Basiru of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the status of certain individuals allegedly employed into the civil service at the tail end of the immediate past administration. The PDP described the remarks as mere crocodile tears from a sore loser. The party reminded Mr Basiru that the Osun State civil service is governed by established laws and cannot be manipulated for political vendettas. It noted that many APC loyalists were hastily and unlawfully absorbed into the civil service in the twilight of Mr Gboyega Oyetola’s administration, not through due process but as a political trap for the incoming PDP government. In a statement from the Osun PDP media office, signed by the party Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, the party condemned the desperate attempt by the embattled APC governorship aspirant to label the last-minute and irregular exercise as genuine employment. The party emphasized that all legal protocols were flagrantly disregarded in what was clearly a politically motivated move "Senator Basiru’s attempt to castigate Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is futile. The good people of Osun, who voted out the APC, are fully aware of the deceit hidden in that last-minute employment charade," the statement read. "It is indeed laughable that an APC government which neglected workers' welfare for years, failing to employ or conduct any statutory promotion for the existing workforce, suddenly began distributing civil service slots after losing the 2022 election. Clearly, this was not governance but an act of clear desperation." The PDP urged Osun residents to recall the hardship workers endured under the APC regime: over 30 months of unpaid salaries, stalled promotions, and a demoralized workforce. Many workers only began to enjoy their rightful benefits, including regularized promotions with appropriate salary backing, under Governor Adeleke’s leadership. "It is unfortunate that those who presided over such a dark era in Osun civil service now seek to distract a genuinely empathic administration with baseless accusations," The PDP reaffirmed that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke remains committed to filling genuine vacancies in the state civil service through a transparent and lawful process, unlike the irregularities that characterized the APC’s last-minute actions.

●Our Government is Committed to Human Capital Development - Gov Adeleke Governor Ademola Adeleke has shed more light on how Osun state achieved the extraordinary leap from 33rd to 7th position in national examination rating as released recently by the National Examination Council (NECO). Speaking exclusively to Osun Spring Newspaper at the Government House this morning, Governor Adeleke said the result was the outcome of team work and direct implementation of several measures by his administration from 2022 to date. The Governor explained that several reasons account for improved learning outcomes in Osun State, citing as number one reason the rapid improvement in the learning environment. The state governor said several schools are being rehabilitated to provide a conducive environment for the students and pupils, listing over 150 schools as already rehabilitated. He listed the decision of the administration to attend to the many needs of teachers across the schools as a major motivating factor, adding that “our teachers are well motivated and give their best to teach and support our students. “Our government did a lot for the teachers in terms of service conditions. They told me they have rest of mind as regular payments of salaries and entitlements are not to be joked with”, the governor noted. The Governor listed the engagement of former principals and vice principals whom he said has further stabilized the education system, noting that the decision blocks leakages in the learning process. Aside from the above, Governor Adeleke said the administration has been conducting targeted training and retraining of teachers, a programme he said has further developed the capacity of the teachers across the state. “Our government also regularly distributed learning materials of various types to the schools, teachers and students. The materials strengthen our schools, the teachers and the students”, Governor Adeleke stated. He also gave kudos to the Parent and Teachers’ Association (PTA) for a renewed attention to family responsibility in the education of the students and pupils, commending the state PTA leadership for being strong partners with the government. On teachers recruitment, the Governor said now that the government has consolidated the existing personnel within the schools, the next step is the release of letters to the first batch of new teachers. According to the Governor, the financial implications for sustainability is being finalised to further add new personnel to the teachers poll. He repeated his earlier position that the main target of the government is to attain first position in the national rating, pledging that the administration is doing more to achieve the first grade rating. Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has announced his renewed commitment to human capital development. He made the pledge while declaring open the District conference of the Rotary District 9126 at Ede. The governor said he associates with the Rotary club today and all the time because his governance agenda aligns with that of the global club. “Touching lives positively is the hallmark of a good leader. Contributing to the growth of the society is a must for all people -oriented leadership. What the Rotary club is doing at a non-governmental level is what our administration is implementing as a government”, the Governor told the audience which includes Governor Rauf Aregbesola Governor Adeleke said we are addressing the needs of our people across age grades as we revived bursary payments to students and granted seniors free health services through the state health insurance scheme. “We revive agriculture mechanisation to deploy farming as a tool against poverty. We reduced Osun infrastructure deficit by over 45 percent as we upgraded rural and urban infrastructure across the nine federal Constituencies. “Our government restored pipe borne water in a statewide programme to rehabilitate our water works and water schemes. Primary health care has been strengthened to bring health care to the grassroots. “Our administration places direct emphasis on human capital development, hence the regular payment of workers and pensioners’ entitlements. Workers welfare is indeed the number one item on our governance agenda. “Our push to revive Osun society has been yielding positive results. Few days ago, Osun moved to 7th position on the national examinations rating from 33rd in 2022. “Few weeks earlier, the Federal Debt Management Office confirmed that Osun has reduced its debt by over 45 percent. The state was placed 3rd on the debt reduction table among the 36 states. “I invite us to note that while we are reducing our state debt, we are not borrowing to fund any existing project. All the mega projects in the infrastructure sector are being funded through our internally generated revenue, national allocations, among others”, the Governor told the audience. Signed Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the State Governor.

Osun Leaders of Thought (OLT) has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke not to defect to the All Progressive Congress(APC) but advised him to fully support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027. In a statement issued in response to raging agreement of defection and coalition formation, the group listed four reasons why Governor Adeleke should not leave the PDP despite reported pressure from external forces. “We take note of mounting pressure from far and near to get Governor Ademola Adeleke to cross over to the APC. This is ill-advised and unnecessary. The Governor should remain in PDP and continue the good work he is doing for the good people of Osun state. “We proceed to call on the Governor to support the re-election of Mr President. President Tinubu's ancestral state is Osun and we have a duty to support our son no matter the situation. We call on the Governor to sustain his support for Mr President. It must be done as a matter of duty. “To Mr President, our dear Governor and lovers of both leaders, we forcefully affirm that it will be counterproductive for the Governor to move over to the APC. Such a move will complicate matters for both the President and the governor. It will become a distraction for both occupants of Aso Rock and Abere. “We hasten to list the following as reasons. First, Mr Governor is a brand with huge street credibility and huge command of Osun electoral streets. To win Osun, Adeleke's brand is a must for the President without dilution. “Secondly, the state APC is presently too toxic with mounting internal implosion. The party also suffers a huge credibility crisis among Osun people. Osun will be plunged into political warfare if Governor Adeleke is to join the APC. Thirdly, Osun political gladiators are best kept under separate roofs. We cannot have an Oyetola, Omisore, Akogun Lere, the Adelekes and so many leaders with old battles under the same roof. That house will burn and the President will regret pushing for such. “And lastly, there is a bipartisan agreement on the re-election of both President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke. Our surveys across Osun confirm this reality. Osun does not have to be a one party state to achieve re-election of her two star - sons”, the group noted in the statement. The group therefore tasked leaders at local and national level to strike a deal between the Presidency and Governor Adeleke, calling such a deal the most politically appropriate action within the context of Osun politics. “We call on Mr President and the Governor of Osun state to enter into a mutual supportive agreement. Nothing like defection should be included. We speak on behalf of many silent leaders of thought across Osun state”, the group concluded. The apparent sign that Mr Bola Oyebamiji is the defacto candidate of the All Progressive Congress for 2026 has created another splinter group that is likely to be as strong as the Aregbesola group that quitted the APC ahead of the 2022 guber polls. A major political group within the state APC is regrouping pulling together all party tendencies that opposed alleged autocratic action of the former Governors Gboyega Oyetola and Bisi Akande, the duo said to be pushing for the NIWA boss as a consensus candidate. It was gathered that the two former Governors were not only rooting for Oyebamiji but are also insisting that only an affirmative primary will be held to annoint the Ikire politician, a dictatorial actions said to be pishing off many party members. A new group christened “Majiyagbe Progressives” held its first meeting on Monday 13th with a resolve to push against the two former Governors in their bid to impose Oyebamiji. A disgruntled APC chieftain who attended the meeting confirmed the emergence of the Majiyagbe group and warned against the insistence of the two Governors to follow the same path that led to the exit of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola from the party. “I seek to be anonymous. The fact is we are angry and unhappy. We sticked our neck out for the Minister all along only for him to abandon democracy and design an imposition of his puppet who cannot win a cancellorship election at Ikire. It is not just the choice of the former Commissioner but the way the minister is going about it. “We were told he is bitter we asked him not to run against Adeleke. But are we not right? Adeleke beat you as an incumbent. How can you beat him with such bad records? Adeleke has also won the hearts of the people. The minister ignored wise counsels when he was inside and we lost. Must we field a dead horse again in 2026? “Why must he punish us for doing the right thing? Now he is bringing a former commissioner who is widely known to be very weak and cannot even control Irewole? Oyebamiji cannot face Senator Lere Oyewumi at Ikire. Why are these former Governors leading the our party on the path of destruction? “We now see some reasons on the Aregbesola saga. This was how the former Governors sent Aregbesola out of the party and we lost in 2022. They have started again. “We form the new group to vow to resist any attempt to impose Oyebamiji on us. We must learn lessons even if bitter. The former governors are not the owners of APC. We are all stakeholders”, the politicain who hail from Isokan local government affirmed.

WHY WE ARE QUITTING APC IN THOUSANDS - LEADERS OF OSUN APC DECAMPEES Leaders of former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have explained why they defected to the APC, declaring that more decampees are on the way. In a statement signed by 31 leaders among those who decamped from all the 30 local governments and Area office, the group described their defection as “real, authentic, widespread and in thousands, not hundreds. “We decide to issue this statement following controversy generated by a survey report from the Democracy Polling Agency which affirmed that 45 percent of Oyetola faction of the APC have defected to the PDP. “We want to confirm that many of us were interviewed by the researchers who asked several questions from us. Many of us across the local governments were interviewed. When we saw the report, we knew it reflected our position. “We left APC because the party has become unfocused, unpopular, anti-people, vendetta driven and unelectable. We left the APC because we want to be part of good things happening in our state. We are glad Governor Ademola Adeleke has turned around the fortunes of Osun state for the better. “We don't want to be part of the failure of the past. Osun's government failed in the past under APC and we now have a government of PDP that is doing the bidding and aspirations of the people. We decided to be part of the success story. “We also want to clarify that we have no problem with old members we met on the ground in the PDP. They are wonderful host and we are joining hands to build a better state. As new members, our goal is to ensure the re-election of Mr Governor. We want the good work to continue. “To the APC, we are real leaders from across the local governments who left your party for PDP. We put our names on this statement so the public can know we are real. “We can assert that more than 50 percent of Ileri Oluwa APC have left for PDP. More APC members are joining the PDP. It is a continuous exercise”, the statement concluded. E-Signed: 1.Hon. Osun Education Forum Lauds Adeleke for Returning Land to Osogbo Technical College A professional group, Osun Education Forum has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for revoking alleged approval given to a private developer to build an estate on a disputed land belonging to the Osogbo Technical College. In a statement signed by the group Secretary General, Adesope Adejuwon, the group appreciated the courage and patriotism displayed by Governor Adeleke, supporting the Governor's position that building an estate on school land is not a good optic to a public spirited administration like the Adeleke administration. " The re-acquired school land should be used for educationally related projects. The state should submit a tech hub proposal to TETFUND and other funders", the group suggested. The group further implored Mr Governor to ensure that all legal disputes on the land are resolved as quickly as possible. The group suggested the holding of a stakeholder meeting on the issue to ensure out of court settlement and decisions on educational application of the college land. "Our Forum commends Mr Governor. We know he would not have supported such an anri-education action as an estate on school land. We urge him to continue to be the voice of the people and public interest", the group stated. The group urged top state officials to always emphasis public interest rather than private gains in their decisions and actions, adding "we are proud of Governor Adeleke for upholding public rather than private interests in public governance"

