Politics / Women Who Are More Powerful Than Jonathan by cleangurl: 12:56pm On Oct 27, 2013

Since inception, President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has been accused of impunity, usually caused by decisions and actions of the President, including those of his ministers and close associates.

Most of the glaring cases of abuse of power including reckless spending of taxpayers’ money have been carried out by the women in Jonathan’s cabinet. These women have proven to be more powerful than the
number one citizen of Nigeria because despite public outcries that greet some of their decisions, they go scot-free.

Those who fall in this seemingly untouchable category are the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan; the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh; and the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.

These powerful women have some things in common. They are all from the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones. Four of them had their higher education in the United States and two of them are daughters of traditional rulers. Needless to say they occupy some of the most strategic and ‘lucrative’ positions in the Federal Government.

PATIENCE JONATHAN

In Nigeria’s history, Patience Jonathan is believed to be the most powerful First Lady in terms of the amount of influence she has over her husband and his cabinet. Mrs. Jonathan first gave a glimpse into the enormous power she wields in 2011 when she traversed the country, campaigning for her husband in a way that irked many Nigerians.

Several calls by individuals and groups to the President to restrain his wife yielded no result. Also, in June this year, in apparent violation of the electoral act, Mrs. Jonathan reportedly started campaigning for her husband ahead of the 2015 elections. Another show of impunity by the President’s wife is the way she cripples any town or city she visits with her long motorcade, including bulletproof limousines and scores of armed policemen.

She grounded Lagos in 2012 when she visited to say “thank you” to some women groups for their support in electing her husband. Despite the protest by several Nigerians, who felt that their right to move freely in their country was violated by the movement of an unelected individual, the President’s wife was never cautioned, at least not publicly. Instead, the Presidency rose to her defence, giving her the liberty to do more in other cities. Her visits and grounding of traffic in Port Harcourt and Warri were also greeted with wide condemnations.

To show how powerful she is, Mrs. Jonathan publicly admitted making attempts to dictate to the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, a move that largely precipitated the ongoing political crisis in the state.

In Aso Rock, where she resides with her husband, the fear of Mrs. Jonathan is the beginning of wisdom as she leaves no one in doubt that she is in charge. There is always a retinue of favour seekers waiting to see her daily.

Mrs. Jonathan, a native of Bayelsa State, was born in Port Harcourt on October 25, 1957 and holds National Certificate of Education in Mathematics and Biology from the Rivers State College of Arts and Science, and a Bachelor of Education degree in biology and psychology from the University of Port Harcourt.

NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA

Right from when the negotiation to bring her from the World Bank started, it was obvious that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was bound to wield so much power in Jonathan’s government.

With her position as the coordinating minister for the economy (a new position created for her) and Finance Minister, Okonjo-Iweala, who is currently 83rd on Forbes’ global list of powerful women, calls the shots as far as Nigeria’s economy is concerned. While doing that, she has called the bluff of many including state governors and the National Assembly without any consequence.

The state governors, who have complained about the shabby way the minister treat them, have called for her removal while the Academic Staff Union of Universities has called her a ‘dictator.’ But no matter the protest, Okonjo-Iweala remains a darling of the President.

The sacking of Mr. Shuaib Yushau as the Head, Media and Information Unit of the National Emergency Management Agency, after he wrote what was considered a critical article against Okonjo-Iweala, further showed that the minister was not to be messed with.

The article entitled ‘Still on Okonjo-Iweala over Controversial Appointments’, published on March 6, called on the minister “to ensure that appointments into important positions should be done in credible and transparent manner that can withstand public scrutiny.”

Similarly, Mr. Lawrence Ani, was reportedly suspended indefinitely from his job as Saturday Editor of Thisday Newspaper for publishing a story that cited data that indicated a drop in Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product under Okonjo-Iweala’s watch.

In 2011, against the opinion of the majority of Nigerians, Okonjo-Iweala and the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, insisted on the removal of fuel subsidy, and literally ordered it on the outset of 2012, resulting in the Occupy Nigeria protest.

Okonjo-Iweala, who also served as finance minister and foreign minister under President Olusegun Obansanjo and as a Managing Director at the World Bank, was born on June 13, 1954 to Professor Chukuka Okonjo, who is the Obi (traditional ruler) of Ogwashi-Uku.

She graduated from Harvard University in 1977, and earned her Ph.D. in regional economic development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1981.

She is married to Ikemba Iweala from Abia State.

