Crime / Dj Killed By A Stray Bullet At Funeral In Anambra by Codedwaparz: 6:56am On Nov 27, 2017
A disc jockey, DJ, hired to perform at a burial ceremony in Alaife Umuaku Uli, in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State was reportedly killed by a stray bullet from the gun of a vigilante operative. The 34-year-old DJ, a father of four, Lotachukwu Nwagboso, who hailed from Ndikpo Umuaku Uli, was hired to play music at the burial ceremony of one Evangelist Vitalis Ihemeje and was allegedly gunned down by one Ibeanozie, who is presently at large.
According to an eyewitness, the suspect reportedly put the gun on his motorcycle. The gun went off, when he was trying to start the bike, killing the DJ on the spot. The eyewitness said the incident, which caused pandemonium at the burial, sparked off outrage as youths of Ndikpo went on rampage, destroying property and pulling down houses belonging to the suspect, as well as those of the family that organised the ceremony of their father. The elder brother of the suspect, Ifeanyi Ibeanozie, said they were friends to the bereaved family, hence their commitment to ensure the success of the burial, insisting that it was not a deliberate act. Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkiruka Nwode, who confirmed the incident, called on community leaders to be mindful of the kind of people they appoint as members of the vigilante and implored the people to give the Police information that will help in apprehending the suspect.

Politics / Fayose Provides Christmas Dresses For 10,000 Ekiti Children by Codedwaparz: 6:08pm On Nov 26, 2017
At least 10,000 indigent children in Ekiti State will be provided Christmas dress made from ankara and other materials during the yuletide season. The State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, disclosed this during a meeting with tailors in Ado-Ekiti.
In a press release by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, on Friday, the sewing and distribution of the clothes would take place in designated centres across the 16 local government areas of the state. Moreover, the governor said he would buy 100 sewing machines to complement those to be used by volunteer tailors during the exercise. The 100 sewing machines would later be given out to tailors through a transparent balloting process.
“When we were young, we always looked forward to the Christmas and New Year festivities that at least our parents would buy clothes for us. But with the prevailing economic situation in the country, some parents may not be able to do that and we felt we can help to bridge such gap. ” The exercise is part of our Stomach Infrastructure Programme and we have to take care of the needs or our people and make them happy. Also, it is a kind of financial empowerment for our people as we are buying all the materials here. We are also going to give the volunteer tailors some stipends during the exercise. “At the end of the exercise, some of the tailors will go home with sewing machines. In Ado-Ekiti, we are projecting to have five centres and maybe two in Ikere and one each in other local government areas,” he said. Fayose said only children between the ages of one to 10 would benefit from the exercise and that it would be first come first served. On the style to be sewn, the governor said it would be buba and sokoto for males and gowns for females.

Politics / Segun Oni Rejects Fayose’s Car Gift — Aide Reveals Why by Codedwaparz: 2:22am On Nov 15, 2017
Ado-Ekiti—THE Director-General of the Segun Oni Campaign Organization, SOCO, Dr. Ife Arowosoge has said the rejection of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s car gift by the former governor was done in the interest of Ekiti workers.

Arowosoge, who spoke during the inauguration of the Advisory Committee of the organisation, charged them to ensure the emergence of Chief Olusegun Oni at the primary election scheduled to hold in April, 2018.

Governor Fayose had last month presented all former governors of the state except Dr Kayode Fayemi with a car gift.

The Director General said: “Though, Fayose meant well with the gift, but the question is why does he have to wait till this time before giving out the cars.

“The former governors are entitled to it, it is their right and privilege, not only the car, but residential houses, even at the Federal Capital. Why then does he have to wait till when he has less than a year to leave the office before recognising them?

“The timing to give out a jeep of about N52 million at the time state, local government workers, and pensioners were being owed for several months were what we quarrelled with and not the gift.”

He told the seven-man Advisory Committee, which was inaugurated at the situation office, to secure 60 percent of the electoral votes for, Chief Segun Oni.

He said: “We cannot on our own alone achieve this feat, many good heads they say are better than few good ones. Apart from your love, loyalty and commitment to Asiwaju Olusegun Oni, we are counting on your experience, good track record of performance and reputation in your communities.”

Members of the committee include, Rt Hon Gbenga Odebunmi, Chief Biodun Akin-Fasae, Hon Bunmi Akinniyi, Mr Gbenga Obayemi, Dr Dare Ojo. Others are Mr Tunji Olatunde and Dr Bayo Arowolaju.

while the Secretary of SOCO and the Administrator of the office, Messrs Lekan Oyebanji and Fola Afolalu would represent the situation office on the committee.
