Barcelona superstar Neymar has revealed his thoughts on who should have been nominated as the three finalists for the coveted Ballon d’Or award. The Brazilian icon has been nominated alongside megastars Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi for the award of world football’s best player, and it’s clear who Neymar is tipping to win the award. “I’m happy to be among the 3 finalists for Ballon d’Or. Leo will win the Ballon d’or. For me, he’s the best” Whilst the 23-year-old’s humble and honest comments are likely to endear him to football fans around the world, we suspect his latest comments surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo won’t please Real Madrid fans. The former Santos ace said that he believes Barcelona striker Luis Suarez should have been chosen ahead of the Portuguese captain. “Messi will win the Ballon d’or. He’s the number one. I think the finalists for the Ballon d’Or should’ve been Messi, Luis and me.” Neymar’s view reflects a minority of fan opinion, with some beleiveing that the former Liverpool forward should have been picked ahead of the Real Madrid star, who has had a record breaking year in 2015. The winner of the Ballon d’Or will be revealed at the prestigious FIFA Awards ceremony in January. See more @ 080football.com |

RONALDO IS LA LIGA'S THIRD ALL TIME GOAL SCORERS..GUESS WHO THE FIRST IS. Cristiano Ronaldo has clinched his place among the three all-time top scorers in the Spanish Primera Division after netting against Eibar for Real Madrid on Sunday. The Portuguese striker netted his side's second goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot during a 2-0 win over Eibar to equal fellow Merengue favourite Sanchez After wasting several promising chances, the three time ballon d'or winner scored from the penalty spot to cap a 2-0 victory for Real Madrid That strike took him onto 234 goals in the nation's top-flight, drawing level with former Madrid favourite Hugo Sanchez in the rankings. Ronaldo, however, reached the mark in 134 fewer games than the legendary Mexican forward. His penalty, moreover, took him to 48 successful La Liga spot-kicks, 11 more than anyone else in the top five European leagues since 2009/10. Zarra, with 251 goals, is the next target for Cristiano, while Lionel Messi leads the standings with 290 goals Will Ronaldo ever be able to catch up with messi? What do you think? REAL SOCIEDAD COULD NOT REPEAT HISTORY David Moyes recorded a memorable 1-0 win over the champions last season but his successor as head coach, Eusebio Sacristan, a former Barca midfielder, endured an unhappy return to Camp Nou against the league leaders. NEYMAR STRIKES AGAIN AND SCORES TWICE Neymar finished a fine team move to open the scoring on 22 minutes before another superb Luis Suarez volley made it 2-0 just before half-time, just as Sociedad had begun to threaten. Barca made it three with Neymar's second early in the second half a MESSI BACK IN ACTOIN AND SCORING MOOD ACTIVATED Messi finally got in on the act in stoppage time. Neymar skipped inside from the right and played a one-two with Suarez before squaring the ball to an unmarked Messi at the far post, and he scored BARCA LEADING REAL MADRID WITH NINE POINTS The victory puts more pressure on Real Madrid, with Rafael Benitez's side now nine points behind Barca ahead of their trip to Eibar on Sunday, while Sociedad remain just two points outside the bottom three. Does Real Madrid still have a chance at the La-liga championship hit us with your comments @ http://www.080football.com/barcelona-defeat-realsociedad-4-0-and-lead-real-madrid-with-nine-points/ |
ZENITH ST. PETERBURG This may come as a suprise to many because the relatively up and coming boys amongst the big guns are not as popular. The Russian side managed by former Chelsea manager-AVB are the best performing team in the 1st round of the UCL. They have played 5 games and won all leading group H with 15 points. Based on this kinda result, they may just pull a surprise shot at the UCL this season BARCELONA You don't need to be told about them following what they did to Madrid in the El classico beating them four goals to zero, the return of messi to the UCL with Barcelona leading group E with 13pts is loud enough. They are in strong contention but are they going to be the first team to win the UCL back to back in modern era? BAYERN MUNICH Is leading group F with 12 point they have played five(5) and won four(4) matches and lost only one(1) plus an impressive goal scoring stats, they look ready for any team that will come their way. REAL MADRID Inspite of the grand El Classico loss four to Barcelona , Benitez's men are not relenting in the chase. They managed a poor end to beat shakhtar donestsk 4-3 they are still the group leaders in group A and