DIEZANI ALISON-MADUEKE

Virtually all sections of the Nigerian society have called for the resignation of the Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, all to no avail. Most of those who sought her removal had cited several allegations of corrupt practices under her watch as reasons for their demand.

After the revelation of massive fraud in the fuel subsidy administration to the tune of N1.7trn, many had thought that heads would roll, including that of Alison-Madueke, who supervised the rot. Some heads did roll, but not that of the queen of the Nigeria oil and gas industry.

Till date, the Presidency has not queried or probed Diezani over allegations against her and the indictment of departments under her by several panels, including those headed by Nuhu Ribadu, Farouk Lawan, and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede as well as the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative.

Diezani has also not explained to Nigeria, whom she was appointed to serve, what role she played in the massive corruption that led to the loss of huge amounts of public fund. Apart from the demands for the Alison-Madueke’s resignation and prosecution by civil society groups, who led the Occupy Nigeria protest, the House of Representatives also demanded her removal as minister.

Despite this, the President did not suspend her, and gave no explanation for that. This shows how powerful she is.

Alison-Madueke is the first woman to hold the position of Minister of Petroleum Resources in Nigeria, and in October 2010 she became the first woman to head a country’s delegation at the annual OPEC conference. She was also the first female Minister of Transportation, and the first woman to be appointed to the board of Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria. Alison-Madueke was born on December 6, 1960 in Port Harcourt.

She graduated from Howard University in 1992, with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture and returned to Nigeria to join Shell Petroleum Development Corporation.

About 10 years later, she earned an MBA from Cambridge University and was appointed as the first female executive director of Shell Nigeria.

In 1999, she got married to Admiral Alison Madueke (retd), one-time Chief of Naval Staff who was at different times military governor of Imo and Anambra states.

STELLA ODUAH

Not many are aware of the tremendous power of the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, in Jonathan’s government. For her role in Jonathan’s 2011 campaign, she was reportedly rewarded with a ministerial appointment to the aviation ministry, even though she had no prior training in the field of aviation.

Many believe that the President feels indebted to her for her role as the Director of Finance and Administration of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation and in the establishment of Neighbour-to-Neighbour outfit, which reportedly spent billions of naira on adverts and media propaganda in favour of Jonathan, especially while the Occupy Nigeria protest lasted.

Considering this relationship with Jonathan, it should not be a surprise that Oduah’s response to critics after the Dana and Associated Airlines crashes reeked of arrogance.

The latest revelation that she forced the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to buy her bulletproof vehicles has again elicited calls for her removal and prosecution but considering the way the President has treated public outcries against these powerful women, Oduah is likely to remain minister till the end of Jonathan’s administration. Princess Stella Oduah was born on January 5, 1962 to Igwe D.O. Oduah of Akili-Ozizor in Anambra State on January 5, 1962.

She got her Bachelor’s degree in accounting and MBA from American universities.

Oduah joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in 1983 and in 1992, she established a petroleum products marketing company, Sea Petroleum & Gas Company Limited. She was married to the former Minister for Works, Chris Ogiemwonyi.

ARUNMA OTEH

Through her battles, the Director-General of the Securities Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh, has sufficiently earned the name ‘Iron lady’ even beyond her official sphere of influence. When she clashed with the House of Representatives Committee on the Capital Market, it was the chairman of the committee, Mr. Herman Hembe, that got hurt.

The committee had accused Oteh of fraud and misappropriation of funds. She fired back, accusing Hembe of demanding bribe from SEC. The SEC board suspended Oteh in order to investigate the findings of the lawmakers, who probed the capital market and indicted her. She immediately petitioned the President and Okonjo-Iweala. After two months, the President returned Oteh to her position, following the auditor’s report that said her offence amounted only to ‘administrative lapses.’ The directors and staff of the commission, who had protested Oteh’s alleged high-handedness, were advised to calm down and obey their boss.

On the other hand, Hembe was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and also stepped down as chairman of the committee.

The crisis led to an intense battle between President Jonathan and the House of Representatives. The House demanded the sacking of Oteh but Jonathan refused.

The passage of the 2013 budget was delayed because of the fight. Eventually, the lawmakers insisted on zero budget for SEC to force the President’s hand, but he did not budge. Calls for her removal by civil society groups also fell on deaf ears. Oteh, who is an indigene of Abia State, is also a British citizen.

