A viral video has surfaced showing the Benin–Asaba Expressway in a devastating condition after hours of heavy rainfall. The once-busy highway has now turned into a muddy, flooded nightmare, with deep potholes, stranded vehicles, and frustrated commuters battling to move through the chaos.
Drivers and passengers could be seen wading through knee-deep water as trucks and cars got stuck for hours, causing major traffic gridlock. Many residents have taken to social media to lament the poor state of federal roads and the lack of proper drainage systems in the area.
The video has since sparked outrage, with citizens calling on both the Edo and Delta State governments, as well as the Federal Ministry of Works, to take immediate action and fix the collapsing road before it becomes completely impassable.

Car companies should start developing Nigeria models for swimming in this type of situation
In a dramatic twist, the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, appeared in court today and chose to defend himself, after reportedly sacking his entire legal team.
Eyewitnesses from the courtroom say Kanu, dressed in his usual white attire, spoke confidently as he addressed the judge directly, insisting he would personally handle his case going forward.
The courtroom moment sparked mixed reactions — with supporters hailing his boldness as a sign of strength, while others expressed concern about the implications of facing such a complex case without legal counsel.

The Ijaw man, Sowore standing for Igbo. Igbo man have tendency to prosper in strange land and Ijaw man have tendency to love strangers like their own or even more than their own.
Igbos aren't our enemies but we can only operate as two different nations because two captains can't be in one ship and Igbos aren't larger than Ijaws both in area size and population.
The type of policemen recruited should be reviewed. So, these men didn’t want themselves to be recorded, yet they couldn’t detect that they are being recorded. What a country!
Yemmysworld91: It's not Tinubu's fault. The earliest beneficiary of Nigeria politics in the advent of the Fourth Republic could have changed it, but they refused. So, let's enjoy it while it lasts
Just mention names
They left it this way so they can influence results
It is only Jonathan that didn’t really know how to exploit this power
EyeCumInPeace: Funny Corn3. Imagine Man U being the one to appoint & be responsible for the welfare/salaries of the referee that will officiate in their match against Arsenal.
Even the headline is funny
How can a sitting president swear-in INEC Chairman? Eventhough the Judiciary may be compromised, they should be allowed to execute this function without the involvement of the Executives
Indeed, Nigeria’s constitution needs to be reviewed, if not overhauled
joyteachdaily: Last week, something happened in my class that left me thinking deeply about parenting and discipline.
I gave my students homework on Friday, to be submitted on Monday. Come Monday, I noticed one of them quietly scribbling away in class. I walked closer and yes, she was writing the same homework I gave days ago.
When I asked her, she denied it immediately. Boldly. Without blinking. I felt disappointed, not just because she didn’t do the homework, but because she lied.
So, I raised my voice a little (in love, not in anger), and told her to kneel outside the class for lying. No beating. No insults. Just correction.
The next day, her mother stormed the school. “Why did you bully my child?” she asked. I was stunned. Bully? Because I corrected her child for lying and doing homework in class?
That moment made me realize something. Many parents today don’t want teachers to correct their children, yet they still expect those same children to grow into disciplined adults.
Dear parents, When you defend your child’s wrongs instead of addressing them, you’re teaching them that lying is fine as long as someone covers for them.
Discipline isn’t hatred. Correction isn’t bullying. Teachers are partners in raising your children, not enemies.
What do you think, should teachers stop correcting children to avoid being misunderstood, or should we keep doing what’s right no matter what?
Just tell me this is a made-up story. Really? A mother came to ask a teacher why she punished her child?

