According to one of the participants we interviewed, Jennifer who is a graduate of Ekiti State University (EKSU), the program is the first of it's kind in ESKU. She said the program was totally free. All you needed do was to go for the program. She added that anyone that was tested was tested for free and students could ask questions from the Professional Doctor that was available. Another participant and co-organiser of the program, Oyinlola, said the program is a shift for so many youths. He was so astonished by the number of students that turned up for the health program particularly, the HIV tests. He added that the results of the tests would be sent to the individuals via text messages for confidentiality. During the interview, he told CloudGossips that people responded to the test without stigmatization which is unlike before. A lot of students were willing to check their status. He urges the youths and elders to take their health seriously. The president of The Health City, Odunola who is a Medical student at EKSU said she was so excited. She acknowledged that the turn u was more that they expected. They expected about 100 participants but got about 200. According to her, so many questions were asked in which the Doctor, Dr Aderibigbe from EKSUITH, provided answers to. On why she chose Preventive medicine rather than curative medicine, she responded that prevention is always the best in all cases. It saves time, apart from money, stress, pain, and all that. Just last month, primary and secondary school teachers in Osun State embarked on an industrial action because of non-payment of salaries, likewise on the 1st of June,2015, NASU in EKSU did the same thing over same dilemma. In view of this,I think the following questions need to be answered , why is it that our educational sector is suffering over funds and salary? Why is it that hands that work is suffering? so d It is obvious from the aforementioned that the federal and indeed state governments who own these schools have not proven to be honourable in ensuring the faithful implementation of the agreements they entered into with the academia from the onset. This has engendered a lack of trust and confidence of the scholars in the government. It is worthy of note that the latest strike action in EKSU has already disrupted the academic calendar. What is Strike? According to Oxford dictionary of learning, strike means refusal to work as a form of organized protest, typically in an attempt to obtain a particular concession or concessions from their employer. Academic strike on the other hand, means refusal of lecturers and teachers to work. It may be in form of organized protest also, typically in an attempt to obtain a particular concession or concessions from their employer. Over time, the issue of strike has generated a lot of controversies and setbacks in the development of the educational sector and up till now, the solution seems not- to-be in sight as strike actions continue in most tertiary institutions across the nation,Nigeria. It is surprising that despite all efforts put in place by the Federal Ministry of Education and other regulatory agencies to mitigate strike actions in the nation’s higher institutions, the trend still persists as if nothing has been done to curb it. One would begin to wonder what must have led to this unending situation faced by the educational sector. Is it the system that is so bad or those that are piloting the affairs of the sector? Sometimes stakeholders begin to ask if the issue of strike would not destroy government’s genuine efforts in repositioning the educational sector the way things are going. CONSIDERING ASUU AS AN ASSOCIATION. The ASUU was formed in 1978, a successor to the Nigerian Association of University Teachers formed in 1965 and covering academic staff in all of the Federal and State Universities in the country. HISTORY OF ASUU STRIKE IN NIGERIA: 1999---5 months 2001---3 months 2002---2 weeks 2003---6 months(ended in 2004) 2005---3 days 2006---1 week 2007---3 months 2008---1 week 2009---4 months 2010---5months and 1 week 2011---3 months(ended in 2012) 2013---11 weeks+.... The impact of the ASUU strike and the likes of other industrial actions always fall on innocent students as there would be no lecture and little or no concentration on academics for both lecturers and the students. In most cases, schools are shut down. So the need to work towards ending continuous strike in the tertiary institutions in the country is very necessary as it affects the development of education. According to Prof. Dairo(EKSU Dean of Agric):"Staffs of many institutions go on strike only for the sake of there inconsistent salary and benefits, but they forgot to join students to go on strike,if there's an unforeseen exponential rise in fees". This point I believe is also part of a leap to a better academic scenerio. THE PROS AND CONS; AND THE DIVERSE EFFECTS ON ALL The "diverse effects on all" means how strike influences and affects