She graduated with first-class degree in computer sciences from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka and earned her MBA from Harvard Business School.

The negative fire of divorce blowing across the land has caught up with popular and fast-growing Gospel singer couple - Mike Abdul and Vivien Stephen Eva. Mike Abdul was formerly with Midnight Crew but went solo and even established a record label of his own. He calls it Spaghetti Records and it seems he has been busy eyeing a Spaghetti babe, another Gospel singer who is known as Monique.

As it stands now, Mike Abdul has separated from his wife, Vivien, and sources say he is hibernating with Monique, who was once married to a Naija Pop musician, Rasqie. Their marriage allegedly hit the rocks about three months ago but they have been keeping sealed lips about it in the media, only that Vivien often take to the Social Media to vent her frustration over what is going on.

Below is what Vivien, the energetic Gospel singer, wrote on her facebook page:

"A lie can travel half way around the world, while the truth is still putting on its shoes, by the time the lie is wayyyyyyyyy TIRED the truth catches UP!!! I Live, I Love, I Smile, I Hurt, I Pray, I Hope, I Believe, I Try, I Cry, I Conquer but most of all.. I am unapologetically A WOMAN."It's really sad the way marriages are packing up these days.

Entertainment / My b00bms Are The Biggest In Nollywood – Mimi by cleangurl: 5:43am On Oct 20, 2013

Mitchell Ozakpolor, fondly called Mimi is indeed busty and she feels good about it. She started acting about a decade ago. Mimi resigned from her banking job to pursue her dream in Nollywood. She said she never regretted leaving the banking world for acting. “Acting is my passion; I love it so much,” she said in this interview; she speaks about her lifestyle and the qualities of her ideal man.

What part of your body is your best asset?
I detest being asked this question because everyone already knows my best asset. Even if I mention something else, they would know I’m just being economical with the truth because it is obvious. I know I’m very busty, it is supposed to be my best asset. One good thing about me is that I really don’t flaunt my b0*bs. I just wear dresses that I like and the b0*bs flaunt, whether the neckline of my dresses are showing my cleavage or not. But my cleavage is just obvious because my b0*bs are massive. I think my b0*bs are the biggest in Nollywood.

Don’t you think Corsy Orjiakor has the that record in Nollywood?
No, but people think she is. She is not. If I pack up my b0*bs the way she packs hers, to be frank people won’t walk on the street, believe me. I try to pack mine in such a way that it won’t be obvious and so that some guys won’t jump on me and start begging me to kiss them.

Did Jim Iyke touch you there during the romance movie with him?
Before we started shooting, I pleaded with him not to touch my b00bs. He is my friend and we already had a rapport before that movie. He said he must touch it, that it was a good opportunity to do so. I knew what he could do. I started begging him and he promised he won’t do it. When we started the role, he just kissed me but he didn’t touch my b0*bs. He kept to his promises.

Celebrities / Video Club Owners Assaults And Beat Up Nollywood Veteran Actor, Jide Kosoko by cleangurl: 3:38am On Oct 20, 2013

Veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, last Friday morning, October 11th, 2013, confirmed to Nollywood Insider that he was actually assaulted and injured in the fracas involving members of the Video Rental Operators of Nigeria (VROAN) and some Yoruba movie makers and marketers. The ace thespian said, “I was injured in the debacle but I would not like to comment further on it on the telephone.”

Meanwhile the President of VROAN, Kassim Olatunbosun aka Boe, has been declared wanted by his members and the police. He is accused of wanton embezzlement of public funds at his disposal. Kassim is said to have mismanaged the royalties for marketers and film producers that his members paid into the coffers of VROAN over the last two years. They also claimed that he refused to call for elections after staying in office for more than 10 years.According to information made known to NOLLYWOOD INSIDER, after a long meeting at the Cultural Center, Alausa, Ikeja, on Thursday October 10th, 2013, by his members and other concerned stakeholders, the enraged crowd besieged his Onipanu office calling on him to render account of his stewardship as VROAN's henchman. However, on sighting the crowd while he was having his weekly meeting with executives of the association, Kassim managed to scale over a high fence into oblivion. This was after Jide Kosoko and a few others had sustained injuries during a fight to apprehend Kassim.