Nigeria's democracy has entered into a troubling phase, facing an uncertain future. And the source of the problem is in the disturbing posture of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, which suggested that poll may no longer be the path to power any longer in Nigeria as democracy, everywhere, is known for. "In this (South) geopolitical zone, we must deliver 100 percent in favour of APC. Therefore, Ondo State, you must be the forefront of the two other states–Oyo and Osun– we will capture them, but I will not reveal our secret. We are strategising. Everything must be 100 per cent behind President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu," Ganduje was quoted to have said at a stakeholders' meeting of the party in Akure on Sunday. But it is just not the Southwest that Ganduje has in mind for conquest. In August this year, Ganduje provided a stark overview of what the future of Nigeria's democracy will look like by indicating that the APC will take Edo state, which will be followed by Anambra next year because "we (APC) have introduced a new scheme" and then go on to seal it by "encroaching into that (South-East) zone to ensure that we capture most of the states. And if we get what we want, we will capture all the states." By capture, Ganduje was simply telling Nigerians that ballots may no longer be the means to decide leadership. This will mean that Nigeria is on its way to a one-party state, which many have feared is the ultimate goal of Ganduje and his party. It is frightening, right? But the truth, which is in plain view is that Ganduje doesn’t seem to agree that the choice of leadership in a democracy solely rests with the people. Ganduje, of course, may pretend that is not the case but unfolding events have clearly shown where he is headed and it is not something good. Democracy, anywhere it is adopted as a form of government, is anchored on the people exercising the power to choose who administers their affairs through the ballots. What, in fact, makes democracy appealing more to the people is that it gives them much say on who leads them. However, this is what Ganduje has been pointedly hinting will be gone, yet no one seems to care. In all of these, Ganduje hide under the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu to fly his anti-democratic tendency, but that did not tell the whole story. This is why it is worrying to note that, Ganduje who should be at the forefront of promoting the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria, is actually trying to pull the plug and set Nigeria on the path of authoritarianism. Democracy can only work when the people have a choice. That is what Ganduje is trying to take away from Nigeria with his subtle but open attempt to take everything, not by the ballots but forcefully. In Osun, for instance, the people endured horrible experiences under the APC for several years, with public infrastructures in a deplorable state just as the welfare of workers and pensioners suffered great neglect. It was the option of an alternative that democracy offers that provided succour to the people in 2022, bringing about a government that eases their pains and set the course for better living conditions. In less than two years in office, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who emerged through the will of the people, has turned things around for the better, offering a refreshing experience on governance to people who have suffered misrule for a very long time. Take, for instance, the welfare of the people. Before Governor Adeleke came to power, the welfare of active workers and pensioners was treated with levity, exerting an unimaginable amount of pain on those segments of the society. It was so bad that the promotion given to workers in 2019 by the APC administration didn't go beyond the paper it was typed as no financial benefits followed it. It took the coming of Governor Adeleke for the long wait of the workers to end, as he implemented the financial implications of the promotions even though he didn't initiate it. The same thing with the payment of half salary owed to workers and pensioners by the APC administration. Governor Adeleke has so far paid six out of the thirty months of inherited wage debt to active workers and some categories of pensioners while retirees yet to receive their bonds have gotten as much as fifteen months of the owed half salary. It is important to note that Governor Adeleke has also paid up five months of cooperative deductions from workers' salaries owed by the previous administration. For pensioners, it was a lot more rosy as Governor Adeleke has shown serious commitment to their welfare. As against the experience of the past when pensioners were forced to pour into the streets in protest to demand their due entitlements, Governor Adeleke focused significant resources on offsetting the huge liabilities inherited. In less than two years, the Adeleke administration has released over N15 billion as bond to pensioners in the state, outpacing the combined two administrations of the APC which could only expend about N11 billion as bond to pensioners in twelve years. This is in addition to enrolling the entire pensioners in the state on healthcare coverage, ensuring that senior citizens can get treatment at no cost to them. It is worth emphasising that Osun is the first state in the whole of Nigeria to provide health coverage for retirees, taking responsibility for the healthcare of those who had given the best of their lives to the service of the state. In terms of infrastructural development, Governor Adeleke is doing a very good job. In October last year, Governor Adeleke unveiled an ambitious infrastructure plan, which will significantly expand the infrastructure of the state and upscale economic activities. So far, the infrastructure plan has yielded the construction of bridges in Osogbo and Ile-Ife while dual carriage roads are happening simultaneously in different parts of the state. As we speak, road construction is happening in each of the local governments of Osun just as the rehabilitation of public schools and primary healthcare centres is being undertaken to expand access. These and more are the things happening in Osun which Ganduje seeks to halt by capturing it, which implies rigging. Undoubtedly, for most Osun people, it is utterly disgusting for them to see how much Ganduje hold them in contempt, fiercely contesting their rights to choose who leads them. It gets more appalling when it is considered that this is the same Ganduje that was unable to win his home state of Kano for the APC in the presidential and governorship polls. As I reflected on the implications of Ganduje's capture comment, I fear that he may be unwittingly letting out the plan of his party to derail this democracy. If what it needs for a party to have a state is to capture it, and not the thumbs of the people, then we can forget about democracy. It is only in military regimes that capture, which entails a forceful takeover of power, is prevalent. That is the unfortunate scenario that Ganduje is trying to bring back. Terrifying, right? This is more reason why all people of conscience must rise against Ganduje's newfound approach to power because watching him get away with it will do no one any good, not even the APC. Osun is making steady progress and doesn't need Ganduje's capture to return to the ugly past when pains and anguish were the experience of the people. ● Sarafa Ibrahim is a Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Print Media and writes from Osogbo. |
A coalition of civil society organizations has slammed critics of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, accusing them of undermining the ongoing development efforts in the state. The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Good Governance, in a statement released yesterday, signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Olalekan Jonhson, labeled the Governor's harshest detractors as "enemies of Osun’s progress," specifically calling out members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). Comrade Olalekan stated that the recent wave of attacks on Adeleke was fueled by political bitterness rather than legitimate concerns for the state's welfare. He noted that these criticisms, often delivered in uncharitable terms, were aimed at destabilizing the Governor's administration, which has been making strides in key areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure. "Those who continually malign Governor Adeleke are not just attacking his person; they are attacking the hopes and aspirations of Osun citizens who are eager for positive change," Johnson said. He went on to emphasize that while constructive criticism is vital for a functioning democracy, the tone and intent of the opposition’s rhetoric suggest a desire to sabotage rather than improve governance. Johnson criticized the Osun APC for its continued hostility, accusing the party of being unwilling to move beyond its electoral defeat almost two years ago. "Their obsession with attacking the Governor has done little to contribute to constructive political discourse in Osun. Instead, they remain mired in personal vendettas that sow discord," he added. Despite these attacks, the coalition noted that Governor Adeleke enjoys broad support from Osun residents both within the state and in the diaspora. Johnson praised the Governor’s administration for fostering a sense of hope and unity among the people, expressing confidence that this collective spirit would propel Osun toward achieving its developmental goals. "The overwhelming support for Governor Adeleke is proof that the people of Osun are behind him and his vision for the state. The developmental strides in education, healthcare, and infrastructure are clear indicators of the progress being made," the coalition stated. The group however urged opposition members to set aside partisan politics and engage in meaningful dialogue that prioritises the welfare of the people. "We must focus on building our state, not tearing down its leaders," Johnson concluded.

Infractions Bothering on Employees’ Taxes & Payment of Accrued Financial Considerations on Shareholding by Thor Explorations Ltd of UK (Thor) and its Subsidiaries By Wale Bolorunduro, PhD (The subsidiaries are Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SRIOL or Segilola) & Segilola Gold Limited (SGL), Operators of Segilola Gold Project (SGP) by Osun State Government) Today, Thursday 26th September, 2024, the Government of Osun State has no choice than to inform the Osun public about our findings on the Thor Explorations UK and its Segilola Gold Project operated by Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL or Segilola). SROL is a company, domiciled in Nigeria, that operates the Segilola Gold Project (SGP), located in Iperindo, Osun State Nigeria. SROL is a subsidiary of Thor Explorations Ltd.(Thor), United Kingdom, a gold exploration and development company, listed on both the TSX Venture Exchange of Toronto (TSX-V:THX) and AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange (AIM:THX). It is appalling to discover non remittances of taxes deducted as PAYE taxes from its employees and that of the employees of its service providers/ operators, under the Personal Income Tax (PITA) and non compliance with the disclosure requirements under the extant law on taxation. The infractions, which cannot be tolerated for Thor, SROL and other associates in other jurisdictions are being perpetrated here, in Osun state. These include failure of Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROl) to remit, the balance on the 3.2 Billion Naira tax liability of the four (4) year (2019 - 2023 ) Interim assessment due to the State since 4th of July 2024 under the relevant tax law of the federation and that of the state as Pay as You Earn (PAYE) and the Withholding taxes (individuals) deductions, required to be remitted to the state(s) or federal under Personal Income Tax (PITA) and Company Income Tax (CITA). Shirking of its statutory responsibility to provide within 15 days, the basic tax Information/documents to substantiate its dispute of the 3.2 billion Naira tax liability such as: (a) The official Gazette from tax authority permitting the 5% of mining accommodation as Benefit in Kind (b) Breakdown of the Operating Cost by vendors, stipulating Name of vendors, Cost, Type of services and the amount paid to vendors, The address of vendors, etc (c) Evidence of remittance of withholding taxes (d) Submission of the General ledger/ activity reports and trial balances to verify salary and nominal payroll. These documents have been outstanding since 11th July, 2024, despite the fact that the onus of proof is on the tax payer (SROL) according to Personal Income Tax Act (PITA). This is a deliberate attempt to delay payment and allegedly to evade taxes on direct and indirect employees, contrary to section 81(3) of PITA. Non disclosure of all the service providers, operating in the same location and on the same Segilola Gold Project, who are providing services to SROL by direct or indirect recruitment and via outsourcing of employees. Thereby, allegedly hiding employees under these service providers and allegedly evading corresponding PAYE Taxes due to Osun state. While Sinic Engineering Ltd has been evasive, ATF Consulting Limited has failed to pay fully the 160 million Naira, undisputed interim tax liability Demanded by Osun state but rather paid partially 100 million Naira and abandoned the outstanding since August 26th,2024. The company, ATF has refused to pay for Business Premises levy, claiming they operate within Segilola’s premises. The progressive assessment established against the company, ATF has increased the tax liability to 436 million Naira as tax intel trickles in. Other operators such as Monurent Nigeria Limited, Deep Rock Drilling Services and CEFO Security Limited are yet to present themselves to Osun state tax authority and we can not find their records of self assessment as requested by the tax laws. These are clear violations of section 64 of CITA on the premises of Segilola Gold Project, operated by Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) and a subsidiary of Thor Explorations UK. The Governor would like to assure the public and the media that due process has been followed and in accordance with the extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Personal Income and Company Income Taxes. The Agencies of Government and their technocrats have carried out proper assessments; the review and meetings had been held to encourage Segilola and its associates to pay promptly, while the onus of proof remains with them, according to the extant laws on taxation. Regrettably, the Company, SROL has engaged in subterfuge to allegedly evade tax by failing to disclose, fully, its service providers, using the same premises and their corresponding tax information required by the state for proper tax assessment of their employees, staff and labour. This has reflected in the delay and extra work that the government officials had to go through. An obstruction under section 97 of PITA. The State Government had no choice than to take action now, no matter how temporary or subtle, on the failure of the company to provide tax information on the 3.2Billion Naira, Four (4) year PAYE Assessment and withholding tax (individuals) remittance, on full disclosure basis to the Government since 11th July, 2024 deadline given to the company. Despite the fact that the burden of proof is on the taxpayer (Segilola), according to the Personal Income Tax Act (PITA); we have done our best. How Thor Explorations Ltd U.K with Disclosure requirement, mandated by virtue of its public listing on London and Toronto stock exchanges couldn’t rein in its subsidiaries and operators on its premises in Nigeria, is still a nightmare to the state government. Also, it is unfortunate that Thor Explorations Ltd of United Kingdom listed on London and Toronto Stock Exchanges will allow its subsidiaries and associates on Segilola Gold Project to embark on an unholy structuring of their payroll, commercial activities without full disclosures of all operators, allegedly to evade the tax payments due to Osun state. We are alarmed that what cannot be condoned in other jurisdictions is being carried out by Thor Explorations, U.K and its operatives in Osun state. The various extant laws on taxes gives statutory power to states to collect taxes and levies on employees salaries and certain commercial activities without prejudice to The Minerals and Mining Act. Therefore, Osun state will do whatever is legal, no matter how temporary, it is to fulfill the statutory obligation of the government to Osun state citizens. We don’t want them out of Osun state but they must fulfill their obligations and responsibilities to Osun state. In the same vein, but purely commercial, It was Segilola Resources Operating Limited that carried out strategic annihilation of Osun State‘s interest in the ownership of the Tropical Mines Limited (TML) in 2016 and the eventual Commercial transaction of Transformational Acquisition by Thor Explorations Limited (Thor) UK, without due financial considerations to Osun State. While other legacy co-shareholders of Tropical Mines Ltd got financial considerations for the Commercial Transaction, which includes Shares in Thor Explorations Ltd UK and other financial considerations; Osun state got nothing, based on our review of the transaction, which commenced in early 2023. For the past twenty months, the company, Segilola has refused to honour its commitment to commence payments on the accrued financial considerations due to Osun state on the Transformational acquisition of Osun interest between 2016 and 2019. Even, when a tenor repayment plan payable over two years was offered by Osun state Governor to them to preserve the need to encourage the national and the state investment drives in the mining sector. The efforts and demand of Osun state to realize our claims, which is over 60 billions Naira in monetary value and Redeemable shares as financial considerations for acquiring Osun state’s interest in Tropical Mines Ltd have always been rebuffed by Segilola Operating Resources Ltd. At least four (4) meeting had been held with the Executive Governor, H.E Governor Adeleke and the CEO of SROL, Mr Segun Lawson in attendance and with promises made to commence payment. Only for the company to renege on its Promises and chose to go and misrepresent the state in Abuja, Ministry of Solid Minerals. At the initial stage of our claims, in early 2023, Segilola said we were not entitled to any shares of Thor Explorations Ltd UK; it was after confronting them with facts and figures that they agreed that Osun state has bonus shares, which is 5.1million shares of Thor Uk. We have said, assuming we take that share allocation without conceding, what about other financial considerations given to other shareholders, Segilola has been evasive and whenever, they appear, they always direct Osun state to Tropical Mines Ltd (TML), a company, whose assets had been stripped by Segilola without “winding it down”. So how can TML take liability to pay Osun State, again?. Directing us to TML offends our collective sensibility as people with culture and dignity. It is the responsibility of Thor UK to return the values which ought to have been given to Osun State abinitio. As co-shareholder in Thor, UK. Osun deserves to treated with fairness, equity and without prejudice to our interest. Let no mischief makers, political oppositions especially Osun APC spin it, in their usual dirty way. Recovering Osun interest and encouraging a global company, (though a junior Miner) to treat its co-shareholder properly is proper under company law and in any jurisdiction. The fact that Thor has admitted a shareholding proportion, which is significant in the Legacy Company, Tropical Mines Ltd makes Osun state a significant shareholder. All we are saying is that Osun state has capacity to de-convolute the complex structure employed to gradually, strip the osun state’s interest between 2016 and 2019. We know the roles played by various special purpose vehicles (SPVs) that were set up, including Segilola Resources Operating Limited , Segilola Gold Ltd and the eventual transformational acquisition by Thor Explorations Ltd, UK. Unlike the previous administration, we are not interested in selling Osun’s interests, which include the shares, partially redeemed, now and grudgingly so by Thor Explorations UK from the complex and multiple-convoluted commercial transaction. We will continue to pursue the cash considerations and others, due to Osun state, without loosing our dignity and without compromising our integrity. The State Governor, H.E Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has met with the CEO of Segilola Resources Operating Limited, Mr Segun Lawson, severally and directed the commencement of the payment of claims due to Osun state, only for the company to go to the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals to mis-represent the issue, allegedly, to evade making good their commitment. Thor UK has listed Directors and ownership can be obtained from its Company Registrar, so for Osun APC members that are full of gibberish and cynicism, they can go and check, if Adeleke are in Thor Explorations UK, in any form, directly and indirectly. I can tell you for free; they were not involved in 2016, when the transformation was done, they were not involved between 2016 and 2019, when Segilola Gold Project, the Project company was packaged and made bankable. The state under Governor Ademola Adeleke had made official submission in writing to the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals and other federal agencies on the commercial transaction of stripping Osun interest in the Tropical Mines Ltd and our claims, which has nothing to do with the operation of The Nigeria minerals & Mining Act, an exclusive right of Federal Government. During the last visit to the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals, to be specific, on the 15th of August 2024, the Federal technocrats including the Permanent Secretary and Directors of the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals agreed with Osun state contingent that we are free to make our commercial claims on such legacy interest and rights of the state under the shareholding of the legacy Tropical Mines Ltd, now complexly transformed as Thor Explorations UK. The current government of Osun state is not interested in chasing away Thor Explorations UK, out of Osun state or shut down Segilola Gold Project, No!! Governor Adeleke is clear headed and sincere on this; we will encourage them to improve on their business and operational practices, so as to become Senior Miner and bring values to Osun state as its co-shareholders. That’s what private companies do. The amiable Governor of Osun state, HE Senator, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has always said he is only interested in the collection of Osun monies for Osun developments and progress. He has also said he is not interested in the time wasting probe, required to determine the transaction that led to the stripping of Osun State‘s interest in the ownership of the Tropical Mines Limited (TML) in 2016, but rather, the Governor is focusing on the amount due in two parts as (a) financial considerations on the commercial transaction and (b) the taxes due to the state under Personal Income Tax Act (PITA) as PAYE and levies payable to states under the extant laws of the Federation and the state. We will not hesitate to petition the Securities Exchanges of Toronto and that of London for our claims and use our statutory power on PAYE collection. Osun state will like to assure the public that all these amount due from Segilola have nothing to do with mineral rights under The Nigeria Minerals and Mining Act that are strictly under the legislative power of Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), called The Nigeria Minerals and Mining Act. The mineral right over the mine is still intact as vested by the Federal Government and under the beneficiary of the Operating Mineral License (OML), I.e Segilola. We will try to avoid the diversionary tactics of Segilola, which is to place the Osun State Government in collision with the Federal Government through blackmail and mis-representation. We will continue to support the national drive to encourage investment in the solid mineral sector, especially in a responsible and sustainable manner, while protecting Osun state’s interest. Let Segilola pay the PAYE taxes and the accrued financial considerations due to Osun State, from the stripping of our interests in the legacy asset company, the Tropical mines Ltd (TML). We have escalated our claims on Osun state’s shareholding interest to Thor Explorations Ltd UK, a publicly quoted company in London and Toronto stock exchanges. Our Expectation is that the Chairman of Thor Explorations UK will compel the Company Secretary and Segilola Resources Operating Ltd or its “Alter Ego” on the board of Thor to resolve the issues with Osun state by delivering our due considerations to us. That is the best global corporate governance practice, asking Osun state, a shareholder to wait again to do a meeting in another 30 days with Thor Explorations UK Board is tantamount to unfair treatment in a manner that is prejudicial to our interest and rights as shareholder. We salute the courage of our finding fathers, who invested Osun’s money and kept faith with the developmental works that enabled it to become an investible asset class. As a responsible government we shall continue to monitor the environmental impacts of Segilola exploration, drilling, developmental and mining activities because Environment is under the concurrence list of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN). We will allow the Federal agencies to monitor this in line with its guidelines, while we expect Segilola Gold Project Operators to comply with the Osun state protocol on environmental impacts also. We have concerns in the area of high level of particulates in the air, possible acid drains from the waste rocks, etc. We have claims on environmental levy and we will soon publish our inspectorate report, once access is granted to the site.

