TravelRe: At The NVC Processing Stage Of The U. S Family Based Preference Category. by classyclassic: 9:30am On Jan 12, 2022
Thanks. I think the reason they ask for WAEC sometimes is cos the pictures and DOB are on it unlike NECO. The few persons i gave read about were asked precisely for WAEC cert since they don't have an old GOVERNMENT ID. The dilemma i am in is i don't have any old government ID. I just want to be on the safer side and prepare ahead

Paccus:
WAEC is not compulsory , you can use Neco, Jamb or any other old ID card you have even your secondary school ID card.. if there is discrepancies in your WAEC don’t take it there

Thanks. I was of the same opinion until someone says the U.S Embassy would not recognize an affidavit. Since its just to substitute for an Old ID, which they usually ask for. So, i thought i'll share it here just incase someone knows who's been in that shoes.

Just swear an affidavit on the waec certificate based on the name and date correction just to be on a safer side. Carry other documents that bear your real name and date of birth to back up your claim.

Happy New Year Everyone

I want the house to please help shed light on my question. Pardon me please, i know this is a non immigrant section but i know there are people with vast experience in all spheres of immigration.

I am gathering all necessary document ahead for the Embassy interview after the NVC stage.

It has been a common thing for the U.S Embassy to ask for an ID 10-15 years old from interviewee and also for a WAEC certificate. I do not have a Government ID that old.

My Question: My WAEC certificate from 2002 have some mistakes in the name, the last Alphabet of my middle name was omitted, instead of Moses, Mose was written and also my day of birth, 14 was written instead of 04. WAEC says they can't make corrections on already printed certs.

If a consular should ask for that, would this discrepancies be a big deal and if an affidavit is sworn to address this mistakes, would it be recognized? Thanks