Jide Kosoko spoke further on the incident, “Actually, I am a member of the Board of Trustees of VROAN, and we had been getting several reports that the president of the association, Kassim aka Boe, has been in the office for close to 10 years. We have received several complaints that his tenure has since lapsed, and that there should have been an election, but he insisted on staying. This is coupled with other atrocities of his, so the BOT had to invite him, but he refused to come to any of the meetings on several occasions. He goes about with thugs with dangerous weapons, most of whom are not owners of video clubs.

''When his members wanted to make trouble with him, we said no that they should leave the matter to us, the BOT. I advised him personally, but he refused to yield to advice. He then wrote a letter saying he will hold elections in December which angered his members. The BOT then took some policemen to his office, only for us to get there and find thugs all over the place. They thereafter got violent with us, and one of them threw a bottle of water at me; using charms to threaten us.”
Meanwhile, JideKosoko disclosed that the matter is now with the Nigerian Police Zone 2, Lagos.

Nairaland / General / Prostitutes & Youths With Crazy Haircuts Arrested By Shariah Police In Kano by cleangurl: 11:56am On Oct 19, 2013

I was a little bit worried when I saw this hairstyle, as in how can a normal human being do such on his/her head. To me it's even scary!

The Public Relations Officer of the Shariah Police, Malam Yusuf Yola, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano that the defaulters had been charged to court. He said that members of the Hisbah corps also arrested deviant youths with crazy haircuts during the festivities.

Yola said that apart from those arrested for prostitution, more than 40 male and female youths were also picked up during the festive period for “misconduct’’ at places of leisure across the state.

According to him, the parents of some of those arrested were invited to the board for discussions and advice and most of the youth were later released.

“For those who had mischievous haircuts, the board made sure that they had clean haircuts before they were released.

Sports / Ethiopian Fans Go On The Rampage Attacking Nigerians In Addis Ababa by cleangurl: 7:41am On Oct 14, 2013

ETHIOPIAN football fans have gone on the rampage in Addis Ababa attacking Nigerian businesses and setting cars on fire in response to what they see as the unfair loss of their national team the Walia Antelopes to the Super Eagles.

Earlier today, the Eagles beat the Antelopes by two goals to one in the first leg of a World Cup qualifier,
which gives them the advantage in the two-legged tie. However, Ethiopian fans feel robbed by the Cameroonian referee who denied them what looked like a clear goal in the 24 minute.

Halfway through the second half, Saladin Said, Ethiopia's best player, controlled a long diagonal ball well and managed to beat Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama only to see Godfrey Oboabona clear it off the line. Video replays shows that the ball had clearly crossed the line but Cameroonian official Neant Alioum refused to give the goal.

To make matters worse for the home side, Mr Alioum awarded a 90th minute penalty against the Walia Antelopes after Ethiopian defender Hailu Aynalem needlessly dragged Emmanuel Emenike down in the penalty area. Nigeria's leading goalscorer, Emenike then got up and coolly slotted home the decisive winner.

So far, Ethiopia has had a near perfect record in the World cup qualifiers, winning all their home games and thousands of Walia Antelope fans had trooped to Addis Ababa's national stadium expecting another victory. Following the loss to the Eagles, the anger boiled over into the streets of Addis Ababa.

Nairaland / General / Facebook Blocks A Privacy Setting by cleangurl: 7:31am On Oct 13, 2013

Popular social network, Facebook is trashing a privacy feature that enables users regulate who can find them on the social network. Facebook Inc. has said that it is removing a setting that controls users’ visibility when their names are typed
in the website’s search bar.

The management of Facebook says only a single-digit percentage of the nearly 1.2 billion people on its network were using the setting. The change comes on the heels of building out its search feature, which people often use to find people they know — or want to know — on the site.

Facebook which is based in Menlo Park, California, however says users can protect their privacy by limiting the audience for each thing they post about themselves.

As of September 2012, Facebook has over one billion active users, of which 8.7% are fake. According to a May 2011 Consumer Reports survey, there are 7.5 million children under 13 with accounts and 5 million under 10, violating the site's terms of service. Facebook (as of 2012) has about 180petabytes of data a year and grows by over half a petabyte every 24 hours.

Entertainment / How ASUU Pushed Me To Project Fame Victory – Olawale Ojo by cleangurl: 9:12pm On Oct 12, 2013

Winner of MTN Project Fame season 6, Olawale Ojo in an interview tells it all on how he emerged winner against all odds during the stiff competition which had 16 other contestants battling for the top spot. Read excerpts from his interview:

If you didn’t envisage winning the competition, what was your plan when you registered to participate at the auditions?
I came up to register when ASUU was on strike, and this was my first time to participate in a music competition. I didn’t really come with too much determination, but anywhere I find myself, I always try to give my best in all I do. So, when I got into the academy, I didn’t have a choice than to give my best for everything.