Retirees under the aegis of Progressive Pensioners have said they would resist any attempt by some politicians to turn them to political machineries to fight the fingers that are feeding them , saying they resist any attempt to lure into opposite parties. The pensioners also warned that they should reject reject underground reach out by agents of the opposition party. In a statement signed by Adeyemi Olayiwola for and on behalf of Progressive Pensioners commended the governor Ademola Adeleke for prioritizing the welfare of the pensioners and keeping faith with them. "Our attention has been drawn to messages circulating on social media berating the current government for not clearing pension indebtedness once and for all. "We also note the direct threat issued on Governor Ademola Adeleke, a man who was carrying a burden he did not inflict on us by all accounts. "As much as we know how hard the economic situation is, we must not become ingrate who are eager to bite the fingers that fed us. "We must not suddenly become a group of people who forgot yesterday and are now showing bitterness to a man who rescued the pension community from pang of death and pain. We must be careful not to play into the hands of the same people who created life threatening pain for us in the first place. "For us in the progressive camp, we denounce any attempt to take the pensioners body including the Contributory pensioners Into the APC. "That was the party that killed and maimed us by withholding our hard earned fund and gratuities. We curse any pensioners or group leaders who are meeting APC secretly to drag us into perdition again. "What manner of people will be threatening somebody who is helping us with a vow to go back to the group who imposed the problems in the first place ? We found the write up in circulation as the handiwork of agents of APC within the pensioners’ community. "Let us look at the line of communication in circulation to see what is really wrong. The writers who we think are not really representing the pension community said the current government must settle a bill of almost 75 billion naira before the end of 2024. Is that not a crazy demand to make? Are pensioners the only group in the state? Are there no other groups who need attention? Is the government going to stop attending to demands of the health, youth, education and other sectors? "Under 18 months, the current government paid almost N13 billion naira on the pension debt. Under 12 years , APC paid N11.7 billion . Yet, the so-called pension leaders are threatening to go back to APC . Where is the logic here? "As progressive members of the pensioners’ community , we also find it absurd the claim that federal money is flowing in so much so the government should clear all pension debt. How much is flowing in and what is the money meant for? "Our pension group leaders are repeating APC words and sentences without any proof? If project intervention money enters a state , can you use it for pension payment? If Osun Care money enters the state, it should not be used for roads, health and education projects it was designed for? Is that not criminal diversion? "Our union leaders are parroting the statements of APC. This is what worries us in the progressive camp. Are some union leaders now agents of the APC? Or why are they threatening the current government over re-election ? Are they saying we pensioners should go back to APC? "Is it a sensible option to dump a man pulling you out of a deep well for a man who actually threw you into that well? Why are we acting as though APC agents overpaid us? "We need to be careful. If we have demands to table before the government,we should follow the usual channel that has helped us in the past. We should stop issuing baseless threats. "On this note, we as progressive union of pensioners affirm as follows : That we reject any attempt to lure us into APC ; That we commend Ademola Adeleke for keeping faith with us pensioners; That we condemn adoption of APC propaganda by some pensioners union leaders; That we urge fellow pensioners to reject underground reach out by agents of APC; That we know the state government is going to pay up pension debt. That we must not blackmail a kind Governor who is doing his best for the state; That we must accept that the administration has several issues to attend to for which we are just one; That we must adopt negotiation , not threat or blackmail to press home our requests; That we must ensure reasonable requests, not APC agenda designed to discredit the state government."

Not so long ago, I projected into the character of Adebayo Adedeji, and the simple truth about him is that he is someone given to plain untruth, always twisting facts to drive his narrow political objective. In my article, "Osun debt profile and APC's busted lies", I pointed out his lack of understanding of accounting and budgeting documents, which in the light of his recent misrepresentation of facts, is worse than I had observed. Let's start with the question on the local debt profile that Adedeji raised. By his hypothesis, Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration took fresh local loans in the 2023 fiscal year, throwing all sorts of numbers to force his faulty argument on the public. To start with, it is an unintelligent lie for Adedeji or anyone to accuse the Adeleke administration of keeping the true debt profile of the state a top secret especially when the information is regularly captured by the Debt Management Office and even the State's Financial Statement documents. Now, to the issue of debt or otherwise, it is not surprising that Adedeji, in his usual characteristics, choose to twist the record to mislead the public. For instance, the supposed debt was the NG-CARES facility routed through the federal government by the World Bank to all states in the country for the COVID-19 impact reduction projects. As Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State recently clarified, the fund is a Programme for Results "because States had to use their fund in advance to the programme" and get reimbursed by the World Bank after verification through the Federal Government. This was what happened with the N2,930,645,475.46 recorded as the NG-CARES receipt for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in the 2023 fiscal year, which Adedeji mischievously presented as a fresh loan. Interestingly, his principal, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, accessed a similar facility in the 2022 fiscal year to the tune of N705,650,000.00. The same thing with the receipt by the Ministry of Rural Development and Community Affairs and the Ministry of Youths and Sports. It is important to note that this fund preceeded the Adeleke administration, and so, utter balderdash to say Governor Adeleke increased the state's debt binge. In fact, the records, including the one relied on by Adedeji for his false narrative, showed clearly that the Adeleke administration had reduced Osun state's level of indebtedness. For example, salary bailout debt in 2022 stood at N22.058bn, and by 2023, it dropped to N21.646bn while Restructured Commercial Loan was N75.459bn in 2022 but came down to N73.935bn in 2023. Also, the Federal Government Intervention Fund component of Osun's local debt came down to N18.443bn in 2023 from the N19.543bn it was in 2022. There is one interesting fact about the Federal Government Intervention Fund that many people may not know. The debt that didn't exist until 2021 when N2.8bn was accessed jumped up over N17bn to N19.543bn in 2022 under the Oyetola-led administration. This is yet a burst to the long-propagated lies by those who served in the past administration that Oyetola didn't borrow while he was Governor of Osun state. From the DMO's record, which is under Adedeji's party-controlled central government, Osun's debt profile, be it local or external debt, has seen a significant reduction under Governor Adeleke. By December 31, 2022, only a few days after Governor Adeleke assumed office, the DMO put the state's domestic debt was N148bn. A year after, precisely December 31, 2023, the debt value has shed about N4bn, as it stood at N144bn. By March 31, 2024, the DMO recorded a local debt profile of N87bn for Osun state, indicating that the state had cut its debt by N57bn. This unimaginable feat was captured by one of the leading online newspapers in Nigeria, TheCable, in a June 21, 2024, publication. According to the newspaper, Osun reduced its domestic debt standing by 40 percent by the end of the first quarter of 2024, puncturing the erroneous postulation of elements like Adedeji and his co-travellers whose sole intent is misinformation. And to the issue of welfare raised by Adedeji, it is disturbing to note the fierce struggle with the truth that is inherent in his hypothesis. Available data showed that the Adeleke administration has been up-and-coming in the welfare of the people, particularly workers and pensioners. For emphasis, the Adeleke administration released the sum of N12,719,245,528.00 as bond to pensioners in 18 months, whereas his two predecessors, including Adedeji's principal, Oyetola, could only release N11,150,871,889.00 in bond. In terms of gratuities, the Adeleke administration has paid over N4.3bn in barely two years in office. But that was not all. Governor Adeleke enrolled the entire pensioners in the state on healthcare coverage and took up the significant burden of the cost of managing their health. It is interesting to note that Osun was the first state, if not the only state in the whole of Nigeria to have such a broad healthcare plan for people who gave the better part of their lives in the service of the state. Lest I forget, Governor Adeleke has ensured the payment of half salary owed by the APC administration, putting an end to years of wait for their entitlements. While contributory pensioners who are yet to receive their bond have received no less than 15-month, those who had gotten their bonds have received at least six months out of owed half-salary. For active workers, the scenario is not any different as their owed entitlements which the Oyetola administration couldn't attend to, are receiving the necessary attention from Governor Adeleke. Let's start with the financial benefits of the promotion given to them by the Oyetola administration in 2019 but could only be implemented by Governor Adeleke. This is also the case with half-salary, which had seemed impossible under the Oyetola administration, however, no fewer than six-month have been paid under Adeleke so far. Talk of wage award for workers and pensioners, and you will find that Osun is one of the 15 states in Nigeria that implemented that welfare programme. It therefore does not make sense for anyone to entertain the wrong notion that the Adeleke administration has not been forthcoming with the welfare of the people. By all measures, Governor Adeleke has been judicious in the use of resources at his disposal as evident in the laudable infrastructural renewal and welfare packages that are visible to all and can be felt by the direct beneficiaries, unlike the audio interventions that defined the past. I think Adedeji should focus more on telling and by effect, showing the Osun people what his principal used the over N400bn accumulated revenue to do because as the public can tell, the only thing that was pronounced was complaints and nothing more. By now, Adedeji should know that, although, he may try very hard to distort the facts, but as a former American President, John Adams, cautioned "are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence." • Sarafa Ibrahim is a Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor. The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations has rated Governor Ademola Adeleke and eight other Governors excellently in its just released reputation performance Index on Nigerian Political Governance 2024. The rating scored Governor Adeleke 83.6% to be included among top 9 Nigerian Governors demonstrating exceptional leadership and performance in state governance. The rating body, the NIPR, is a renowned organization dedicated to promoting excellence in public relations and reputation management with a strong commitment to research and analysis. The rating details indicated that Governor Adeleke secured the high ratings because of his visionary and tremendous strides in transforming the state since assuming office through implementation of various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, and youth development. The NIPR said its Reputation Performance Index on Nigerian Political Governance 2024, was a result of a thorough evaluation of governors' performance across various sectors, including infrastructure development, economic growth, education, healthcare, and social welfare. NIPR's Reputation Performance Index is a reliable benchmark for assessing the performance of public officials in Nigeria. The ranking is based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative data, including surveys, interviews, and analysis of publicly available information. Receiving the news today, Governor Adeleke pledged to sustain activities needed to further deliver democratic dividends and good governance in Osun State. According to the Governor, in a statement signed by his spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed, “the excellent rating I just heard is a call to put in more efforts in leadership and performance delivery across the sectors. “ We thank the NIPR for its professionalism and nonpartisan review of state administration. We will not rest until we achieve a 100 percent rating from the 83+ we had today. “ My team will review the governance delivery system and attend to areas needing adjustment. I look forward to an interaction with the NIPR leadership on the 2024 report”, Governor Adeleke noted.

