CrimeAssault On Letugbene Indigene, Mr. Shell Ibomoiye, And Threat To Peace In Ekerem by Cobraty(op): 2:59pm On Sep 13, 2025
Official Release...!

ASSAULT ON LETUGBENE INDIGENE, MR. SHELL IBOMOIYE, AND THREAT TO PEACE IN EKEREMOR LGA.

We, the undersigned, on behalf of the good people of Letugbene Community in Iduwini Kingdom, Ekeremor Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, wish to draw the urgent attention of the Bayelsa State Government, relevant security agencies, and the constituted 11-man peace committee to a grave incident that threatens the peace of our area.

On the 12th September 2025, our illustrious son, Mr. Shell Ibomoiye, who is an employed CLO of Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited (RAEC), formerly Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), was assaulted by members of Ogbotobo Community. During the attack, it was openly declared that he “should not be found in their community because he is from Letugbene.”

In addition, a lady who had gone to visit an indigene of Letugbene Community on the same day was unlawfully held hostage by Ogbotobo people, forced to the police station without any justifiable reason, and further threatened her never to pass through their community whenever she intends to visit Mr. Pereama Dowel at Letugbene. This brazen act of intimidation clearly shows a pattern of harassment, victimization, and lawlessness against Letugbene indigenes and their associates.

These collective actions by Ogbotobo Community are not only unlawful but also undermine the authority of the state government, which had directed both communities to remain calm and await the outcome of the ongoing peace process. They are deliberate provocations capable of igniting another round of crisis if unchecked.

We therefore humbly request that:

1. The Bayelsa State Government orders an immediate investigation into these incidents.

2. Security agencies are directed to increase surveillance and protection in both communities.

3. The 11-man committee expedites its work to deliver lasting peace and forestall further violence.

4. The perpetrators of these assaults, intimidation, and unlawful actions, together with their sponsors, are brought to justice to serve as a deterrent.

While Letugbene Community remains committed to peace, we emphasize that the safety, dignity, and rights of our indigenes, and those who associate with us, must be fully guaranteed.

Signed:
Chairman, Letugbene Community.

PoliticsRe: False Allegation Of Invasion Against Letugbene Community by Cobraty(op): 8:23am On Aug 31, 2025
PRESS RELEASE

RE: FALSE ALLEGATION OF INVASION AGAINST LETUGBENE COMMUNITY

31-08-2025

The leadership of Letugbene community has received with deep concern a recent publication credited to certain individuals under the banner of “Concerned Youths of Ogbotobo” alleging that Letugbene indigenes invaded a fishing camp on the 29th of August, 2025, carted away logs of timber, and violated the peace directive of the Bayelsa State Government.

We wish to categorically state as follows:

1. Baseless Allegations:
The said report is a complete falsehood, lacking substance, and intended to mislead the public, incite tension, and undermine the credibility of the Letugbene community before government authorities. At no time did our people engage in any attack or invasion as mischievously alleged.

2. Respect for Government Directive:
Following the peace meeting convened on the 21st of August, 2025, and presided over by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Letugbene community has maintained absolute commitment to the directive to sheath swords and sustain the fragile peace pending the outcome from the government.

3. Pattern of Propaganda:
It is regrettable that, instead of embracing peace, certain elements in Ogbotobo community have resorted to deliberate propaganda and unfounded accusations aimed at blackmailing Letugbene. These antics are not new, but we will not be distracted.

4. Open to Investigation:
We reaffirm our readiness to cooperate fully with the Bayelsa State Government, security agencies, and the investigative committee in carrying out an independent and unbiased inquiry into these allegations. Letugbene community is confident that the truth will exonerate us.

5. Appeal for Restraint:
We call on our Ogbotobo brothers and sisters to desist from inflammatory publications capable of destabilizing the ongoing peace process. What our communities need at this critical moment is sincerity, restraint, and respect for constituted authority.

Conclusion

Letugbene community remains a peace-loving community and will not allow falsehood or provocation to derail the efforts of the Bayelsa State Government in finding a lasting solution to the issues at hand.