So ASUU strike actually pushed you to Project Fame?
Yes, but I believe that is how God wants it to be. The strike is a blessing in disguise for me.

As a millionaire now, how do you intend to cope with your colleagues in school when the ASUU strike is over? Will there be any pressure on you?
I think the only change is that I meet a lot of people and people know me now. I wasn’t this popular, but now I am popular. I think that is just the difference. I am still Olawale. The only thing different is just that I am now popular and I have to be more conscious of my career now because I have to work more on my songs. I have to make sure I don’t disappoint my fans out there. The work has changed.

Nairaland / General / Femi Fani-kayode In Another Woman Battle: This Time With Mrs. Stella Oduah by cleangurl: 2:27pm On Oct 08, 2013

The Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah , on Tuesday berated a former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Fani-Kayode, on his utterances on the sector, asking him to bow his head in shame. She said the ex-minister’s comments on the aviation sector were capable of misleading the public.

Oduah spoke at the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization Conference organized in partnership with the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), in Abuja. The event was tagged: “Transforming ATM Performance.”

Oduah said: “When you see ignorant people in particular, I have sympathy for them. This is because when you speak out of context, when you speak under whatever influence you are under, you speak incorrectly and mislead innocent Nigerians. That is what he has done. He should hide his head in shame.”

Initially, former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode had tweeted thus:

TV/Movies / I Don’t Know If I’ll Surpass Chidinma, Iyanya –olawale, Winner MTN Project Fame by cleangurl: 7:36am On Oct 05, 2013

Olawale beat five other finalists with his performance of Asa’s song ‘Beautiful’ to get the grand prize of N5m, a brand new car and a recording contract.

He says, “The experience was awesome because we sang all through and that’s what I know how to do best. I did not really expect to win because we all had equal chances. If I did not win, I’d still be grateful to God for making me a part of the top six. Only God knows how my journey is going to be because he brought me here. So, I don’t know if I would surpass Chidinma and Iyanya.”

“I got to know about Project Fame on the television. I wanted to become a medical doctor before I got into the university where I discovered my passion for music. This is actually the first time I tried to be on the show. My friend actually advised me to give it a try as I discovered my talent when I got to the university and joined the choir,” he says.

Celebrities / I'll Date Dammy Krane Over Wizkid, Davido & Iyanya -- Chidinma by cleangurl: 3:34pm On Oct 04, 2013

In a recent interview with Hiphop World, Chininma addressed the issue of her rumoured love interests like Phyno & Dammy Krane

If you must, who would you date amongst Iyanya, Wizkid, Dammykrane and Davido.
Iyanya has the body. Davido has the money, Wizkid is the Starboy, DammyKrane is a sweet, cute guy. I’ll probably go with Dammy Krane.

What’s up with you and DammyKrane
Dammy Krane is my friend, he is everybody’s friend, and he’s funny and crazy. Before I shot the Video, I had a lot of options to play my love interest in the Video but I didn’t like any. Then someone said there was this new guy and then they played his song and I liked it. Sometime later, we were at Cool FM and I spotted him jumping about and being very playful. He was so energetic; I liked him instantly and wanted him as my loveinterest in the video. So my manager called him up, he was so nice, he came over, we talked and he told me the day we were going to shoot the Video was his birthday. Then I got scared that he might not make it. Unfortunately, on the day of the shoot, he got robbed that morning but he still made it to the shoot and then left after his part. We’ve been friends ever since

Your Lovey-dovey Picture with Phyno went viral…
It did! Less than 20 minutes after we put up the picture on Instagram, it just went crazy and we were not even in Lagos; we were in Abuja. We went for the Hennessy Artistry and we were at the airport before we went to the hotel, so we were just taking pictures then before we knew it, it was everywhere. It was kind of funny because we were just two people sitting somewhere and making the industry talk.

estranged husband's name from all her social media accounts. See more photos after the cut

But for the timely intervention of the producer of the movie shot in Owerri, a free for all fight between the controversial actress, Uche Ogbodo and costumier would have turn to brawl.

The averted fight which started with a very serious quarrel between the highly endowed actress and a costumier took to escalation when Ogbodo was offered a top-wear to complement her mini-trouser, but she reluctantly refused to wear it, saying it wouldn't give her a moderate presentation on camera.