By Sarafa Ibrahim Emotion, a well celebrated Chinese actor, Bruce Lee, warned "could be the enemy" and that "If you give into your emotion, you lose yourself." This was what quickly crossed my mind when I noticed the latest attempt by elements in the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to sowing a sense of doubt on the performance of the incumbent Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, by attacking his successful billionaire brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke. This started with Mr. Ismail Omipidan, the Spokesperson to a former Governor in the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and of recent, Misbahudeen Aonullah Ibrahim, which echoed a calculated political blackmail scheme. Well, this is not something new with the APC as anyone conversant with the party's style can very well understand this as yet a broader pattern to manipulate thoughts for political capital. As I have been able to point out in the series of my previous articles, the Osun APC is notorious in presenting its perverse views on governance as the reality and strive so hard to force it on the public. This was exactly what Messrs Omipidan and Misbahudeen tried to do with their articles, which revolves around a conclusion Adeleke has done badly as Governor. But that is not what the reality says especially when indices of government is put into perspective. When Governor Adeleke took over in November 2022, he inherited a struggling state, hurting badly from several years of misgovernance. Over 30–month half salary of active workers and pensioners are unpaid, five months cooperative deductions debt, and the sight of infrastructural decadence was a host of the challenges Governor Adeleke inherited. Nearly two years in the saddle, Governor Adeleke is fixing many of this challenges. It is interesting to note that while Oyetola who happens to be Mr. Omipidan's principal, find it impossible to pay just one month out of the 30-month half salary in the 48-month of his administration, Governor has paid six-month for active workers and pensioners who have received pension benefits or bond while pensioners yet to receive bond have gotten 15-month half salary payment. Within the same period, Governor Adeleke has cleared the owed cooperative deductions by his predecessor. Only jokers will dismiss this as nothing. But that isn't all Governor Adeleke has done in terms of welfare. Between November 2022 and now, Governor Adeleke led government has released the sum of N12,719,245,528.00 as bonds to pensioners in the state less than two years in office whereas his two predecessor, including Oyetola that Omipidan and Misbahudeen is apparently trying to sell, were only able to release N11,150,871,889.00 within a period of twelve years in office. Yes, you heard me right, Governor Adeleke did better than the combined two administration before him, and this is less than two years in office. To cap it all, Governor Adeleke enrolled the entire retirees in the state on a healthcare coverage plan, shouldering almost the entire cost of keeping them healthy at old age. Away from this is the laudable infrastructural renewal manifest across the state. The interesting thing is that even those who had before now feign unaware are acknowledging it, although, as Mr. Omipidan tried to do, play it down with wrong assessment. The mistake I think Mr. Omipidan and most of those on his side did was failed to point out the technical flaws in any of the ongoing infrastructural project. If there is anything, they only echoed what we have all known about them, and that is the fact that they are just bitter. It is not a secret that Oyetola failed grossly in the governance of Osun, and seeing Adeleke, who many of them had predicted was incapable, is achieving many of the things they thought was impossible. The excuse of paucity of fund is too cheap because the financial books of the state clearly indicated that the Oyetola administration had expense in excess of N400bn in the four years that his administration lasted. This was at a time that a dollar averaged N460 and inflation isn't as bad as it is currently. In spite of the current economic situation and the challenges posed, Governor Adeleke has been making remarkable impacts for the people of the state. Take, for instance, the effort by the Adeleke administration to reposition health and education in the state. Public schools' in the were wholly renovated and equipped to enhance qualitative learning while a total of 345 primary healthcare centres across the state is receiving much needed infrastructure upgrade, which included 24-7 power supply and water system, to deliver better healthcare for the people. Yet, the Adeleke administration did not receive a $20.5 World Bank grant like the Oyetola administration did for the rehabilitation of PHCs. By all indications, Governor Adeleke has done exceedingly well in the administration of Osun state. If people like Messrs Omipidan and Misbahudeen are still living in denial, it will not be out of place to remind them that the promotion benefit that seemed problematic to Oyetola for over three-year was resolved by Governor Adeleke less than six months in office. Not only did Governor Adeleke implemented the payment of the financial consequences of the promotion Oyetola did in 2019, he has granted a fresh fresh promotion and already implementing the financial benefits. More, it is important to stress that Osun is one of the 15 states in Nigeria that implemented wage award payments. One can easily assume that a Oyetola as Governor may find it hard to pay considering how he failed to pay the financial benefits of the promotion he granted to workers. This now takes me to the unfounded claim by Mr. Misbahudeen on dismissal of health workers by Governor Adeleke. While I understand his desperation to impress his new friends, however, the big mistake was thinking Osun people can be so unreasonable to see through the fallacy of his claim. It is nearly two years that the APC has regurgitated the lies yet, it has not been able to show just one letter of the purportedly sacked. Osun people know well what happened and only those with distorted idea of history will try to paint an entirely different picture. Governor Adeleke cannot sack people who are not already in the public service. It is even sickening to note that Mr. Misbahudeen is trying to draw political capital from the unfortunate passing of Dr. Richard Adeoriokin. Well, he's in APC now! It is this same mischievous intent that he showed towards the issue of O'Meal scheme. Had it been Mr. Misbahudeen is given to objectivity, he would by now have realized that O'Meal is a federal government scheme under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. It is a public knowledge that the scheme, just as many others under the Ministry, was suspended to give way for an audit following a scandal last year and nothing has been heard about it till this moment. It is interesting to note that only Osun state still maintain the scheme as a result of Governor Adeleke interest. This fact was established a few weeks ago by representatives from Abuja and foreign partners during a seminar held at Aenon Suite in Osogbo. The most funniest thing about Mr. Misbahudeen was his wrong notion on funding for agriculture under Governor Adeleke. In one of my article, "Osun and the horrible side of a revisionist", I pointed out the disturbing neglect that the agriculture sector experienced under the previous APC administration, which Governor Adeleke is doing everything to upturn. For instance, the total provision for agricultural sector in the 2022 budget under Oyetola was N6.7bn, however, by the time the budget performance for the second quarter was out, only a meagre N593,296,747.59 had been released, representing a disappointing 8.8% budget performance. Interestingly, the Governor's office incurred a total expenditure of N3.01bn out of a budget of of N5.3bn, representing a 56.8% budget performance under the same period in review. It was even worse with the 2020 budget where out of N83,863,650.00 voted for the agricultural sector aside salary payment, only a meagre N6,992,500.00 was released by the end of third quarter. In the 2021 fiscal year, out of N3,313,734,560.00 provision for agriculture and food security, the actual release was N334,699,600.00, representing 13.14% performance by the third quarter. As outlined before now, Governor Adeleke is taking up series of initiatives, which include tractorization, to boost agriculture activities in the state. If the APC administration had not mismanaged the dozens of tractors inherited from the APC administration nor blew away billions on agriculture without any tangible outcome, Osun will not be faced with the mountain of challenges that Governor Adeleke is navigating in the agriculture sector. Not only is Governor Adeleke working to solve immediate food needs of the people, he is also thinking about the future, hence, the plan to distribute cash crops seedlings, including cocoa to farmers and create the path to endless opportunities for tomorrow. In all, Governor Adeleke has shown capacity, not excuses as we all witnessed with his predecessor. He is using the collective wealth of the people to build not just infrastructures but also implementing a broader welfare package that address past failings and bolster hopes of the future. By the way, Erin-Osun-Egbedi-Iwo road has been delivered and more other notable infrastructural projects that not only links communities but expand economic opportunities will be delivered in weeks to come. Antagonists can update their dairies or else, they will be lost forever. ▪︎ Sarafa Ibrahim is a Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Print Media and writes from Osogbo