both the lecturers and the students. Below are some points; GAINS OF LECTURERS 1. Increased allowances for project supervision, call duty, extra hours worked, hazards, etc. 2. Payment of salaries and entitlements for the several months in which they didn’t work! 3. Those schools that usually do not partake in the industrial struggle e.g UNILORIN and RSUST will also benefit from the infrastructure funds and the earned allowances. NEGATIVE EFFECT OF THE STRIKE ON LECTURERS Delay in obtaining Masters and PhD’s for those still doing their postgraduate studies. GAINS OF THE STRUGGLE FOR STUDENTS 1. The funds released for infrastructure will be used to meet the immediate needs of our schools. Some will use the funds to construct more hostels, some will use it to equip libraries, provide internet connectivity, build laboratories and furnish them, amongst others. These are projects that will aid learning and ultimately benefit students. 2. Those that will later join the academia and become Professors among us will also have the benefit of retiring at 70 years. 3. Those that will join the academia among us will also enjoy the special allowances that the current struggle will benefit lecturers in the years to come. NEGATIVE EFFECT OF THIS STRUGGLE FOR STUDENTS. 1. BATTERED ACADEMIC CALENDAR Academic calendar is thus in tatters! In this view,I think Vice Chancellors and Governing Council members of tertiary institutions in the country should be held responsible for any crisis, because they are there to guide against issues that could lead to crisis. They are supposed to nip any crisis in bud under their supervision in order to avert unforeseen occurrences that may arise. 2.Many of our students would now have time to fully engage in social vices such as prostitution, cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery, fraud and many others in order to while away time as well as make illicit money. 3.It will be difficult for many of us to seek proper legitimate job as we are not certain when our lecturers will call off their strike; more so, we have no meaningful qualifications to seek full employment. 4.In the course of needless travels embarked upon by students when their lecturers down tools, some of the students have died prematurely. 5.The disruption of studies of the students will also have negative psychological impact on us. By the time the strike is over, many of the students would most likely have forgotten what they were taught before the unwarranted break. NEGATIVE EFFECT OF STRIKE ON OUR NATION NIGERIA This frequent dislocation and disability of our public tertiary education is what is making many wealthy Nigerians to send their children and wards to tertiary institutions abroad(in Ghana, the United Kingdom, the United States of America even Asian countries). Millions of scarce foreign currencies are lost to this "educational tourism" as payments have to be made in dollars, Euros or pound sterling, but only for the privileged. Those who cannot send their children overseas have to pay through their nose educating them at the more stable private universities in the country. All the problems that have been causing incessant strikes in the tertiary institutions across the country can be tackled by those put in place to administer the institutions such as governing councils and the management. Professor Chinua Achebe(march 22, 2013) said "While we do our good works let us not forget that there's a medium for both likely and unlikely". Strikes are an unfortunate part of the negotiations between Staffs and the management. Fortunately they are as nearly as common as they used to be, large part because both the unions and the government(management) have not realized just how disruptive strike can be. Earlier this semester, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State introduced an Entrepreneurship Course across all levels in the school; from 100 to 500Level. However, since the course was introduced, there had never been a lecture or materials like photocopies or textbooks distributed to the students. The students registered the course with N1000. Last week, a broadcast was sent on BBM, Whatsapp and Facebook notifying the students that a lecture was going to hold today starting by 8am to 2pm for all the levels. At least, each category or level has a minimum of 2000 students. This students are to be in a class for the a lecture. After about an hour beyond the scheduled time, two lectures came into one of the classes, the one for the 300Level students, and stood at the podium for some times without talking to the students. They tried to leave the class when the students halted them with a shout. They claimed the students were making noise. They later left the class. The unavailability of Public Address System made the class worst as there was no adequate communication between the lecturers and the students. read full news here>>> www.cloudgossips.com/2015/05/photo-eksu-management-teaches.html?m=1 |