possible contenders for the UCL trophy. PSG PSG also in group A coming second behind real Madrid are on fire they beat malmo ff 5-0 on Wednesday giving them another three(3) point they have won 3 games lost 1 and drew 1 giving Madrid a run for the championship ATLETICO MADRID They twin brother of Real Madrid are pressing forward as they look desperate to win the championship even though the lost to real Madrid in the finals of 2013/14 UEFA champions league. They are definitely a team to watch. JUVENTUS Seria A defending champions are not smiling either also leading group D with 11 points they were in the finals last season which they lost to Barca. With their recent improvement from a bad start of the season and home wins over ManCity, they are set to make this chance count . CHELSEA FC We know everybody will be surprised how they made it to the list based on current performance the blues are group leaders of group G with 10 points. BENFICA This team happen to be on the same team with atletico Madrid sharing the same point as the group C leaders have won 3 games drew 1 and lost 1 and look they determined to surprise some people. WOLFSBURG This German team are not joking they are the leaders in group B they have also won three games and lost two and they look ready to make a statement this season. Which team is missing or do you think will be 2015/16 champions league ? Letz hear your comments... @ http://www.080football.com/based-on-current-ucl-form-check-out-ten-teams-that-could-win-the-champions-league/ ![]() |

Real Madrid, is unclear as to what kind of lineup Benitez will field. He could go all out aggressive in order to try and secure top spot in the group, but some tinkering, both in terms of starters and shape, could also be on the books as the lineup this past weekend was incredibly underwhelming. Players such as Mateo Kovacic and Lucas Vazquez could provide that industrious effort that's needed on the road in the Champions League setting, so perhaps one of them could find his way into the starting XI if Benitez wants to give players like Toni Kroos or Gareth Bale a sitdown instead of a start. Also important to see if Rafa will play Casemiro in his more preferred defensive XI or if he'll take a risk with a high-powered offensive XI. On an injury front, Marcelo is ruled out for a couple weeks so one of Nacho, Danilo or Dani Carvajal will look to fill in for the Brazilian's massive shoes, while Pepe will step in for Sergio Ramos as the latter's shoulder recovers. SHAKHTAR DONETSK XI: Pyatov; Shevchuk, Ordets, Rakitskiy, Azevedo; Fred, Stepanenko; Marlos, Teixeira, Taison; Gladkiy. REAL MADRID POSSIBLE XI:Navas; Danilo, Pepe, Varane, Nacho; Modric, Casemiro; Bale, Rodriguez, Ronaldo; Benzema. |
Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus have more players on Uefa's 40-man shortlist for its team of the year than the entire Premier League combined. Barcelona provide eight players, while Bayern and Juventus both have six. The Premier League contributes five players: Manchester City keeper Joe Hart, team-mates Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne, Chelsea's Eden Hazard and Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez. Real Madrid's Gareth Bale joins Hart as one of two British players on the list. Hart has been nominated alongside Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon, Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich and Ukrainian side Dnipro's Denys Boyko. The shortlist features four goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 12 midfielders and 12 strikers. Fans can vote for the team of the year on Uefa's website until 5 January. Barcelona will look to repeat the performance they delivered in the Clasico as they host Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday. Barcelona dispatched Real Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu in a ruthless display which has seen them pull six points clear of their fierce rivals in the Liga table. Barca, with 10 points from the first four games, can clinch a spot in the last 16 for the 12th season running if they earn just a point against Rudi Garcia's Roma, or if Bayer Leverkusen fail to beat BATE in Group E's other encounter. The European champions are now eight games without a defeat and have kept a clean sheet in each of their last five, and Ivan Rakitic - who returned to the team against Madrid following a calf injury - wants to sustain that form for as long as possible. "We enjoyed it a lot, not just because of our play. We had a great game," Enriqiue spoke of the win over Madrid. "There's a lot left of the season. We want to do well in every game and work to the maximum to keep doing it. "It was a very special day and we are the first ones who want to enjoy it and do it well. We look