By Mallam Olawale Rasheed Intellectual pursuit and excellence are traditionally built on empirical facts. When facts are deliberately twisted to achieve partisan goals, the public, the citizenry, immediately identifies intellectual deceit and a prelude to a likely jaundiced academic thesis. Applied to the public space and as facts are sacred, governance analysis from dispassionate analysts, uninjured commentators and unemotional observers convinced Dr Deji Adeleke, the patriarch of the Adeleke dynasty, that his brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is delivering to his expectations and that of the voting public. That same view is held by many Nigerians. A reading of some articles including one by a journalist, Ismail Omipidan raises the imperative of fact checks. I will first submit that the writer's justification for calling out Dr Deji Adeleke is flawed and based on false citations as all the four points raised are based on equally false narratives promoted by the opposition. And I will dissect the issues one by one. First is the Akoda-Ede road which he claimed was awarded prior to the commencement of the multi-billion naira infra programme. We repeat with verifiable facts that this assertion is false. The Akoda road was only undergoing pothole patching under the 100 days programme before its inclusion in the infra programme. It must be stressed that the road was advertised in a Nigerian Tribune publication of August 2023, which clearly fault the jaundice postulation of Mr. Omipidan. As for timing of project completion, the infra plan was unveiled in December, completion date is December 2024. And as for quality of work, the contractor has the next five months to complete its work. Hence any judgment on work quality is mere political propaganda, especially when it is coming from someone with no background in engineering to be able to make a technical assessment. The writer and the opposition may want to know that Oke fia, Lameco and other infra projects are going ahead as planned under strict monitoring and evaluation and with the best of quality assurance. Equally, a debunked lie now repeated with sugar coat is the allegation that the Governor budgeted Fifteen Billion Naira for his office and only three billion naira for the agriculture sector with only One Hundred and Eighty Million Naira disbursement. The public is fully aware that the Governor’s Office has several agencies including the service-wide general services office. Hence, the said fund is not in any way meant directly for Mr Governor. Even at that, the total allocation for that unit is less than half of what purveyors of lies are dishing out Relatedly, the agricultural sector is receiving full attention than the opposition would want to acknowledge. Under the administration that the writer served, agriculture received the most embarrassing funding, to the point that less than N10m was spent in the entire sector outside payment of salary in one fiscal year. Under the Adeleke administration, tractorization, access to fertilizers, agropreneurs' Incubation programmes, food security sub-sectoral initiatives, revival of farm settlements, cashew and cocoa seedlings project among others are special programmes the administration is implementing within the agricultural sector. It is a lie that only N180 million has so far been released to the agricultural sector. For the teachers' recruitment and Imole Youth Corps, this administration is a government with a focus on programme sustainability and seamless delivery. With minimum wage matters being sorted out and with all budgetary questions resolved, the administration is fully ready for implementation. Governance is a process, a fact known to even the unlettered. Another disgraceful lie is allegations of delay in sharing palliatives from the Federal Government. The first phase of the rice palliative was handled by a non-governmental committee and the second phase was shared across various interest groups alongside those rice equally purchased by the state government. In fact, the writer's party received from the palliatives disbursement by the Adeleke administration and we dare him to fault this assertion with fact. For the Two Billion Naira palliative, it was clearly pointed out that it was deployed on additional food items, transport sector, wage awards with the state government adding further funding. The total cost of the wage award expended by this government was Three Billion naira at Ten Thousand Naira for pensioners and Fifteen Thousand Naira for workers for six months, far above what was received from the Federal Government. If the writer has forgotten, Osun people still remember how palliatives were hoarded under Oyetola administration and the public had to publicly loot the warehouse. Governor Adeleke has no such records and the public can attest to it. Having clearly proven that all the reasons adduced by the writer for his calling out Dr Deji Adeleke are baseless, unfounded and mere concortions, let me proceed to list why the Pacific Holdings Chairman is proud of his brother, Governor Adeleke. First is the rescuing of Osun workers from bad governance, neglect and wicked wielding of state powers. From November 2022 till date, Governor Adeleke has embarked on a public sector reforms which ensure re-professionalisation of the public service, regular promotion and cash backing of promotions, payment of pensions and pension bonds, ongoing payment of half salaries owed Osun workers among many others. For restoring normalcy and humane treatment to the public service as applauded by the public servants and their unions. It is not only Dr Deji Adeleke that is proud of his brother but the entire Osun people minus the toxic opposition appreciate the state leadership. Another reason has to do with the silent revolution within the Osun health sector. As of today, close to 100 primary health care centers have been rehabilitated with direct provision of water and solar light. Across the state, over 150 health care centres are being built with many already completed. Selected General Hospitals are slated for upgrade while general recruitment of health workers is in the pipeline. Over 29,000 pensioners have been enrolled for free health insurance. The Governor is prioritizing preventive health care policy by strengthening access to health care for the majority of Osun residents. As Governor, Adeleke did not squander the World Bank $20.5 million dollar health care rehabilitation initiative as witnessed under the previous APC government, Dr Deji and Osun people are happy and praised God that "Demola ko ba oju wa je". Who will not be happy with a responsive government and Governor who attended to neglected areas? The Muslim community in Osun has no Hajj camp, the only state without one in the South West. Governor Adeleke is building one for them. Osun State Broadcasting Service was left to die. Governor Adeleke procured state of the art transmitters for the stations. University of Ilesa was an audio institution when Mr Governor Adeleke took over. He gave the institution a take off grant, got almost 40 programmes accredited and ordered ongoing reconstruction of the university internal roads. Ijesa leaders were elated. Several abandoned projects within the Osun State University were completed with new ones added. The Vice-Chancellor inherited from the Oyetola government attested to Governor Adeleke's excellent service delivery. A Governor who initiated and is implementing a multi-sectoral, multi-billion naira infra plan is the doyen of friends and foes. Luckily, no true expert will deny the close link between good infrastructure and economic development. Seamless connectivity is at the heart of economic buoyancy. In recognition of that fact, Osun has been transformed into a huge construction site with all parts of the state tasting the delivery of good governance. In reality, the Adeleke dynasty has every reason to thank God and the Osun people because an 18 month record has surpassed the four year tenure of some people. The public knows the leader who failed at home and shockingly away, I mean at national level. For Dr Deji Adedeji and the entire Adeleke family, Mr Governor is a symbol of pride. The public are aware of when someone messed up his uncle due to dismal performance as a state Governor. Even the uncle at Ajegunle on a campaign trail noted the bad show. When a review of members of the Federal Executive Council was done, bad ratings were returned to the public space. The uncle cannot but be unimpressed. For Governor Adeleke, his approval rating remains above 80 percent. Someone throughout his four year tenure, has less than 30 percent approval rating. Even President Bola Tinubu loves Imole. Billionaire father of a billionaire, Dr Deji Adedeji is proud of his brother, Governor Adeleke, for achieving such significant delivery within just 18 months. So at the convocation, the Chancellor for the Adeleke University will speak of audacity of hope, of a vision that is becoming a reality, of an aspiration of a new Osun piloted by his brother. ● Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke, writes from Osogbo.