Armed Robbers Raid 11 Compounds in Jikwoyi, Abuja, Before Dawn; Residents Report Gunshots and Assaults
ABUJA (FCT) — Tuesday, October 21, 2025: An armed gang of about a dozen men attacked multiple homes in Jikwoyi, a suburb near Karu, in the early hours of Tuesday, carting away cash, jewellery, and other valuables, The Bureau News learned on scene.
Residents said the attackers scaled perimeter fences and forced their way into apartments across eleven compounds, smashing doors and windows. The intruders, who addressed one another with names like “Area” and “Commander,” spoke in Hausa and Fulfulde, according to eyewitnesses.
Streets and families hit
Multiple homes around PGC Estate (five compounds reported) Omachonu Isaac's Family Households identified locally as Mummy & Daddy Tehila, Chief Sunny, and Mummy & Daddy King-David Several adjacent compounds within the same neighbourhood cluster
“We couldn’t sleep all night,” a resident told The Bureau News on condition of anonymity. “There were sporadic gunshots, doors breaking, windows shattering, and people crying as they were slapped and beaten.”
Arrests and police response
Community sources said two suspects were apprehended during the chaos, though details remained sketchy. Attempts by The Bureau News to reach the Jikwoyi Police Division were unsuccessful as calls did not connect at press time.
Security concerns and immediate needs
The overnight raid has rattled middle-class estates in Jikwoyi, where residents are urging increased patrols, functioning streetlights, and rapid response coverage along access roads toward Karu. Community leaders also asked victims to document losses and seek medical care for trauma and injuries.
But this was the reason I wrote sometime that police should be respected. Now they are asking for patrols. Who would patrol if not these same policemen the citizens mock and even assault them in public. There may be some bad ones amongst them, but making public mockery of the police gives criminals the confidence to cause havoc. Where is that woman who was assaulting policeman the other time? Can she also stand against this kind of criminals? People would hail her online b, but when real criminals come she will still be asking for the police to show up
The criminals who caused this should be made to face the full wrath of the law.
My Post does not supposed this criminal acts. It only emphasises the need to also encourage our Forcemen.
ARISHEM: They have already told us that we should be expecting you to say this any moment from now after the disgraceful incident. You say you are not attacked. Prove that by showing your head. We dont want your rebuttal on pen. We want it on video with your face and head untouched
Is this the lawmaker? He’s looking young. The youths should ensure anyone given opportunity to be in political position ises it well, so the older men won’t reference it as a reason they want to ‘die’ in power
Wait…
What is it with Abia lawmakers?
Was the fair ‘Albino’ lawmaker who slapped an Uber driver, saying he can make him to disappear, not from the same State?
Again, he’s a youth.
Youths should wise up and elect responsible ones amongst themselves into political offices
dibusnotion: change this lawyer asap i said this in a thread last week that Kanu's lawyers are not brilliant. they are making it an eastern lawyers affair. Put emotions aside and employ the services of top western and northern lawyers
Are they even using the best lawyers be it from the East/South or North?
FreeStuffsNG: I honestly don't know why they went for such a name with negative perception. They didn't consult branding experts.
Apart from the notoriety the cannibal used to tarnish the name, it's meaning in English implies ruins legacy yet someone chose to name a future citadel such a ruinous name. Smh
People have been answering the name before the criminal So what of Evans?
The Evans publishers should also rename their company?
Now she have landed her self in double sorrow; languishing in prison and thinking about her dead child
Maybe she has done it before and it worked. But this is very careless of her. At least use some people in your community or cycle (and pay them even if it’s quarter of what you’d earn from work) Just find alternatives
Human rights activist and former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on Monday described the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as a symbol of Nigeria’s deepening social injustice, warning that public anger could soon erupt into a massive nationwide movement.
Mr Sowore addressed a crowd around the popular Utako Market, Abuja, where the protesters regrouped after the initial disruption of their demonstration near Transcorps Hilton Hotel in the Maitama District on Monday.
Tohsynetita1: This sowore no get liver joor, you want to protest, you don’t plan for these ahead? You just Dey Nigeria? If you want to have meaningful protest, you should not be afraid, And that’s why you have to have a good plans to neutralize their attacks by all means
The government have court order banning the protest, yet he went ahead
As citizen of a country, your Government will always be stronger than you. There’s no strong man against Government, unless with other government’s backing. This is why the citizens need to vote in people who would use this power for the good of the country.
Sowore can make more noise on the media, but if the government wants to deal with him, she will
There is growing public outrage in Lagos following reports that some members of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) enforcement team operating along the Ikorodu corridor have allegedly resorted to extorting motorists outside their designated operational areas.
Eyewitness accounts and viral videos circulating online show officers, who are meant to regulate traffic and ensure order within the BRT lane, stopping private vehicles and commercial motorists on regular public lanes, far from the restricted BRT median.
The enforcement officials were reportedly seen flagging down unsuspecting drivers and allegedly demanding money under the guise of enforcing BRT regulations — an act many commuters have described as “lawless and exploitative.”
One driver who spoke anonymously said:
“These officials no longer stay within the BRT lane. They now cross to the main road and stop cars that have nothing to do with the BRT lane. Once they stop you, they demand money before you can move.”
Several motorists have taken to social media to express their frustration, calling on the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to investigate and sanction the erring officers.
Transport analysts warn that such unregulated enforcement activities could erode public trust in the BRT system, which was originally introduced to ease congestion and improve urban mobility in the state.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations. However, civic groups and transport unions are urging authorities to act swiftly, emphasizing that extortion and harassment under the cover of traffic enforcement must not be tolerated.
The incident adds to growing concerns about misconduct among some traffic enforcement agents in Lagos, with citizens calling for transparency, accountability, and reform in the state’s traffic management system.
The BRT signs should be made to be very clear
Meanwhile, how did he get into your car and you continued driving?