forward to creating a lot of joy." Barca were also boosted by the return of Lionel Messi from the bench against Madrid and Rakitic hopes his recovery will progress quickly now he is back in the side. "Leo is a very important player for us and hopefully he'll keep feeling better with each match," he added. Roma, who sit second in the group with just a one-point advantage on third-placed Leverkusen, come into the match following a controversial 2-2 draw with Bologna on Saturday which saw them miss out on the chance to move top of the Serie A table. Head coach Rudi Garcia was furious that the game was allowed to go ahead on a waterlogged pitch, but defender Maicon says his side should be thankful to have earned a point and has challenged his team-mates to "step up" against Barca, as a victory could send them through to the knockout phase if Leverkusen drop points. "We battled hard and tried to play our game despite the weather. The main thing is that we at least come away with a point," he told the club's official website. "Tuesday will be a different competition. We're going to have to take a step up because it's a different game in a different setting. Hopefully we can prepare for it well and produce a big performance at Barcelona." With Messi and Rakitic now back in the side, Rafinha (knee) and Douglas (foot) are Luis Enrique's only real injury concerns ahead of Tuesday's game, though Javier Mascherano is a doubt after taking a knock against Madrid and Dani Alves is one booking away from incurring a suspension. Roma, meanwhile, are without Francesco Totti, Gervinho (both thigh) and Mohamed Salah (ankle), though Daniele De Rossi could be fit to return to the squad. Following a 1-1 draw in Italy on matchday one, Roma remain the only side to have played Barca more than twice in Europe's top competition without suffering a defeat, but they have not won away from home since a 3-2 victory over Basel in November 2010 |

MESSI AND RONALDO JOINS IN THE PRAYER FOR PARIS AND SYMPATHIES WITH FAMILY WHO LOST LOVED ONCE The Clasico duo posted on social media to join the outpouring of support being shown towards victims the of Paris attacks Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo have taken to social media to offer their sympathies to the victims of Friday's attacks in Paris. French officials report that 128 people were killed and another 99 left in a critical condition following what appeared to be coordinated terrorist acts across the French capital. Four fatalities were reported outside the Stade de France, where the national team were playing an international friendly fixture against Germany. MESSI'S CONDOLENCE MESSAGE Barcelona forward Messi posted on Facebook to offer his condolences. "All our thoughts are with yesterday's victims and their families," the Argentina international wrote. , there’ll always be a bunch of bad signings no matter how successful they looke 2014/2015 season of La Liga was no different as we take a look at 10 of the worst signings in Spain. {1}ISAAC CUENCA One of La Masia’s big prospects, Cuenca has quickly slipped off the radar and the fact that Barcelona were ready to sell the 24-year-old to Deportivo permanently, says it all. Cuenca has failed to light things up for the newly promoted side and with just one goal in 27 league games, it looks like the Catalans did well with this particular deal. {2}IAGO ASPAS Aspas was actually a decent striker for Celta Vigo before his move to Liverpool tarnished his reputation greatly as he was one of the flops of last season. Sevilla still decided to take a punt at him with a loan deal as a backup striker and as one would expect, he isn’t very solid. Aside from a hat-trick in the cup against a lower division Spanish side, Aspas has managed just two league goals in 14 games. {3}GUILHERME SIQUEIRA Bought for a reported €10 million fee to replace the departing Filipe Luis, Atletico’s Siqueira hasn’t really impressed to the point that fans have forgotten about Luis. Failing to consolidate his place in the starting eleven despite playing in quite a few games have led to Cristian Ansaldi and Jesus Gamez getting games at left-back. With reports of Luis coming back to the Calderon, it only speaks further about how Siqueira didn’t exactly meet expectations. Two red cards already this season don’t bode well for the former Granada left back. {4) JOEL CAMPBELL Joining Villarreal on loan from Arsenal as part of the Gabriel deal, Campbell has seen his game time increase by a lot. However, he has failed to make any sort of impression despite being touted as a future star a few years earlier. With no goals or assists in 19 games so far, it’s only a matter of time until the Costa Rican leaves both Villarreal and Arsenal permanently. {5} DIDAC VILA Eibar’s injury prone left