'Viral Video of Sen. Lere Oyewunmi On 2023 Election Was Blown Out Of Proportion By Disgruntled Elements In Opposition" Our attention has been drawn to a viral video of Sen.Lere Oyewunmi, the lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the National Assemby, who also doubles as the Deputy Minority Leader at the Red Chamber, where he was addressing some of his followers at his hometown in Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area of the State. In the viral video, which some political jobbers in the opposition in Osun State, in cahoots with some section of media had twisted to suit their parochial tendencies; Senator Oyewunmi was simply narrating the gang up against his ambition in a particular voting area around the town, and alluded to the fact that all his efforts to convince the people of the area to support him was futile. His notion of 'Mobilization' during the polls, which he expressed in Yoruba was mischievously translated by the media as Vote-buying, purposely to paint the lawmaker black in the eyes of the public. We want to explicitly put it on record that what Senator Lere Oyewunmi meant connotatively was 'Funds for Mobilization ' and never mentioned anything close to buying of vote. Without mincing words, Senator Lere Oyewunmi is a revered personality with impeccable pedigree, a consumate politician with high level of intellect, it would be therefore, illogical for a sagacious politician of that standing to involve in such infraction and still come out in public to say it; such thinking by anyone defies logic. It is obvious that the lawmaker was addressing a gathering of locals with little or no formal education to understand the tenets of "Funds for Mobilization " hence, the option of that pattern of expression in Yoruba Language. We, thereby, warn redundant politicians in the State and their co-travellers in the media to desist from such cheap propaganda, as Senator Lere Oyewunmi by ideology and orientation will never act in variance with rule of law and democratic ethos. It was a recognition that not only echoes the reality of the infrastructural uplift that Osun state has seen under GovernorAdemola Adeleke to the local population, but also the national audience. Vanguard newspaper, a leading national newspaper, conferred the Personality Of The Year Award– Infrastructure on Governor Adeleke. The Eko Hotel, which hosted the event was filled to the brim, and conveyed the import of the recognition more better. No fewer than four Nigerian Governors, including the host Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu won different categories of award on the night I personally dubbed as #NightOfHonour. Business tycoons and accomplished entrepreneurs, like the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Onyema picked up awards too. Sure, those who have chosen to sell a wrong impression about Osun under Governor Adeleke would be disappointed. But fact, as English writer and philosopher, Aldous Huxley opined about two centuries ago, "... do not cease to exist because they are ignored." The fact about Governor Adeleke monumental strides in infrastructure was the attraction for Vanguard Newspaper in considering him for the award. And you do not have to take my word for it, just take a moment to listen to one of the country’s leading newspaper on why it settled for Governor Adeleke as its Personality Of The Year on Infrastructure. At a visit to convey the award letter to Governor Adeleke in Osogbo, Mr. Jide Ajani who led the top management of Vanguard Newspaper said the interest of the medium was triggered by a viral video of the open commendation of the Governor's infrastructural upgrade at the Osun State University by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Clement Odunayo, and upon an independent assessment, it "discovered what the Vice Chancellor said the video was a tip of the iceberg." He went on to note that "Osun is indeed a huge construction site. You (Governor Adeleke) have continued to complete abandoned projects. You have completed many inherited projects from your predecessors. We have your records on roads, bridges, water, school and health centre upgrades among others. We read your multi-billion naira infrastructure plan and its ongoing implementation. You did not play politics with the development of your state." Looking at Osun and the pace of infrastructural renewal happening, one will have no reason than to go with the assessment of Vanguard Newspaper because it was apt. Since coming to office in November 2022, Governor Adeleke has prioritized changing the face of Osun's infrastructure in a bold drive for industrialization and improving the quality of lives of residents. And just as Vanguard Newspaper noted, Governor Adeleke is not playing politics with the development of the Osun people. This is why, unlike his predecessor, Governor Adeleke is not abandoning inherited projects because doing so will only hurt the people. Within his first 100 days in office, Governor Adeleke mobilised contractor to complete the 10.5km Osogbo-Ikirun dual carriage road, hence, bringing to an end the years of pain suffered by road users. Only recently, a former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, commissioned a VIP lodge in the Government House, which was left to rot by the previous administration but completed by Governor Adeleke. And as we speak, the construction of the final phase of the Osogbo circular road, popularly known as Ona-Baba-Ona started by the administration of Rauf Aregbesola is ongoing as we speak. Just like those before it, the road will soon be open add to the list of the state's road network and benefit citizens. In-between all these, Governor Adeleke is also constructing new roads to address the mountain of road infrastructure deficit met on ground. Within his first year in office, Governor Adeleke constructed about 90km of roads in Osun, and unlike the experience in the past, it was spread across the nine federal constituencies that made up the state. In October last year, Governor Adeleke unveiled an ambitious multi-billion infrastructure plan, which not only answers the infrastructural needs of today, but also cater for the infrastructure of tomorrow. Overhead bridges, dual carriage roads, among other road projects are ongoing in Osun as we speak. This is in addition to the 58.5km stretch of road, ensuring that at least a 1.5km road is constructed in each of the local governments in the state. And it is not just roads that is getting the attention of Governor Adeleke as public schools and primary healthcare centres infrastructures across the state are receiving major upgrade. In his first year in office, Governor Adeleke undertook a total overhauling of 31 public schools in Osun state and equipping them with furniture and other essentials to improve the learning environment. The second phase of the infrastructural renewal in the education sector is ongoing at the moment as efforts by the Adeleke administration to reposition education in Osun intensifies. The same physical transformation is happening in the state's health sector as a total of 346 PHCs are undergoing major rehabilitation to enhance output to the public. He's also investing in upgrading water infrastructures to make clean and drinkable water available to the people. So, it was not surprising to see Vanguard Newspaper recognised Governor Adeleke alongside other distinguished Nigerians in various spheres of life with an award. What the national newspaper did was to affirm what is obvious to all about Governor Adeleke's infrastructural strides in Osun state, except for those who have chosen politics at the expense of reality. To cap it all, Governor Adeleke is not just building infrastructures but also investing on the welfare of the people. From the time he assumed office and now, Governor Adeleke has taken pragmatic steps in defraying inherited salary debt and implemented the payment of the financial implication of promotion received by civil servants under the previous government. In terms of pensioners welfare, Governor Adeleke has expended nearly N28 billion in payment of inherited pension liabilities and for the first time in Nigeria, enrolled the entire retirees in Osun state on a healthcare coverage. In short, Governor Adeleke is doing excellently well in the governance of Osun state and this is what the Vanguard Newspaper echoed. And mind you, there is no sign he is stopping and Osun is definitely moving forward. ● Sarafa Ibrahim is the Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor and writes from Lagos, Nigeria. Regulatory Commission Must Wakeup From Slumber To Rescue EKEDC FROM The Shackles Of Dere Otubu By ADAPHAIOur organisation, a leading Civil Society group in Nigeria with mandate for peace advocacy and propagation of non-violent culture is using this medium to call on relevant authorities, especially the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission as well as security agencies to quickly come to the aid of Eko Electricity Distribution Company and salvage the company from the manacles of its Chairman, Mr Dere Otubu, who have been leading a gang of dissidents in the company for selfish purposes. Putting the record straight, Mr Otubu has been aiding and abetting fraudulent activities in the company to the tune of billions of naira through the use of ghost workers for the past three years as well as masterminding payment of salaries to exited staff coupled with several cases of misappropriation of funds and corporate theft, which compelled a whistle blower to raise alarm of this monumental fraud. Unfortunately, the whistle blower, who was a staff of the company was threatened and intimidated, forcing him to run out of the country with his family. Mr Otubu was behind the campaign of calumny against the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr. Tinuade Sanda, who have proven herself to be an upright leader and a reformer, by exposing the issue of ghost workers in the company after thorough and painstaking investigations. Another heinous act committed by Otubu is deliberate misrepresentation of the directives of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, where he gave a false information to the effect of removing Mrs Sanda and singlehandedly replaced her with his crony and collaborator, Mrs Rekhiat Momoh without the approval of the board. It is very disheartening that in the desperate bid to continuing perpetrating his infraction and shenanigans in Eko Electricity Distribution Company, in utter connivance with certain members of Staff, the Chairman, Mr Otubu, deliberately manipulated the directives of Nigerian Electricity Distribution Company, and dangerously lied that Dr. Sanda, the Managing Director of the company who exposed the 36-month fraud should be removed. More grevious of these illegalities as perpetrated by Otubu and revealed to our organization by one of the union members in the course of our investigation is that some of the recalled staff of EKEDC, who were supposedly recalled with Dr Sanda and who are cronies of the Chairman are still running the operations of the company, these exited staff are being used to process payments. It was reliably gathered from impeccable source that signatories to the company accounts are signing out funds from the operational account. We further deduced that the Director/Chairman Legal &Regulatory Committee of the company, Mr Babor Egeregu, alongside other members of the board had severally cautioned Otubu on his recklessness and illegality, especially his desperate bid to provide cover for an embattled Chief Legal Officer of the company, Wola Joseph Condotti, who was recalled by her employer 'West Power &Gas Ltd, to pave way for thorough investigation after being accused of several infractions, but who Otubu asked to disregard the directive of her employer. That Mr Otubu remains an instrument of discord in Eko Electricity Distribution Company is an understatement, he has embarked on aggressive campaign of calumny and cheap blackmail against the Managing Director, to the extent of accusing the upright and performing woman of falsifying her academic qualifications, all in the bid of getting her pound of flesh for exposing financial crime orchestrated by Otubu's gang in the company. It is clearly verifiable that Dr. Tinuade Sanda has a resounding educational background. As a matter of fact, she has displayed uncommon brilliance at her undergraduate at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, by coming out with Second Class Upper Division in the Department of Management Accounting, a feat very rare to achieve by a lady in such prestigious Ivory Tower. Without mincing words, Tinu Sanda's further qualifications up till PhD level have been verifiable and authenticated in those reputable institutions she attended; so, calling a dog a bad name for the purpose of hanging it out of vengeance by Otubu and his co-travellers is completely out of place and criminal. As it stands, Mr Dere Otubu has massacred corporate governance in Eko Electricity Distribution Company, and continues to drag the flourishing disco to the state of inertia at the peril of its shareholders, investors and thousands of staff, unless something is done fast to save the company. Comprehensive interactions with the staff of the company regrettably indicate serious resentment against Otubu's style of leadership and pattern of administration, most especially the seeming injustice and connivance, which have seriously and adversely affected the morale of these disenchanted staff and resultantly reduced their productivity and commitment. We, therefore, call on the appropriate Regulatory Commission in the Electricity industry to wake up from their slumber and checkmate Otubu's excesses before it is too late by removing him Immediately from that exalted position, as he lacks capacity, leadership acumen and requisite integrity to chair a sensitive organization of that size. In the same vein, we are profoundly disappointed in the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the agency of government that represents the 40 per cent of the Federal Government's shares in EKEDC for its failure to live up to its statutory obligations and clear laxity in fulfilling its duty of representing Federal Government's interest. It is utterly unbelievable that this agency of government can pretend as if all is well and dangerously keep mute when an individual is turning disco of that significance and prospects to a 'Banana Republic ' with utmost impunity. Unmasking Lies; Exposing Smear Campaign Against Dr. Tinuade Sanda In her evaluation and submission on quality leadership and administrative skills, the former Prime Minister of Philippines, Gloria Aroyo, posited that:"The greatest test of a leader is ability to be at the fore-front leading with vision; at the middle inspiring with passion; and at the back defending with courage". The above submission of the "Iron Lady" of Philippines, undoubtedly defines Dr. Tinuade Sanda, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC). Transforming the Eko Electricity Distribution Company with vision and inspiring productivity and quality delivery with passion, Dr. Sanda has also defended the integrity and sanctity of the company with courage; although, with huge price of character assassination and smear campaign. Since she came into the saddle in 2022, the woman of high moral values and energy has taken EKEDC to an enviable heights, which automatically elicited profound applause from critical stakeholders across Nigeria, including the Federal Government and various reputable organisations such as VANGUARD and AFRISAFE among others. Driven by excellence and aggressive consciousness for speedy growth, she has orchestrated a remarkable increase in monthly collections, reaching an impressive 17.1 billion Naira. Her strategic reforms, including the reduction of ATC AND C to 1%, have not only curbed electricity leakages but also boosted operational efficiency for EKEDC. However, despite these successes, Dr. Sanda has been the target of dangerous attacks and criticisms from certain divisive elements within EKEDC, aimed at tarnishing her reputation and diverting attention from her laudable achievements, especially the humongous fraud she uncovered about ghost workers and payment of salaries to exited staff, which she reported accordingly. The latest attacks on her personality is the satanic and unfounded claims about her qualifications, which practically defies logic and common sense; it is nothing but blantant lies of unimaginable magnitude, compelling one to doubt the sanity of the paddlers. Puttung the record straight, Dr. Sanda's educational background is incontrovertible and impressive, with degrees from renowned institutions across the world. She completed her undergraduate studies in Accounting with second class upper honours at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. Subsequently, she pursued her MBA in Strategy at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and received certifications from Harvard Business School, Executive Education in “Finance in Senior Executives” in 2015 and “Management Essentials” in 2023. Furthermore, the contradictory assertion that Dr. Sanda studied at Harvard Business School while her certificate explicitly indicates Harvard Business School, Executive Education, exposes mischief of highest order, it reveals a deliberate and desperate attempt to smear her reputation by her traducers. These peddlers of falsehood against Dr. Tinuade Sanda know quite well the difference between Harvard Business School, Executive Education, which offers professional development programs, and Harvard Business School, a renowned academic institution where Postgraduate degrees are conferred, since a simple email or website verification with these institutions would confirm the veracity of her academic achievements. Additionally, her graduation photographs, highlighting these accomplishments are conspiciously displayed on her page @Tinuade_Sanda on Instagram, dating back to the times when she acquired these degrees, providing further credence and refuting any claims suggesting otherwise. Dr. Tinuade Sanda’s PhD was conferred in 2020 by the University of Management Science and Technology, Republic of Benin, before the concerns regarding accreditation by the National Universities Commission emerged in 2023, an issue faced by some other international institutions including Volta University College, Volta region Ghana, Columbus University, UK, among others. With Dr. Sanda receiving her doctorate in 2020, two years before her appointment as Managing Director in 2022, it is evident that her academic qualifications were attained independently of her professional advancement. It is also imperative to know that a Ph.D. was not a prerequisite for her MD position, rendering any speculation about the desperation for a Ph.D. totally senseless. The timeline clearly demonstrates that her academic achievements were obtained legitimately and independently of her career advancements. These facts show the lack of credibility and decisively counters any unfounded allegations regarding the authenticity of her certificates. Furthermore, Dr. Tinuade, a Fellow of ICAN, one of the most prestigious institutions in her field, is the President of the Old Students Association of Accounting, class of 2001 of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, demonstrating her strong affiliation and connection to her alma mater. Her career is well-documented, including her tenure at organizations such as, Chartered Bank that later merged with Stanbic IBTC and Access Bank, prior to joining WPG and being seconded to EKEDC. Each of these firms conducted thorough investigations before appointing her at various times. To this end, the less cognitive and illogical narratives of fifth columnists, who are hell bent to defame the towering antecedents and pedigree of Dr. Tinuade Sanda because of her conviction to be open, just and transparent have clearly failed, as the Managing Director of Eko Electricity Distribution Company remains resolute and standing tall against every shenanigan of bunch of criminals within. Obviously, these cowardly acts of cyberbullying and personal attacks, orchestrated to distract the general public from her sterling achievements have been unmasked and exposed, it must now be condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians and stakeholders in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). Dr. Tinuade’s dedication to EKEDC is unwavering, unprecedented and exceptional; her leadership style encompasses integrity, transparency and accountability as organisational standards, while she is being guided by principles of equity and probity as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company. We, therefore, celebrate an amazon of inestimable value, a pride of womanhood and an exemplary figure for the girl-child, Dr. Tinuade Sanda, as she continues to bring her transformative power of ethical leadership to bear in the management of men and resources at EKEDC, for the benefit and good of all Nigerians. CSO faults FIJ's reports on Ibrahim Egungbohun Dende, says it's campaign of calumny A leading Non-Governmental Organization, Advocacy for Advancement of Peace &Harmony in Africa Initiative (ADAPHAI) has faulted the reports published by Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) alleging a community leader and Peace Advocate, Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, also know as IBD Dende of smuggling. The National Coordinator of the organisation, Comrade Sulaimon Suberu in a press briefing in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Friday said the personality of IBD Dende is far from such nefarious activities as alleged by the medium arguing that aside being a legitimate businessman, Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun is Peace Advocate of repute in Yewa Land and Ogun State in general . According to ADAPHAI, Chief Egungbohun had carved a niche for himself in the several interventions aimed at entrenching sanity in the boarder areas around the axis. The group, therefore, called on security agencies and the office of the NSA to quickly look into the issue and appropriately sanction peddlers of fake news in that regard. "Our organisation, a leading Civil Society Organization in Africa, with mandate for peace advocacy and non-violent culture is compelled to activate a fact-finding mechanism to ascertain certain narratives in a section of the media about the personality of a Peace Advocate and Community Leader in Ogun State, Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, popularly known as IBD Dende, across the State. "It is on record that our organisation, in the course of several interventions on peace advocacy in the border communities along Yewa South and Yewa North of Ogun State got to know Chief Egungbohun through Community engagement and social mobilization among the local populace in the axis. "By our experience and records of engagement for many years, we found Chief Egungbohun, alias IBD Dende to be an harbinger of culture and the rich tradition of his people with rare sense of patriotism who does his legitimate business as a Border Community Stakeholder and Licensed Freight Clearing and Forwarder with utmost integrity. "Chief Egungbohun by our discreet investigation had worked closely with the highest echelon of Nigerian Customs and the Presidency to entrench sanity at the border areas of Ogun State and in the battle against smuggling and other nefarious activities at the border. "As a revered Community Leader, the proud title holder of Oluomo of Yewaland remains a rallying point for his people for economic empowerment and youth engagement towards peaceful co-existence and harmony in the axis. "Chief IBD Dende is a member of 20-member Peace-Building Committee on Herder-Farmer Conflicts appointed by Gov Dapo Abiodun to find a lasting solution to the incessant clashes between farmers in the agrarian communities of Yewaland and marauding herders. "Meanwhile, contrary to the report published by Fisayo Soyonbo of Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) which practically predicated on vague evidence of questionable sources that were out of contest, we make bold to say that Chief IBD Dende was never arrested for Gun running neither had he ever supported such nefarious activities in his entire existence. "We challenge Fisayo Soyombo and FIJ to prove the allegation of gun running. It’s illogical to say that Nigeria Customs who he alleged that released Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun and refused to disclose his offence should be the one to try him. We appeal to Fisayo Soyombo to tell Nigerians the evidence of his arrest, and the identities of the guns after all, arms are serially numbered. How should it be so difficult for Fisayo and FIJ to unravel such riddles he shunned out as findings? We are interested, we want evidence. After all, on two occasions we gathered that Chief Egungbohun intervened to retrieve arms seized by Agbekoyas from security agencies at Egguea and Ota in Ogun State. This is verifiable. "Also, the allegation that Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun connived with certain security agents to smuggle guns into the country six months to the general election, and recently smuggled motorcycles popularly known as Okada in the local parlance and Tramadol consignments for terrorists were blantant lies. . We demand of Fisayo and FIJ to substantiate the allegation by publishing his traceable evidence, be it photograph of the trucks linkable to IBD Dende during uploading/offloading or recipients who were terrorists as alleged to substantiate that the motorcycles and tramadol were delivered by IBD Dende or Customs. "The worst of the lies, as we have confirmed through our findings, told by FIJ and Fisayo Soyombo was that Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun smuggled three 2024 Toyota land cruisers and four white coaster buses into the country recently, which according to Fisayo was executed with the “express say-so of Hussein Ejigbunu”. We are again challenge both Fisayo Soyombo and FIJ to come clean on this riddles; Nigerians want to know the final destination of the seven vehicles. Afterall, he said the vehicles were taken to Lagos. Where in Lagos, to whom? FIJ and Fisayo should spare Nigerians from agony of false alarm", ADAPHAI said. The organisation, therefore, called on Fisayo Soyombo, the publisher of FIJ to come up with logical evidence to substantiate his claim, adding that in the absence of such evidence, the allegation remains absolutely unfounded and mere fiction. It continued: "Unless Fisayo comes out with tangible evidence, we have no option than to believe that his works were fabricated lies by its proponents to smear Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun’s (IBD Dende) personality for political and pecuniary gains. "To this end, we want to sound this stern warning as a way of maintaining law and order in the public space that nobody have any rights to call fellow Nigerians defamatory names like notorious smuggler, sponsor of terrorists, gun runner etc without authority of a competent court of law. Fisayo Soyombo and FIJ could have forgotten the particular item of the law but we are disappointed in his lawyer who supposed to know better to caution him. He ought to have been trained to know how to differentiate between opinion and findings. Fisayo Soyombo and FIJ erred by calling Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun a “notorious smuggler, sponsor of terrorists and gun runner” for any reasons whatsoever. "We, therefore, call on security agencies, especially the Department of State Services and the office of the National Security Adviser to quickly wade in and do a thorough investigation to ascertain the truth of the matter and appropriately sanction peddlers of false information and cheap propaganda "On a final note, we solidarise with Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, alias IBD Dende, on this and urge him to maintain his peace as always and as a community leader and Peace Advocate of high repute". https://citymirrornews.com/news/2024/12/cso-faults-fijs-reports-on-ibrahim-egungbohun-dende-says-its-campaign-of-calumn