By Amerijoye Akintomide Ifelola We pray Heavenly Father that you will help us to understand this write-up and live it and use it for your Glory- Amen ! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In the world of today, the above issues has gone so vogue and in every mind of every believer. Is it a sin for a woman to use trousers? Hun... When God created man, He didn't create man alone, he created man and "man". The first man is the you reading this, whilst the second man is your "conscience". God installed conscience into the life of every man He created, but unfortunately, many have sold their to the devil in a transaction of wickedness. As Christians, we should let our conscience be hyper-active in everything we do in live. When you use something and your conscience condemns it, PLEASE STOP USING IT! Cos if you don't yield, your conscience will appear and stand against you on the day of judgment and say "Did I not warn you?" May your conscience not stand against you-Amen! If you examine my profile picture down there, you'll notice the crazy hair-cut on my big head (Lol!). I have been called lots of names because of it but my conscience is so cool with it and so is my God, so who are they to judge? The moral lesson of this preamble is that you should let your conscience guide you in everything you do. Be it action, thought, or what have you. Please. In the book of Deuteronomy 22:5 the bible says " A woman shall not use that which pertains to a man, and a man shall not use that which pertains to a woman, whosoever does so is an abomination to the Lord your God". This is "THE LAW". The Law ruled the entire Old testament and in those days men have to offer sacrifices of lamb, sheep, oven, cattle and so on, on the alter with incence and then a sweet smelling salvo will arise and the Lord will smell it and forgive their sins or grant their heart desires. What a long process??! Thank God for technology (Jesus Christ) that was invented, now even in the comfort of your room, you can ask for mercy, and forgiveness just by confessing and you are good with God. Isn't that wonderful? THIS IS IT!!!... When Jesus died on the cross, the first place his soul went to was HELL FIRE, when He got to the gates of HELL, He said " lift up your head oh ye gates, and be ye lifted up oh ye everlasting doors, and the King of Glory shall come in..." Jesus went into hell for our sins, he went through all you should have gone through in HELL and paid all the prices. Immediately this was going on in HELL the bible recorded that the veil of the temple tore into two halves and the ark of covenant was revealed. Have you ever wondered what this meant? This is the meaning dearest reader- That second when that veil tore! Jesus unleashed something very powerful on all those who and who will believe in him called "GRACE". Now, people can see the ark of covenant through this veil- which implies that you can now go to God directly and you no longer need any priest, pastor, evangelist or whatever to speak to him for you, simply go to God on your knees and discuss with Him. This is the GRACE Christ gave. How wonderful! By this Grace, we are re-adopted by God and He called us "My own". Now in romans 6:14 " for sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the Law but under GRACE! Halleluyah! This is one of the beautiful gifts Christ has given to us. Just his blood! So my brothers and sisters, you are NO LONGER under the Law but under GRACE! Deuteronomy 22:5 is the Law, Christ has canceled that for you okay? Enjoy GRACE! I must mention that now that you are free in Christ you should use grace with your senses! Wear trousers with senses o... How do I mean? Good... DO NOT wear your trousers in a way that will cause men to be tempted (commit sin). Flee from tight skinned leggins of nylon materials and other ungodly assorted designers! Something in the picture above is very okay. If u wear it in such a way that the shape of your bum n laps can be clearly examined please stop now.. Doing it that way, your wearing trousers is now sin. Don't cause people to fall. God bless you. Enjoy His Grace. |
Proverbs 16:33 The Message (MSG) Make your motions and cast your votes, but GOD has the final say. 5 REASONS WHY YOU DON'T NEED TO DIE FOR ANY POLITICIAN BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER ELECTIONS : 1. In 2011, Governor Shekarau of Kano State contested for the Presidency on the platform of ANPP against President Jonathan of PDP. So did Nuhu Ribadu of ACN. Today, Gov. Shekarau is a Minister in President Jonathan's cabinet & a member of the President's party & Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is the PDP's candidate for governorship of Adamawa State. How many were killed because of them in 2011? 2. President Obasanjo and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu were thought to be sworn enemies. When President Obasanjo took over SW Nigeria in 2003, Gov. Tinubu became "last man standing" against him in ACN/Lagos. Today, Obasanjo is Tinubu's "Navigator" & Tinubu is treasured guest at Obasanjo's birthday. How many died believing they were enemies? 