back on loan from Milan never impressed for the Italians or Real Betis last season. And he hasn’t impressed anyone in the Basque country either as Eibar are all but destined for relegation with Vila failing to make a real contribution. {6}FELIPE CAICEDO Caicedo has been around forever but never really found stability at one club. And it may not be Espanyol either as the forward has failed to produce somewhat consistently when it comes to goals. Eight goals in 35 games is simply not good enough from the Ecuadorian. {7} HELDER POSTIGA Deportivo needed a solid striker to stay up in La Liga after getting promoted but ended up with Portugal’s ageing Postiga. One goal in 13 games for the 32-year-old says it all as Deportivo are a candidate for relegation. {8} DOUGLAS PEREIRA DOS SANTOS One of the most shocking transfers, Barcelona signed 24-year-old Douglas from Sao Paulo as a precaution to their impending transfer ban with Dani Alves ageing. What the Catalans didn’t know is that Sao Paulo fans themselves were shocked to see him go to the Nou Camp as he is one of their most average players. Signed for €4 million plus €1.5 million in addtion, it looks like Barcelona now know why Douglas wasn’t rated whatsoever with the Brazilian only having one league appearance to his name. {9}THOMAS VERMAELEN At least Douglas was fit and could play. Barcelona shelled out £15 million for the Arsenal captain despite knowing that he would need surgery sooner or later. As it stands, the Belgian is yet to play an official game the season and may not play at all in 2014/2015 despite being fit now as there are just a few games left in the season which are crucial for the Catalans. {10} ALESSIO CERCI Signed from Torino for a fee of €20m after impressing in Serie A, Atletico’s Cerci failed to make an impression for the reigning La Liga champions. On the bench and barely given any game time, he clearly must not have done enough in training to change Diego Simon's mind Please visit www.080football.com for more |
LA-LIGA GOT EVEN HOTTER THIS WEEKEND AS THE SPANISH SIDE DO MORE GOAL SCORRING NEYMAR'S DOUBLE GOALS GIVE BARCELONA 3 POINTS AHEAD OF REAL MADRID Neymar and Luis Suarez double act left Barcelona in fine fettle ahead of the first El Clasico of the season with a 3-0 dismissal of Villarreal Sunday to top the La Liga standings. RODRIGUEZ'S LAST MINUTES GOAL COULDN'T SAVE MADRID Real Madrid on the other hand later slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Sevilla even James Rodriguez's last minute goal could not stop them to fall three points behind Barcelona BILBAO CONTINUES WITH THEIR WINNING STREAK Athletic Bilbao secured its fifth straight win in all competitions, set on its way by a wonder goal from Inaki Williams in a 3-1 victory over Espanyol ATLETICO TAKES THIRD PLACE Atletico Madrid took closer order in third place, four points adrift of Barcelona, with a 1-0 home win over Sporting Gijon. VALENCIA ALSO ON THE WINNING LIST Valencia took their place among the winning teams as they beat Celta Vigo 5 goals to 1 making the game look easy |
BARCELONA 3-0 VILLARREAL: NEYMAR HITS SECOND-HALF DOUBLE Neymar scored twice after half-time - including a spectacular third - and Luis Suarez was also on the score sheet as Barcelona recorded a comfortable home win Neymar and Luis Suarez made light of Lionel Messi's absence once again by inspiring Barcelona to a 3-0 win over Villarreal with three second-half goals. Usually the supporting cast to the Argentine in the Barca front three, Neymar and Suarez have been in irresistible form since Messi picked up a knee injury last month. And the deadly duo were at it again at Camp Nou on Sunday, scoring once each before Neymar grabbed a spectacular third to move Barcelona at least temporarily three points clear of Real Madrid. Their title rivals face Sevilla away from home on Sunday evening. Only Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid had conceded fewer league goals this season than Villarreal prior to kick-off, and Marcelino's men showed plenty of gritty defensive organisation in the first half to keep Barca at bay. But, somewhat inevitably, Neymar and Suarez came to the fore after the break, with the former breaking the deadlock after an hour with an unerring finish before the latter made sure of the points from the penalty spot nine minutes later. Neymar then capped off the convincing win with a brilliant flick and volley from a Suarez pass. The hosts finally took the lead on the hour mark and it was Neymar who made the breakthrough Barcelona are doing excellently with out the four time Balloon D'or winner Messi can they continue their winning streak without messi what do you think share your opinions please visit 080football.com for more and you can like us on Facebook @ 080football |
