I think the 2nd comment stated that regardless of how much you explain, most Nigerians will still see it as a spiritual attack; and look at the subsequent comments 😆. Nigeria is an illiterate society and until the illiteracy issue is resolved, it can never move forward. Happy Sunday. |
I saw someone above asking if this is marketing or de-marketing Nigeria. I have always found this constant rhetoric to be very weird. Why do we like to lie and pretend as though the country is good or moving forward? Why do we have an all round truth and acceptance problem? If the country were good the rhetoric will rarely be negative. They said the first step towards change is acceptance. Therefore, Nigerians must continue to say it as it is everywhere, domestically and internationally until our leaders receive sense. So kudos to Peter Obi for saying it as it is though I am not one of his supporters. |
It is a painful statement only because it is true. How many Nigerians are truly skilled at their craft? Be truthful. Deeply skilled? Very few. I do dynamic modeling, simulation, control, FEA, CAD for dynamic systems. I have to do all work for my business myself which I do not mind but even the few I find I still have to make numerous adjustments on their work. This does not mean there aren’t skilled people but it’s not just the way we think. As I have generally said, we are mostly hype and we can see it in the thread. Just hone your skills to perfection, don’t apply till you have and see yourself never be rejected from a job position. |
But I don’t get we Nigerians; we are so proud and pompous and braggadocios and mean especially to our fellow Nigerians. So how can people clearly not want you in their country and you remain there or even visit? Personally, I can never step even my baby toe or pinky finger into South Africa or Ghana or Dubai. South Africans in particular as they have proved are a nasty set of people but I understand their frustration though I dislike their violence. Let’s have some shame please. Get out from there. |
As we have a national comprehension problem, let me help you understand what he is trying to say. All the man is saying is just do even the barest minimum of small ordinary light for a few hours (not that they should not do better) but even at that, the leadership is still failing. And he is right. Let’s listen and read to comprehend, it’s not hard. |
It is unfortunate. However, this is what happens when you leave your nation unfixed to go to the place in which their indigenes have struggled to fix. Nigerians are hated across the globe which means there is a fundamental problem in our character. Therefore, we must all return home to fix this place via revolution and regain our respect globally. It is not to be bragging up and down with nothing to show. |
The truth is there is no pathway for the progress of this country. I always talk about Nigeria having a severe education problem even with those who went to school but we don’t like the truth. For anyone in leadership particularly within the military ranks to make the decision to reintegrate a terrorist not to talk of multiple into the community; those persons must be daft and uneducated. But it’s okay, I am no longer emotionally attached to this country. Let’s all continue being daft and mad and while we are at it, let us be fair and ensure of the release of everyone in the custody of the correctional service. |
Though individuals must make sensible decisions and it is daft to marry, not to talk of having a child or 17 for that matter when immersed in absolute poverty, government must not be absolved. Nigerians are largely uneducated and daft and that is absolutely the fault of the government, check out the schools. So, though Mr. Olayinka is right, he must shut it and bury his entire head in shame as he has been part of governments who continue to fail to prioritize education. Perhaps if they did, people can be smarter. Last I checked, the FCT is still owing teachers salaries. Let’s be guided please. |
Though I just joined Nairaland, after reading the comments, this will be my last comment and engagement on the platform. Imagine, people still deeply believing in juju in 2026, an era of artificial intelligence in which the better world has left us behind. We are headed nowhere as a nation with this sort of mentality. Honestly, best of luck to all. |
When Nigeria was and is tagged a disgrace, we get upset. Imagine another country executing the duties of the National Assembly and the Executive of another country simply because they are incapable in all ramifications. Then a nonentity will come and say we batter the image of the nation online instead of focusing on the issues. A disgrace of a nation and people. |
If I am to be honest, I dislike Nigerians. Always a victim mindset, no accountability, no responsibility in all spheres and sectors of life. Just bragging. Tyla is inarguably the best vocalist and performer in the entertainment scene in Africa right now; she deserves the award. Our entertainers sing rubbish and must simply do better if they are interested in such awards. |
I am a Nigerian man and I must say Nigerian guys generally need to do and think better. It is not the 1950’s, ladies are working, earning even more than men, funding most households; I stand on this. Of course, some will be funded by men but way more are working and earning high level pays. Let us all quickly grow up, besides, mind your business. |
Honestly, the CAC under the current leadership has failed. There are numerous issues on their portal that have restrained businesses from growth. Thanks for bringing this on here as public awareness of their failure is a first step. |
I will always say it with my chest that no Nigerian deserves to be under the custody of the correctional service regardless of their crime, so in as far as we continue to allow these dogs roam free without punishment or violence. Everyone should be freed effective immediately. The current levels of looting are inexplicable. You hear N180 billion, N430 billion, N330 billion, N90 billion. People who loot this much are not even intelligent because an intelligent person need not. Let me inform you that until we restructure which we must all press for, it will remain this way. When we restructure and we all live in and develop our local governments; I promise you, these levels of looting cannot occur because if my local government chairman tried it, I would stroll down to his office and bless him with a hot slap. Disgusting. |
I can’t tell anyone what to do, so do as you please. But I will say this, these countries you’re running to fought vehemently to get to where they are today yet Nigerians don’t want to fight for the betterment of their country. Instead, they bail and leave their country in shambles for others to fix for them and even return for visits with elevated shoulders instead of shame. How can you even want to be in a place in which you aren’t wanted? It’s wild. Imagine going to someone’s house and they say, “I don’t want you here”, yet you insist on remaining. Tackle and pressure your governors, local government chairmen and lawmakers. Write letters to them, text them. I call and send mine texts to do the right thing. Call them out, they are within your reach. Most are not intelligent, assist them in drafting sensible bills and push and fight for a restructured setting so no one is insulting you in another land. |
She has warned. Let those with ears and those who claim to have common sense hear. Again, Nigerians remain too strange a people. Read the comments. Does anyone need to tell anyone not to have children they know they cannot afford? Later, those commenters will still beg you for funds for medicine, pampers and school fees; say no. When I see children hawking, begging or constituting a nuisance to the windscreen of my car, I feel a deep sense of disgust and anger. And in a rightful and intelligent society, they should be seized by social services and their parents arrested and punished. If there are people within the national legislature and executive that view this platform, I would encourage them before it’s too late to amend the recent tax laws to include an added tax on anyone who has more than 1 or 2 children. It would assist in reducing this population of daftness since they (the leaders) have massacred the education sector. |
I have been a passerby on Nairaland for some time but I decided to register formally today to assist in my little way in rectifying the psyche of the bulk of the Nigerian population based on comments that have made me cringe uncontrollably over the years. I do not know Sowore personally but I can say that he is a patriot. I can also say that Nigerians are a deeply weird people, all of us. Imagine an unthinkable case scenario in which the victim of a rape is the defence lawyer of her rapist. Just read some of the comments. Most of the commenters defending their oppressors beg to survive on a daily basis. What I suggest going forward is that we stop helping each other until we all get serious. When someone begs you for funds, say no. Imagine giving your funds to one of them? Nonetheless, I appreciate that a lot of people are calling out that in which is wrong, well done to you. |