3. Fmr Govs, Engr. Segun Oni and Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti used to be political foes and now they belong to the same party. Both are alive as friends & some folks had died fighting for them. 4. Fmr. Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola never saw eye to eye with Governor Aregbesola. Now, they belong to the same party, some people died for both, but were they not always friends? 5. President Obasanjo was prepared to throw VP Atiku Abubakar out of Aso Rock. Who would have thought that Atiku would visit Obasanjo in Otta farm after all the brouhaha; politicians belong to one big family. They have their interest at stake, do not die for them especially when you have nothing at stake. Vote, that is your obligation. You do not owe anyone a duty to die. Value your life, if you are still alive you can be better than them.Say no to violence, say no to blood letting. Make a choice with your PVC & let Nigeria be the winner! Spread the word |

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Friday, raised the alarm that a fake letter purportedly written by the Presidency to it to initiate discrete probe of key opposition figures in the country, was in circulation. The commission described the letter said to have been written and signed by the Chief of Staff to the President as fake, and ordered the agency to investigate the opponents. “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC wishes to alert the public about a letter supposedly from the office of the Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, mandating the commission to initiate discreet investigation against some prominent political figures in the country,” a statement by EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said. “The commission urges the public to discountenance the said letter as it is forged document, intended to mislead the people.“ The features of the letter are markedly different from that on a genuine letter from the office of the Chief of Staff to the president,” the statement said. Uwujaren therefore urged Nigerians to discountenance the document. He also released pictures of both the fake and the genuine letters from the President to guide the public. http://cloudgosip..com/2015/03/picture-jonathan-did-not-order-probe-of.html?m=1

In order to arrest a potential situation like the loss of the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) or even difficulty in locating collection centres, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has decided to engage the services of the All New 7411 National Directory Service. According to PM News, INEC’s director of voters education and publicity, Barrister Oluwole Uzzi, said in a chat with the media that sourcing such information from the Commission through the directory via telephone calls will cost N12/minute as approved by NCC, which it noted is not more than the normal call rate in the country, “making it affordable to all to call at no extra charges to the caller.” In explaining the modality of operation in a letter to the Bureau of 7411 directory and signed by the secretary to the commission, Mrs. Augusta C. Ogakwu, the commission said that all information disseminated to Nigerians via 7411 national directory service shall be accurately sourced from official sources only. Commending INEC for having faith in 7411 directory and for engaging its services, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Bureau of 7411 directory, Okeowo Desmond Olasubomi applauded INEC for its support so far. Okeowo noted that his team will ensure as part of his company’s corporate social responsibility to Nigerians that 7411 Bureau of Information will continue to “do our best in helping Nigerians get to their desired destinations correctly.” Okeowo added that “when Nigerians dial 7411, they can locate collection points of their PVC cards and voting centres, and thousands of frequently asked questions and telephones directory of INEC’s offices and hotlines have been uploaded and will be shared daily with Nigerians as they dial 7411 on a 24hrs. basis speaking their preferred languages.” It will be recalled that Jega reiterated his promised that the commission will meet Nigerians’ aspiration for free, fair and credible elections during a meeting with the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja.

THE management of Ekiti State University EKSU has directed her students to go home until they are been communicated to come back. This is due to the sitting-strike that ASUU embarked on because of non payment of salaries. We gathered that the Governor of the State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, had said that there is no enough money to pay there salaries. Consequently, the Lectures embarked on an indefinite strike saying they can't work on an empty stomach. EKSU is now synonymous to strike....