Bringing OSCOHEALTH to higher prosperity: Dr. L.O. Raheem's significant contribution to medical sciences The provost of Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, Dr. L.O. Raheem, is commemorating one year since going into office. He led the college's operations for a full year with dignity, energy, and distinction. This meticulous man with outstanding managerial and administrative abilities held sway over the college, which was founded 47 years ago. Before becoming a fully fledged independent college under the Osun State House of Assembly (Establishment) Law of 2020, the citadel of learning reportedly operated as a school for forty-three years. The memories of the provost's courageous actions and efforts to turn around the college's woes, twelve months after Dr. L.O. Raheem's appointment, continue to captivate those who doubted his ability and pique our curiosity. It came as no surprise to those who knew him. They think a man who overcame educational obstacles to become a medical laboratory scientist at the top of his field ought to be able to lead the college to prosperity. He demonstrated to everyone that he meant business with a few decisions he made on his first day of office. In this sense, he redistributed offices and developed a new organogram that is tightly enforced. Without a doubt, L.O. Raheem is a small man with big dreams. Following his ascent to the position of provost, his subsequent deeds demonstrated his insatiable hunger and quest for advancement. His mission—to renovate and reorganize the college—is what motivates him. That would work well on a Sunday; there would have been signals on Saturday. I had the great pleasure and honor of meeting the renowned and award-winning medical laboratory scientist who has devoted most of his life to the medical sciences a few days after he was named provost. He gave me a kind welcome and treated my entourage with dignity and composure. That's what people do when they are new to power, a familiar voice said to me as I traveled to the realm of surprises. I was broken because I am aware of the addictive nature of power. But I was comforted by Mitchele, the first black American president Barack Obama's wife, who said that true character is shown through power. I have closely monitored Dr. L.O. Raheem's attendance at both formal and informal events. He has certainly done incredibly well. He shouldn't be expected to win over everyone as a reformer, but even his detractors—particularly the people he has positively impacted—agree that he has been an excellent administrator. Raheem is an extremely disciplined administrator who abhors complacency, impunity, and a thoughtless demeanor. You have to be prepared to be strict if you want to have a positive influence. Despite his rigorous nature, Raheem is incredibly understanding. He is open to new ideas that will advance the college's grandeur and prosperity. In order to record his performance, I made the decision to go to the college on his one-year anniversary. Throughout my tour, I spoke with staff members and reached out to students. Since I just know him as a person, I think these should be the best indicators of his leadership qualities. I saw that there is now a drainage system as soon as I walked inside the campus. The lack of a drainage system at the college prevents water from flowing freely, which has an indirect impact on the road network, as I mentioned to a friend two years ago. Though he dismissed my thoughts by asserting that the college administration would never have taken such action, he still agreed with me. With that, we cut the conversation off. The fact that I could see a working drainage system allowing water to flow freely as soon as I entered the school is a welcome sight. Additionally, I noticed that the college has strategically placed working solar lights. The campus is now lit by Raheem, signaling an end to the ongoing darkness. He refurbished the staff and student departmental blocks that were already in place. I assumed the college's grounded Coaster bus had been sold when I arrived at the school garage and did not see it. When I noticed that the vehicle carrying pupils into the school was full of them, I was astounded. Raheem completed more than just tangible tasks. He was also devoted to the advancement of humanity. He is aware of the importance of security and how it relates to advancement and expansion. In order to supplement the efforts of the college security staff, he hired Amotekun. As instructed by the House of Assembly, he increased the 60-year service requirement for college employees to 65 years of service. In an effort to foster communication, he established academic and non-academic staff unions. Being a forward-thinking and tech-savvy administrator, he discontinued the college's long-standing practice and instituted the CBT Examination for new admission. Among the divisions he assisted in becoming accredited were the Dental Therapy, Community Health, Environmental Health, Health Information, and Dental Surgery Technology departments. By Kalejaiye Ajala Governor Ademola Adeleke is an exceptional man, and this is partly because of how he confounds traducers. This was something I immediately noticed when I read a piece titled "Oluwole Oke: 2026 Guber and Disentangling the Political Turmoil In Osun" by one Josiah Ige, cleverly couched to sell a wrong narrative about Governor Adeleke and the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. I burst into a wild laughter after reading the piece because it showed that those opposed to Governor Adeleke, who most certainly commissioned the write up, learnt nothing from the past as they struggle to persuade themselves of the watery projection of division in the Osun PDP and poor performance against the Governor. Why is Wole Oke using proxy to challenge a surely very popular leader? If he is man enough, let him come out and challenge Mr Governor. He cannot do that because he knows that will be his final political waterloo. If he is attacking to secure and blackmail for another return ticket to the House, he is playing a failed game. His people and the party will decide his fate, not blackmail. The atmosphere in the Osun PDP, when Governor Adeleke joined party stalwarts at the last stakeholders' meeting in Osogbo, punctured the insinuation of a divided support for the governorship ticket as propounded by Josiah Ige. The party unanimously endorsed the Governor for a second term. Also, two out of the four founding fathers of the party in Osun embraced Governor Adeleke at the meeting while the remaining two who were unavoidably absent communicated reasons in writing to the party leadership. Sure, people do have aspirations. And I don't see the basis for the unnecessarily sensation that the writer tried to stir with the purported questionable aspiration. The mistake of the writer and his boss is a false sense of grandeur for a lawmaker known for his waywardness and unreliability with the people and the party. In the build up to the 2022 governorship election, there was something beyond rumours, which Josiah Ige, is trying to make an issue about contesting the PDP ticket with Governor Adeleke, as Oke announced his aspiration for the party's ticket then. In the end, it was known to be a decoy to bargain for house tickets. Same blackmail strategy cannot work this time around. Eric Arthur Blair, popularly known as George Orwell, drew our consciousness to the feature of a political language. The renowned English author and journalist notes that "Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." And to be kind to Orwell, he got it right, especially when you consider Josiah Oke’s proxy assessment of Governor Adeleke's performance in office. Whenever I hear or read about anything that questions the performance of the Governor, I realize the potency of the disease that blinds people to reality. Because nothing can explain the open denial of what is clearly visible to all, and acknowledged by many who have seen the positive impacts of the Adeleke administration within a short period. Contrary to Josiah Ige or Wole Oke’s assessment, Governor Adeleke has been remarkable in turning the hopeless situation he inherited to a scenario that offers hope for the future. A typical instance is the payment of the owed half salary by the previous administration and implementing the financial implication of promotion given to civil servants by Gboyega Oyetola, former governor in the state, in 2019. Until Governor Adeleke came to office, workers have lost hope of getting financial benefits of promotion given to them just as they did with the owed half salary. Within a year, Governor Adeleke paid four months out of the 30 months half salary owed by the previous administration. This was something his predecessor declared as impossible and demonstrated this by not attempting just one month throughout his 48 months in office. Less than 18 months in office, Governor Adeleke has expended more than N25 billion on the payment of gratuities and pension arrears. In yet an unprecedented event, the Governor enrolled the entire retirees in the state on a comprehensive healthcare plan, relieving them of the burden of managing their health at old age. Governor Adeleke is the first Governor in the whole of Nigeria to implement something like this for senior citizens. In terms of infrastructure, Governor Adeleke has done so much within a short time to the chagrin of his doubters. No fewer than 90 kilometers of road projects across the state have been embarked upon by Governor Adeleke, and unlike the experience in the past, it spread across the federal constituencies in Osun state. Abandoned road projects, such as the Osogbo-Ikirun dual carriage road has come to life as 10.5km of the portion had been delivered and already in use while efforts are ongoing to complete the stretch to the Kwara boundary. Ona Baba Ona is yet an abandoned road project, but which Governor Adeleke administration has taken up and will be delivered to Osun people in a matter of weeks. In October 2023, Governor Adeleke unveiled an ambitious infrastructure plan, which will transform Osun in terms of infrastructure and improve the situation of the people. The good thing with this infrastructure plan is that it cuts across sectors, promising major road projects including five flyovers, rehabilitation of schools and PHCs, improved access to water through sinking of motorized boreholes in each of the 332 political wards and a host of others. In this plan, at least 1.5km of road will be constructed in each of the 30 local governments and the area office, something that wasn't experienced under his predecessor. Work has started on some of these projects, particularly the Old Garage-Lameco dual-carriage road project. In his short-term measure to meet the health needs of the people, Governor Adeleke introduced Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach, which has so far benefitted nothing less than 50,000 across the state for various health challenges including operations. A few weeks ago, Osun took delivery of digital transmitters and other equipment necessary to revive broadcast media outfits in Iwo, Ife and Osogbo under the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC). So, the opinion that Governor Adeleke is not performing in office is at best, jaundice, because the manifestations of the remarkable success that Governor Adeleke has recorded as Governor is too glaring for anyone to reach the warp conclusion inherent in Josiah Ige piece. This wrong notion definitely guided the wrong assumption of questions on utilization of federal accruals. I think the rush to sell wrong narratives about Governor Adeleke failed the Oke camp. For a start, Osun did not receive N150 billion as allocation in 2023 not to talk of the 'over' Josiah Ige erroneously quoted in his article. Just as I had said in a previous article, FAAC allocation distribution is public information, and it is unwise for anyone to subject it to propaganda as we just observed. Osun received less than N150 billion last year, and what a significant part of the receipt was spent on is clear to all, including those who choose to live in denial, out of political considerations. Roads, renovation of schools, pension liabilities, salaries, borehole projects, and many others were the beneficiaries of receipts for Osun from federal sources last year. And one thing, which I think those in the business of selling wrong narrative about Osun and Governor Adeleke is that, he had at several occasions informed the people of the creation of a separate account for projects, where unutilized funds are remitted to fund critical projects for the state. He explained this to journalists when they sought to know where funds for the multi-billion infrastructure plan will come from since the state will not borrow for it. Haba! Governor Adeleke is a sincere leader and this much was acknowledged by a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, when he noted that "I have told people that this is the most sincere governor, Osun ever has" at a recent visit by Ilesa Grammar School Old Students Association. And as for the conjecture about Yeyeluwa Modupeola Sanni-Adeleke, which Josiah Ige, extensively explored in his failed attempt to misrepresent Governor Adeleke, it is best to leave him to the fancy of his beer parlor gossip, which is in no way the same with reality. Osun people voted Governor Adeleke and he's very much in charge of the government of the people as against the wild and unreasonable theory entertained by cheap politicians. Wole Oke should know that he is committing the worst political mistakes of his life by these unwarranted attacks on Mrs Adeleke -Sanni and highly respected Dr Deji Adeleke. He needs to learn from political history to know that the Adeleke family always plays straight , hence the family’s victory in most political battles. What sin has the family committed to warrant false attacks and accusations? Is it a sin to support one’s brother? Is it not a pride when a member of your family is doing well as Governor Adeleke is widely judged to be doing ? What does Wole Oke stand to gain by dragging in the mud names of respected global business icon, Dr Deji Adeleke? If One continues on this path, there is no doubt that we will face him squarely especially as our Governor is performing. Governor Adeleke is making Osun people proud and his family happy that he is justifying the confidence reposed in him. The Governor is busy with the job of meeting the needs of the people and won't be distracted, no matter how sly Oke and his few co-travellers are. ●Kaleaiye of Imole +4 Movement send this piece from Ilesa

