Alright, A little back story: So I've been playing video games ever since i was old enough to walk!, from Nokia phone snake game, to game boy (Colour and Advance) to Ps1, Ps2, Psp and so on..... I remember basically sitting in front of the TV playing Ps2 (mostly GTA or WWE) morning till night till whenever my Mumsie comes up to switch off the TV grin . Even in uni I'd spend all day playing FIFA with my guys(And kicking their a*** too cool ). So When I was 19(few yrs back) i got into game development.... you know, the only thing better than playing video games would be creating my own wink. I've created a lot of games over the years, but this year i decided to create something specifically for game lovers like myself, A game for gamers wink. This is actually my first game to be published, just published it on Google Play Store 3 days ago.

So If your'e a true gamer put your game knowledge to the test in this fun addictive game puzzle !

7. Cultivate Customer Loyalty
Last, but not least, the most important reason why you should consider building your own mobile app is customer loyalty. With all the noise out there — roadside banners, billboards, flashing signs, newspaper ads, flyers, coupons, websites, website banners, Facebook ads, and email marketing — we slowly lose our impact on customers because of the immense amount of advertising surrounding us all. It’s time to go back to making a true and sincere connection with your customers, and making them a loyal lover of your product and/or service. I am not saying a mobile app is going to save your business, but it can be a way of staying closer to your customers, and being just a “fingertip” away at all times.

Convinced yet? I am, for sure! Now that you have gotten a taste of the numerous benefits of your own business mobile app, where are you going to start?

You hire an app development agency or a free lance app developer.

Either way you go, a mobile app is going to be a standard component of any business in the future. The choice you make today is going set the foundation for the future of your business. It’s on you to decide whether you’d like to be one of the first.

5. Improve Customer Engagement
No matter whether you are selling flowers or spa services, your customers need a way to reach you. Having a messaging (or help desk) feature within your app can really make a difference in the way you communicate with your customers. Think about it: OpenTable, for example, built its entire business model around this principle. Instead of calling a restaurant for a table, you can book it with less than five clicks on their platform. Now think about it: How many customers would prefer to communicate with you via text than via phone?

6. Stand Out From the Competition
These days mobile apps at the small business level are still rare, and this is where you can take a big leap ahead of your competitors. Be the first in your neighborhood to offer a mobile app to your customers. They’ll be astonished by your forward-thinking approach!

2. Create a Direct Marketing Channel
Apps serve many functions: they can provide general info, prices, booking forms, search features, user accounts, messengers, news feeds, and much more.

One of the biggest benefits of having a mobile app is that all the information you’d like to provide to your customers – including special sales and promotions – is right at their fingertips. Through push notifications you’re getting even closer to a direct interaction, and can easily remind customers about your products and services whenever it makes sense.

3. Provide Value to Your Customers
Talking about on-hand information, how about digitalizing that loyalty program you have in place? Instead of sticking to the old point-collection card, make it possible for your customers to collect their rewards via your mobile app. The result? More downloads and more return customers. (Check out PunchMe, a service that lets you create smartphone-based loyalty programs.)

4. Build Brand and Recognition
A mobile app for your business can greatly contribute to your brand awareness. I’d like to break this topic down into two aspects, the combination of which will make your app a true winner:

Brand. A mobile app is like a blank billboard sign. You can do what you want with it; you can make it stylish, hip, functional, shocking, or informative. But what you really want to do is create an app that has features your customers will love, while at the same time is well branded and beautifully designed.
Recognition.
The more often you can get customers involved with your app, the sooner they will be inclined to buy your product and/or service. In advertising this is called the “effective frequency”: as a rule of thumb, hearing and/or seeing your brand approximately 20 times is what will get you truly noticed.

1. Be Visible to Customers at All Times
Statistics show that the average Nigerian spends more than three hours a day (!) on his or her mobile device. While probably only a handful of applications make up the bulk of this total usage, it doesn’t change the fact that each user has to unlock, scroll, and scan their device for the apps they’re looking for. Being “in the way” can be an advantage to your company, as our mind unconsciously does record every image and text (or well-designed app icon!) it comes across — even if it happens unnoticed.

Today I’d like to talk about mobile apps in combination with business, and why you should consider building a mobile app for your own company.

If you think that mobile apps are solely for big name brands like MTN and Jumia, you are wrong. More and more small and midsize businesses are following the mobile trend, understanding that an effective mobile strategy involves more than just a mobile-friendly website.

In fact, these days you’ll notice that many small businesses you interact with in your everyday life have their own dedicated mobile app — be it the corner coffee shop or the beauty spa downtown. These companies are ahead of the game when it comes to taking their marketing to the next level.

In case you are still not sure why anyone would want to build their own mobile platform, here are the top seven benefits of going down this path sooner rather than later.

I'd advice you to start with java. Its easy to learn, Object oriented and a very useful multipurpose language. Its the language used to write native android apps so if u want to code android/desktop apps....java is the way.

GamingRe: Why Are There No Game Developers In Nigeria? by CodePlay1(m):
@david banky, depends...I stay in Abuja.
but u can email me at dannyeze@ymail.com

@kaycee 7, yup..they were written in pure java. For 2d games I use images as sprites, I either download or draw images and cut out the background to be transparent then render them on the screen.

Every item on the screen is an image. Then for the game objects (players, enemies, power ups etc.), they all extend an abstract class "Sprite" which contains some information about them- the image to be rendered, x coordinate, y coordinate, collision boundary etc.
The game runs on a loop which is a separate thread that refreshes the canvas(display) 40 times per second (fps), so for instance if I want to move an object right, I just input "object.X++" in the loop method (this moves the objects x coordinate to the right by one unit every 1/40th of a second which gives the impression that it's moving - that's how animations work.
The background is a space image that moves downwards giving the impression that ur spaceship is moving forward. So it's just basically images rendering on a canvas.
Then for 3d games I use libGDX framework, it handles all the low level graphics programming (which I initially tried to learn but figured out it would take waay to long to master, and is also pointless cuz there are frameworks that handle that for u, also the maths involved is really intense and if not careful could turn u insane - coming from a maths don like me), but ull still have to learn a lot of vector physics and matrices.
LibGDX framework runs on opengl so it'll be helpful to learn the basics and concepts of openGL.

This is a screen shot of the game loop code and the actual gameplay (unfinished desktop version)

GamingRe: Why Are There No Game Developers In Nigeria? by CodePlay1(m):
There are many, but most of them just make projects on a low key and never finish them.
I'm a game developer myself (mainly mobile), I write games in java (I don't use a game engine, I might soon start using unity tho, but that's when I learn c#) and I've only made a few projects for fun but now I'm getting serious into the game development business(me and a friend) when I finish the current app I'm working on which I'll upload on play store probably next week. We've already started brainstorming ideas and have come up with a couple game ideas with we would soon put into action, but we need extra hands, developers, graphic artists, graphic designers etc

if ure interested in being part, hit me up - 09053159782. Sms/Call me, What's app is no longer supported on my phone (BlackBerry).

Edit - You can now text me on what's app, just updated to a current version which would still be valid till june.

And yes Nigerians are afraid to go into the business due to fear of failure, but think about it most successful people/companies failed countless times before they finally achieved. You just have to think of every failure as a lesson and learn from it, like Thomas Edison who failed 99 times before he invented electricity(if I remember correctly, I'm too lazy to Google it), and when asked about it he said "I didn't fail 99 times, I just figured out 99 ways NOT to create electricity", let's all try and replicate that attitude, it's not that we don't have the talent in Nigeria, it's the drive and perseverance.

My last 2 games...(These are screen shots from the testing phases so the models are prototypes)
