https://img.naij.com/n/0b/2/syria-napalm-british-doctor.jpg Click here for more pics. Horrific footage has emerged showing the aftermath of a"napalm-like bomb" being dropped on a Syrian school, in an attack reported to have killed 10 children and left scores more with appalling burns. [Scroll down for videoWARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES] Witnesses told a team from the BBC's Panoramaprogramme that a fighter jet had repeatedly flown over the school in northern Syria, as if searching for a target, before dropping the bomb. The shocking footage came to light just hours after David Cameron suffered a historic Commons defeat when MPs voted against bombing Syria. The disturbing film shows a school playground - where pupils had been playingat the end of the school day - reduced to rubble and scorched earth after the incendiary bomb was dropped. Abandoned children's shoes and a ruined set of swings are seen among the debris, and pupils were reported to have been left"writhing in agony" from burns caused by the bombwhich probably contained something like napalm or thermite. Many of the victims suffered burns to more than 50% of their bodies, and adults and children are shown being treated on the floor of a basic hospital. One young boy is seen caked in a white substance and shaking uncontrollably as he waits for help. Others are covered in bloody burns, gasping out for water, and distraught parents cry hysterically as they see what hashappened to their loved ones. The school's headmaster told reporters: "This was the most horrific thing. We have seen images on TV, we have heard many stories, but we haveneverseen anything like this before. The worst thing in life is watching someone die right in front of you and you can't do anything. There were dead people, peopleburning and people running away, but where to? Where would they go? It is not safe anywhere. Thatis the fate of theSyrian people." A British medic, Dr Rola, who was in Syria with the charity Hand In Hand, treated the victims at the hospital. She said:"It is just absolute chaos and carnage here. We have had a massive influx of what looks likeserious burns, seems like it mustbe some sort of, not really sure, maybe napalm, something similar to that. "But obviously within the chaos of the situationit is very difficultto know exactly what is going on." Later, struggling to hold back tears, she said: "We feel like some sort of, not even a secondclass citizen, like we just don't matter.Like all of these children, and all of these people who are being killed and massacred, we don't matter. "The whole world has failed ournation and it is innocent civilians who are paying the price." Mohammed Abdullatif, who witnessed the attack, had a message for the United Nations. "Dear United Nations, you are calling peace, you are calling for peace. What kind of peace are you calling for? Don't you see this, don't you see this? What do you need to see? "We are just human beings, we want to live. It is our right to live," he said. http://www./photosvideo-bomb-dropped-on-school-in-sy.xhtml |

Nigerians in Canada who visited the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa Canada 23 August were disappointed when they got there to find to their chagrin the embassy was shut. A notice at the gate said the embassy officials have gone on"consular duties" and will not be opened until 27 August. The Nigerians, most of them students, had been given the appointment to come to the embassy to get their passports renewed. One Nigerian said he spent close to$1,000 to get to Ottawa from Calgary. One said he was going to waste$200 for coming to the embassy and not being able to fulfil his mission. A young Nigerian lady studying in Canada, expressed the greatest bitterness. She had travelled overnight to renew her passport. The journey cost her $300. She will have to spend another$300, to return to her station and contemplating making a return journey, she vowed to burn her Nigerian passport, whenever she becomes a Canadian citizen. "They don't treat you like human, they treat you like animals", the lady said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXgawJ0hbDY |

After going through this interview transcript, I noticed Nollywood actress was tagged the biggest movie star of all times by UK Stella Magazine but when you go further, you will notice this; “She scores a zero onthe Hollywood Richter scale. She hasnever starred in a major motion picture. Her most recent film, Last Flight to Abuja, means nothing to devotees of Netflix and LoveFilm.”Just thinking out loud. Is this a wayto honour a star? Is this an achievement or away of bashing her? Click Here For More latest gists/news like this today. http://www./she-scored-zero-onhollywood-scale-uk-mag.xhtml |

The Nigerian Army on Monday paraded 42 suspected Boko Haram members arrested in different parts of Lagos and Ogun States. They were said to have fled the ongoing military intervention in some parts of the north and were arrested between July 12 and 23. Parading the suspects at the headquarters of 81 Division, theGeneral Officer Commanding, GOC, Gen. Obi Umahi said the organised raid, was done in conjunction with intelligence operatives. The suspects were said to be planning to unleash terror in parts of the South West, including 81 Division’s area of operations. He said the raids were conducted at Ibafo trailer park and Ileke new trailer garage in Ogun State; Aviation quarters atMafoluku, Oshodi; Ketu/Mile 2 Motor Park; Orile trailer park; Lekki new extension and Bar beech, which are fast becomingBoko Haram terrorist enclaves. Umahi said at interrogation, thesuspects who were arrested at different intervals gave useful information that led to the clamping down on others. The GOC reiterated security agencies’ determination to rid the country of terrorists, addingthat the suspects will be handedover to relevant agencies. He however refused to disclose if weapons were recovered during the raid, “The Boko Haram trickling influx is adduced to their plan to unleash terror in some parts of the South West.” Meanwhile, one of the arrested suspects, Ibrahim Abubakar Bori, confirmed to newsmen that they took part in several major operations in Borno State, where several military personnel and civilians have been killed since the insurgencystated in 2009.