By Great Oluwaseun The major opposition party in Osun State, All Progressive Congress (APC) may have experienced a major setback in their pursuit to reach a consensus on who represents the party in the 2026 gubernatorial election. After the state sensitization tour carried out by Sooko Tajudeen Lawal-led Working Committee, the true report of this tour reflects a more serious crisis which could tear the Ilerioluwa faction into 2 more factions in the party as many of Oyetola's loyalists have withdrawn their support for him. The recent remarks from Lawal about the sensitization tour show that he is not ready to learn from his predecessor's (Famodun) mistake. Rather than telling Oyetola the truth, Lawal is determined to push Oyetola into more political pits with his advice. Ilerioluwa's factional reconciliation tour shows that things are not even fine with Oyetola and it could result in a more serious crisis than the TOP's own. One of the factions is also from Aregbesola's Senatorial District, which shows that the APC might have no relevance in that axis in the coming election if Lawal does not embrace the reality. The fight for the 2026 APC gubernatorial ticket in APC took another turn from Oyetola, and Adeoti struggled with other bigwigs coming into the picture. The looming APC crisis is threatening to be more serious than the TOP/Ilerioluwa faction conflict. As of today, 4 candidates, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy who happened to be the last holder of the ticket, Mr Gboyega Oyetola; The National Secretary of APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru; A former deputy governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore and lastly the SSG to Aregbesola's government, Mr Moshood Adeoti are known to have started advancement to clinch the party ticket in the 2026 governorship election. With 3 out of the 4 names from the Ilerioluwa faction and only Adeoti from the TOP faction. Omisore this time is not ready to let his chance slip away, knowing fully well that 2026 is his last chance to become the governor of Osun State. He is determined to strike when the time comes as he is currently focused on showing loyalty to Asiwaju and his Lagos people. The recent interest of Basiru and Omisore in the ticket is the main reason why Oyetola has suddenly become the lover of his party and has made him the new bride in the sight of the State Working Committee. However, things might have gone beyond what he could manage on his own. Speaking anonymously, an ally close to Oyetola said "Oyetola that seen the odds of things going against him and he has been running from his Senatorial kinsman, Basiru, who is also interested in the ticket to form an alliance, having seen that it's only Central that has 2 interested aspirants while West and East has 1 each. To him holding meetings with some factions of LG chairmen to revalidate their position to his side. When asked about Basiru's position in clinching the ticket, one of his aides(who prefers to stay anonymous) said, "Alubarika la fe ni l'osun." Another close ally of Basiru disclosed that "among the 4 aspirants, Basiru is the youngest amongst them, and he still has chances to contest about 3-5 more elections so I will advise him if he consults me to leave the race and stay focused on his National assignment 2030 will be very strong for Osogbo Agenda to fly." On the other hand, the party members from the East Senatorial District are very disappointed and surprised about the unfair treatment they have received from APC, Oyetola, and Lawal. One of them said, "Oyetola is such an ingrate. He knows how to run to us when he needed votes for his inconclusive election, but now he has neglected us and even taken away the only thing (National Secretary)we have and gave it to his Campaign Chairman, Basiru." Femi, another grieving member, stated that "all the appointments that Oyetola brings to Osun, he never thought to give anyone to someone from the East. Oyetola can only enter his house. He can't even defeat me in an election." Speaking to one of Omisore's close followers, Moji(not her real name, she said, "Oyetola's heart of betrayal is second to none. There was an arrangement in Abuja that Otunba Iyiola Omisore would be compensated with the gubernatorial ticket if he resigned the National Secretary without issue, but we are surprised that this same man has started advocating for his 2nd term as the governor, it's still a rumour and hope it stays as that. He should focus on his new assignment, Omisore is too relevant in politics for him to want to sacrifice his long-term ambition for a serial betrayal like Oyetola." While talking, another person added "With the zoning of appointments, Osun East is the only district feeling cheated in the party and should be compensated with the ticket and it's Omisore that we want not any other person. 2026 is Otunba's last chance to achieve his dream, and we can't allow anyone or anything to jettison his ambition. The Distinguished (SRJ) can wait till 2030, we, his followers, will not accept such." Going by the countenance of the people from the East, they are hellbent on the next party candidate to come from their side. Looking at the unfair fate that Aregbesola suffered at the hands of Oyetola and his advisers. And fears that Omisore, who is another politician from that axis, might suffer the same fate. While carrying out our findings about this looming crisis, all efforts to know the true position of Omisore and Basiru's position on the matter were diplomatically avoided as one of them's contact persons said "It will be difficult to tell you my Oga's position but I can tell you my boss is busy with the party assignment given to him and strongly believes there is time for him to contest so let the old people be given their last chance so by 2030 the ticket will be easy for SRJ to get." Omisore's contact person said, "Otunba is just waiting to unleash his strategy within the party. He believes only a fool will start politicking now. 2025/early 2026 is when the true calculation begins." On these accounts, the force of the looming APC crisis is coming from the East Senatorial District with another person, Omisore, championing this new one. It has started like a cold war between Oyetola and Omisore as both of them have not been seen together lately. It can be said that the crisis in Osun APC is far from ending, and the looming crisis is looking more serious and could further create factions out of the Ilerioluwa faction which might eventually kill the party in the state. From a survey done for APC members, about 85% of them prefer Basiru or Omisore, while only 15% want Oyetola. They all disregard the candidacy of Adeoti, claiming he is no longer a member of their party. So Lawal's claim about their readiness to take power is nothing but a fallacy as the party primary could send the party into forever extinction.

By Yusuf Oluwadamilare A celebrated media expert, Andrew-Knox B. Kaniki made a stunning discovery about the weight of guilt. The Zambian national observed that "it's always the guilty that have itchy bowels after chewing the truth." And he was damn right, especially when you observe the infantile postulation of the Osun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to request of the Osun State Government for public assets in the possession of its members who served in the previous administration. Apparently caught up with the reality of its members brazen abuse of office, the APC is pushing around a list of people around the Adeleke administration in the desperation to cover up the cornering of common patrimony of the people. In essence, the Osun APC is no longer denying the fact that its members unlawfully possessed public assets, its argument now is rather that those in the Adeleke administration did the same thing. In the rush for this dangerous narrative, the APC made a big blunder and that was to rely more on lies and beer parlour gossip, rather than facts. And it is so unfortunate. I've reviewed the list of names supplied by the APC and all I could do was laugh. In the attempt to justify the brazen dispossession of public properties, the Osun APC is pushing a lame and ridiculous notion of some other people too did it and ended up with all sorts of cheap fallacious claims, which not only insult the intelligence of Osun people, but also a sad reflection of the reckless disposition of the APC to question of accountability. Take, for instance, the malicious claim against Ede-born billionaire, Dr. Deji Adeleke. It is a shame that the APC took this route of using pure lies as a justification for the theft of public properties because available records showed that Dr. Adeleke did not enjoy any of the favour attributed to him from former Governor Rauf Aregbesola. Aside from the fact that Adeleke University is a model in philanthropy as more than half of students in the school are on full scholarship, he pays everything that is due to the State Government. It is unimaginable that the APC will subject such a man who has made so many contributions to both human capital development and the economy of the state to campaign of falsehood. But I cannot blame them, because the only thing they know to do is steal and not build. The Osun APC is parasitic in nature and more than ever, Osun people have a better understanding of this disturbing reality. But that is not all. The claim by the APC that some officials in the Adeleke administration, particularly the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, and the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, went away with official vehicles is not founded on fact. The SSG had debunked this claim before now, pointing out "that the official vehicles for which the then council bosses pay part payment were taken from them immediately the court ruled against former Governor Oyinlola." Instead of the APC controverting this assertion with irrefutable evidence, it chooses to peddle lies in order to distract attention from his abuse of public assets just because of having access to office. On a number of media platforms, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, has made clarification on the vehicle in his possession, dismissing the lies of the APC. The APC must come out of its illusion that cooking up lies to attack people in the Adeleke administration will discourage it from retrieving public assets stolen by officials of the previous administration. The retrieval process is going ahead and the APC can save itself from the attendant mess by willfully returning the public assets in its possession. We can all see what President Bola Tinubu is doing to sanitize the country, and will definitely back the Governor Ademola Adeleke effort to do the same in Osun. No matter the wolf cry of the APC in Osun, President Tinubu will stand on the side of Osun people in restoring what belongs to them, which is what Governor Adeleke administration is pursuing. • Yusuf Oluwadamilare writes from Ede, Osun state.

By Comrade Dankano Abdulahi Few weeks after the nation was gripped with the merciless beating of the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, a repeat of such dishonorable action was witnessed today at Osogbo this Wednesday. Judicial workers protesting withholding of their allowances and abuse of power by the Chief Judge of Osun state were tear gassed and beating up by the police even when they were rightly picketing the High Court in line with labour laws and regulations. This dastardly act sent shockwaves through Osun society. Why should police beat up workers for picketing and demanding for their rights? Why should the police take side between the workers and the Chief Judge? What could warrant the police preventing workers from exercising their legal rights? If the Police claim to be enforcing the order of an Ibadan court, the question is whether that order nullifies the rights of workers to protest? Does the order stop workers from demanding from the National Judicial Council immediate investigation into weighty allegations of abuse of power, diversion of state funds and high handedness leveled against the Chief Judge? Does the court order include tear gassing lawful assembly as in workers picketing in pursuance of their rights? By brutalizing the labour leaders, the Osun state police command is enmeshed in a shameful conduct that is not in the best interest of the service. The police cannot and must not act in a way that portrays it as a political tool to be used against the workers. Its conduct and actions today cast doubt on the mission and agenda of the new police leadership in Osun state. A new police commissioner was just posted to Osun state. From records, he is said to be a good man, a clean professional. But it is discomforting that from day one of his posting , members of APC in Osun state have been boasting that he was posted to serve their interest and agenda of making Osun state ungovernable. In fact, one APC man was quoted as saying Mr Ajibola Bashiru actually influenced the posting of the new police chief to Osun state. Those are however mere insinuations to be ignored. Nobody believes those rumours and innuendo. But events today at the High Court raised deep concerns. Is the new Police Chief aware of this condemnable violations of workers' rights? Is he in the know of the brutality metted on the workers by his men? Or did he indeed approve such operations after recent embarrassment from the Imo incident? It is still believable that all the rumours about the new CP are wrong. It cannot be right. His antecedent does not reflect such unprofessional conduct. Whatever the truth may be , we call on the new police Chief to be aware that this is Osun state, the cradle of Yoruba race. This is a state where police or any other security chief cannot afford to be used as an agent of oppression. Osun people are simply too resilient to be subjugated. The new CP should as a matter of urgency review his strategy and modus operandi. He must prove people wrong by ensuring genuine professionalism in policing. It is not a good optic for the CP that his first outing is to tear gas workers. It is not a great record for him to be siding with a CJ accused of so many grievous offenses. Now he has plunged the state into judicial strike, paralysing the justice administration system. This is a bad start and we hope the CP will urgently redress the situation by allowing freedom of workers' activities . The police reprehensible conduct today sends negative signals. ● Comrade Dankano Abdulahi sent this piece from the headquarters of the Nigerian Labour Congress , Abuja

The deplorable condition of the road where the popular Adonis American College of Health Technology and Sciences, Esa-Oke is sited has caused hardship to commuters. Members of the Tipper Association of Nigeria, Esa-Oke branch, appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to remember the area and repair the roads. They lamented that the road had become a death trap for the motorists, adding that the kidnappers have been taking advantage of the deplorable condition of the road to perpetrate their devilish acts. Speaking, while patching the road, Mr Olayinka Oladele Asaba decried the bad state of the road, saying "the government should help us fix this road." “We’re now experiencing hardship. Mechanics who work on our vehicles tell us that the problems we’re having are not about engines but because of the bad condition of our road. Asaba wondered what the fate of students and staff who work in Adonis American College of Health Technology and Sciences would be, saying Motorcyclists who playing the road are bitterly complaining due to perpetual road accident. Fielding questions from journalists on the condition of the road, the owner of Naija Cuisines Lounge in Atlanta and Adonis College in Chicago, James Ademiju pleaded for the intervention of the governor who , he described as a listening governor. Ademiju who decried the danger posed by the condition of the road on the students, members of staff and residents of the area said he has been intervening in the patching of the road to make it motorable. "I am personally pleading for Governor Ademola Adeleke intervention as users of the road, our students and members of staff may be kidnapped or dead. "Governor Ademola Adeleke is a listening governor and as a matter of fact his laudable achievements within the short period of time second to none and we are very proud of His Excellency" Also, a resident of the ancient town of Esa-Oke, Michael Daramola said many students of Adonis American College could no longer go to the school due to the several motorcycle accidents along the road. Nasarawa's Tribunal Verdict: Group wants Appeal Court to critically evaluate dissenting judgement ...hails Justice Ibrahim Mashi A leading Civil Society Organization in Nigeria, Advocacy for Advancement of Peace & Harmony in Africa Initiative (ADAPHAI) has called on the appeal court to critically evaluate the dissenting judgement delivered by Justice Ibrahim Mashi, on the basis of its inherent fundamentals and strengths in the face of law. The group argued that the majority judgement delivered by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, on Monday, October 2nd, which faulted the victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule and subsequently declared the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner, deliberately ignored some salient objections as raised by the respondents. ADAPHA, made these known during a Press Conference addressed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sulaimon Suberu on Friday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) press centre, located in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital. It insisted that the judgement largely predicated on technicalities, adding that the dissenting judgement clearly raised certain pertinent issues that need to be painstakingly reviewed and addressed by the appellate court. The statement read in part:"While we believe in the sanctity of the judiciary and it's pivotal role as the pillar of democracy, we are however, of strong opinion that unlike States like Kaduna, Sokoto, Taraba and Ogun, with almost the same contents of petitions, the judgement in Nasarawa State did not completely and thoroughly dwell on the merit and competence of the petitions before it. "Our methodological evaluation of the tenets of the judgement revealed that it majorly predicated on technicalities, thereby jettisoning the substance of the petitions on the point of law and it's intrinsic values. "First and foremost, the absence of prior declaratory relief setting aside Governor Abdullahi Sule's election and return is indeed a remains a source of concern to us, as well as how the judgement allowed evidence without written depositions on oath by subpoenaed witnesses called by the petitioners to stay. "Other fundamental area of concern is the brutal manner in which objections to admissibility and tendering of documents as raised by respondents were ignored among other pertinent issues of law. "Having said that, we salute the courage, resilience and bias for truth, objectivity and fairness as exhibited by Justice Ibrahim Mashi, in his dissenting judgement; obviously, history will never forget him. "It is on that prism that we call on the appellate court to critically and objectively look into the logic and substance of the dissenting judgement delivered by Justice Ibrahim Mashi, as a way of upholding the unassailable principles of fairness and objectivity inherent in the judiciary, as a very revered arm of government. "In the meantime, we passionately appeal to the good people of Nasarawa State to remain calm and be law abiding, as Governor Abdullahi Sule still remains the Executive Governor of the State in the face of law. "We want to assure them that the judiciary, as the last hope of the common man will address every wrong in the Tribunal's ruling of Monday at the Appeal Court without fear of favour and with the merit of the case. "We, hereby passionately implore their Lordships at the appeal court to critically look at those fundamentals and treat it accordingly on its merit".
