Benin 🇧🇯 is one country you cant write off. They are a smaller Nigeria
They should start scoring. At least 3 goals.

It seems this Egypt Vs Benin game will be one with very little goals.

Tournament football is a paradox. The joy you experience from winning, will become pain the day you lose.
Just imagine your team trailing by 1/2 goals at 80 minutes in the knockouts. The pressure will be intense.

If we conceed first , we are likely to draw or lose
Zimbabwe vs Nigeria in away 1:1 , we equalize
Lesotho vs Nigeria Uyo 1:1 we equalize
South Africa vs Nigeria home and away .
We lost the world cup ticket the moment we played draw twice against Zimbabwe and Lesotho..SA will go world cup to entertain but may not win a game
Exactly

For Those of you pushing aside the clamour for the team to develop a comeback mentality. For the past 3 years or more sef, it's on record that when we concede first, we've not been able to comeback to win the game.

Why do you need to comeback when you are dominating game and take your chances? This SE na Barcelona philosophy dem get..Outscore your opponents.
We know. But will that always be the case?
What if we face other top teams and they start leading us? Especially in the closing minutes of the game.

We've seen this scenario many times in some of our past games, where the game would be a goalless draw until the 60-70th minute, the opposition will score us and that's the end for us.

Akkin:
Should Nigeria make it out against Mozambique....then quarterfinals is their likely bus stop....they can't match Algeria or drc in 90minutes and concede goals unlike the last Afcon

What Nigeria lacks is a comeback spirit....where you're two goals down against an under dog similar to Gabon v civ or France v Argentina but you believe that till the last minute, the game ain't over....that's the spirit that wins you tournaments

The super eagles have so far scored first in all of their Afcon fixtures in 2025....what would happen when drc or Algeria scores two first??

Can they comeback?
This comeback spirit is key. We lack it, and it was very evident in the last afcon, and the world cup qualifiers.
The team should develop that fighting spirit and strong mentality, then it will reflect in our playing style.

Unpopular opinion but Benjamin fredrick is too short to be a world class centre back

Osimhen is untouchable
Even if he loses penalty
Nigerians love Osimhen
I think he became a Super Eagle legend already even if they don’t win anything
That first goal against Cameroon in the l2023 AFCON sealed it for me
If we had more fighters & energetic players like Osimhen we should be flogging all these African teams
Osimhen is just an anomaly, he risks his body to score goals
Some of the goals he has for Napoli is absurd
Nodding the ball and landing on his head
To me Osimhen is Nigerias best ever striker
I watched Yekini in France 98 (beyond his prime though, I wasn’t impressed)
All you said are facts and nothing can dispute that. I love him too.
I carry am for head pass many people here sef. But me I just stated the truth with a little bit of yabbing. Wetin you nor get you nor get am, I nor fit come dey attribute quality/skill weh you nor get to you.

Even the players sef dey yab themselves. See Bassey and Chukwueze for example. But oga Odunayaw here say na my yabbing dey pain am. It's like he knows Osimhen personally.

Victor Osimhen rarely shoots those type of shots because they are not high percentage looks. He always tries to play the game the right way. If he decided to shoot on sight he will easily score that type of goal.
For Nigeria, All his shots on sight from outside the box are wide. None on target

As you no fit talk "certain qualities" without saying nonsense about Osimhen
I dey tell you again, Osimhen go tear ACL before he fit score that kind goal. Abi na everytime you want make dem dey sweet mouth player?!
How many times you don see Osimhen shoot from outside?!

Person nor get the qualities for long range precision strikes, and I say he go tear ACL before he fit do such, you say na nonsense I dey talk. Where's the lie there?

Na to bring yeye agenda una sabi
Small thing you don talk down Osimhen because of one striker wey you just know yesterday
I no blame you sha
You and Odunayaw, it's like una dey think say na everytime opposition defence go leave you to venture inside their box. There some days you'll be wishing there was someone who was confident enough to take shots from outside, as the defence is impenetrable. From one of those shots, goals might come in, or corner kicks.

We need an additional striker like that Cameroon's kofane. Before Osimhen go fit score that kind goal, he go tear ACL.

Igoh Ogbu was solid vs Uganda by the way. A huge influence on our buildups from the back and a firm presence too defensively.

Igoh Ogbu, Calvin Bassey, Benjamin Frederick. Add a fast rising Vince Osuji at Club Brugge and a few more talented heads like Nwaiwu and Chukwu and we are stacked at CB.

The Super Eagles Central defence is gonna be arguably Africa's strongest for the next decade post-Ajayi, Post-Ekong.

This Afcon is the transition period for the defence.
I love Ogbu's long forward passes

TheSuperNerd:
One of the main differences between Nigeria's Perfect Group Stage run back at the 2021 Afcon in Cameroun and this one in Morocco 2025 is:

🔮 The Afcon 2021 team relied heavily on Moses Simon. He was the main man in that Eguavoen team and key to the monotonous long balls plan executed constantly from the CBs. Mark him closely and it was all over.
But this Morocco 2025 team under Chelle has more than one dangerman to rely on.

The starting midfield (Ndidi-Onyeka-Iwobi) of this Chelle team is also stronger than the starting midfield (Aribo-Ndidi) Eguaovoen paraded.

The history of Afcon 2021 will not repeat itself. This Super Eagles team is going far in Morocco.
Very true.