We urge the general public and relevant authorities to disregard the said publication in its entirety, as it does not represent the reality on ground.

Signed:
The Leadership of Letugbene Community.

PoliticsLetugbene Comm. Reaffirms Commitment To Peace Following D, Governor’s Directive by Cobraty(op): 7:21pm On Aug 24, 2025
[sup]Letugbene Community Reaffirms Commitment to Peace Following Deputy Governor’s Directive.

In line with the directive of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the leadership of Letugbene Community convened a crucial meeting aimed at strengthening peace and harmony with their sister community, Ogbotobo.

PoliticsUnwarranted Trespass Incursion Into Letugbene Community Land/territoryc by Cobraty(op): 4:10pm On Jul 23, 2025
*Unwarranted Trespass Incursion into Letugbene Community Land/Territory by SPDC now Renaissance African Energy Company Limited in Connivance with Ogbotobo Community*

The Letugbene community is outraged over the unwarranted trespass incursion into our ancestral lands by SPDC, now known as Renaissance African Energy Company Limited, in collaboration with the Ogbotobo community. This brazen act of disregard for our territorial rights has sparked tensions and violence, putting the lives of our youths at risk.

The boundary between Ogbotobo and Letugbene community is clearly demarcated by Etebere Iba (creek) on the north side. However, recent discoveries by our hunters revealed that the company, in collaboration with Ogbotobo community, has cleared a large portion of our land without our knowledge or consent.

- On May 13th, 2025, our community sent delegates to confirm the incident, and they verified that the company had indeed cleared our land.
- On May 15th, 2025, we sent delegates to Ogbotobo community to ascertain why they carried out such operations without informing the owners of the land, despite knowing they had crossed our boundary.

The situation escalated when our community asked the Ogbotobo indigenes to vacate our land peacefully. Instead, they refused and we continue to receive threats from the Ogbotobo community, which has created a sense of insecurity and fear among our people.

The Letugbene people are known for being peace-loving and have always sought to resolve conflicts through dialogue. However, we will never allow anyone to intimidate us or put their hands on our eyes. We will stand firm in defending our rights and our land. Let it be known that while we prefer peace, the Letugbene people are not afraid of war. We hope it doesn't come to that, but we will not be cowed by threats or violence.

We urge the government to intervene in this matter and:

- Investigate the circumstances surrounding the oil company's operations on our land without our consent
- Ensure the oil company respects our rights and engages in meaningful consultation with our community
- Provide adequate protection and security for the Letugbene community
- Facilitate dialogue and peaceful resolution efforts between the Letugbene and Ogbotobo communities

We also call on the public to take note of the threats and violence directed towards us. We seek peaceful resolution, but we will not be intimidated or silenced. We demand justice and respect for our rights as the owners of the land. The Letugbene people are not lazy, and we are aware of the beating attitudes the Ogbotobo people have carried out on our youths. We will not back down; we will stand strong and united in defending our rights and our land.

Signed:

CrimeThe Oil-rich People Of Amatu II, Plead For An Embankment To Tackle The Erosion by Cobraty(op): 1:27pm On Jun 17, 2025
The Oil-rich people of Amatu II, a community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, have cried out again, pleading for an embankment to tackle the devastating coastal erosion that has been plaguing them for years.

Despite their struggles, no government agency seems to be listening to their cries. Many have lost their homes, which they worked tirelessly to build, to this erosion, leaving them scared and planning to relocate. If this issue isn't addressed, they'll lose everything. It's ironic that this oil-rich community, which significantly contributes to Nigeria's economy, is suffering and nobody comes to their aid.

As an NGO dedicated to caring for the people and society, we visited the community to document the erosion's impact in order to approach the government and multinational bodies for help. Although we did this last year, our evidence wasn't convincing enough according to them. So we decided to take more comprehensive images and videos showcasing the root cause and its effects on the community last week Saturday.

We'll share them here, so you can tag the Nigerian government, Bayelsa State government, and relevant multinational agencies, in the hope that they'll take notice and provide assistance.

SBN has one single goal..."Building a conducive and safe nation for all".

Together we can!!!