Angered by the brazen attitude of the fair-skinned actress, most observers and eye witnesses at the movie location started murmuring with words like: “I wonder what could make her not to come along with her costume bag. Are you not seeing that other major artistes here all came with their costume bags?”

After the Executive Producer wielded into the matter, it was immediately resolved, and Ogbodo could be seen hugging the costumier after she concluded her scenes.

Romance / Boob-shaped Weights Manufactured By Company To Attract Men To The Gym by cleangurl: 9:04pm On Sep 23, 2013

Many men would like to lift weights, but they don’t do it because it gets boring. Now, a company came up with a way to spice things up.

A company in Ukraine released their new product for men, boob-shaped weights! The weights will be sold in sporting goods stores. It will also be sold to fitness clubs, which want to attract more male clients.
“These equipment are for real men, who think about women all the time,” the company wrote on their website. The novelty weights were created by the Kiev-based company named 306 Creative Communication Agency.
According to their Facebook page, the anticipation has been building, with stores and fitness clubs showing interest in carrying the product.
Previously, the agency published a photo of the prototype and wrote: “test casting was a success! Pre-orders open!”
The company made sure to please every man, as they made the weights in different sizes, whatever a man prefers.

Do you like a big busted woman? No problem. Just make sure you can “handle it”. The boob-weights come in small, medium and large, and in three different colors. They are apparently made of cast iron, glossy paint and matt paint coating.

Just like women, the weight will have a nice price tag. A 35 pound weight will sell for $375, the 52 pound will sell for $435 and the 70 pound will cost $495.

Celebrities / I Can't Wear One Clothe Twice -- Yvonne Vixen Ekwere by cleangurl: 10:25pm On Sep 21, 2013

The tv presenter told punch the reason why celebrities like her can not wear a cloth twice:

Whenever I am on the Red Carpet and paparazzi take my pictures, I always say ‘chei! So I will not wear this dress again?’ The pictures will be plastered everywhere including the Internet and magazines. It spoils show for me. It is not that we don’t like wearing a particular dress for more than one event, but we’ll rather not do it.But you will abuse me if I repeat a dress.

People would write that we repeated a dress. Because of that, I wear a dress and since I know I will not wear it again, I dash it out. I give my assistant my clothes. I give to family members and friends as well. But then, I auction my clothes to my friends on twitter.
Do you consider her idealogy as genuine and reasonable? For me, I think it's a brilliant one.

Celebrities / Thanks To Obasanjo’s ‘insult’. It Made Me A Superstar" –eedris Abdulkareem by cleangurl: 9:47am On Sep 21, 2013

Controversies and scandals aside, Afro Hip Hop artiste, Eedris Abdulkareem, is happy that he chose the path of music. Anytime his name is mentioned in a gathering, many incidents readily come to mind. For some people it is his scuffle with American rapper, 50 Cents, during his visit to Nigeria, in 2004. Others may choose to remember his numerous swipes at colleagues in his songs.

When asked to comment on the high point of his career, his face lights up in a smile:
“The best to ever happen to me was former President Olusegun Obasanjo talking back at me, calling me a mere street boy whose father is not known. The president took me to the next level, I became a super star, and now people know me, because Obasanjo put me in his level.”
As if these achievements are not enough, the rapper, who has been running an independent label, La Kreem Records, since 2004, is happy because he has succeeded in keeping the home front intact in spite of controversies.

“I love my family and wife so much that I don’t joke with them. I have been married for 13 years, though they thought it would last three months. I proved to them that it is possible to be a family man and artiste at the same time. I am an inspiration to other married celebrities,” he boasts.

Things can only get better, as far as Eedris is concerned. With a sixth album due in November, the Osun State native, who says he has a few friends in the industry, tries to clear a few issues off his chest.

“I don’t need endorsements, but I am cool with the shows that Mike Adenuga has been giving me. Shows are enough for me. I will endorse my own product which I am putting together. I need more shows because they pay my bills. If I tell you I want endorsements you may think that most of the things I sing about are for endorsement. I don’t want it, but I do it for other Nigerian artistes so they can live big. But if you must endorse, choose people that will add value to your life.

Endorsement is the best thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. My only grouse is that abroad, endorsed artistes add value to other people’s lives. Here in Nigeria, it is the opposite,” he says.
