Education / Re: African Students For Liberty by Colmas(m): 6:57pm On Oct 13, 2016
Dear Friends of Liberty, Welcome to Students For Liberty’s website. Whether you’re a student, alumnus, or supporter, our online portal is full of resources and events we hope you’ll take advantage of. For Students SFL is not a top down, chapter based, membership organization. Instead, SFL functions as a network of pro-liberty students from a wide diversity of locations and backgrounds. We work with an array of student organizations across the many ideological positions within the philosophy of liberty. These include Young Americans for Liberty chapters, Students For Liberty groups, College Libertarians clubs, free speech clubs, economics clubs, Objectivist societies, and any other group that supports an idea or cause of liberty. No matter what your group’s specific name is, SFL is here to help anyone promoting a free society. Check out our Activism and Academy resources to learn about SFL’s resources and programs, such as our Campus Coordinator Program for current students. For Alumni The fight for for a free society does not end at graduation, which is why SFL makes a point of engaging with our alumni and supporters. All of SFL’s events are open to the public, such as our 50+ Regional Conferences across the world and our keynote International Students For Liberty Conference . Our Young Voices public relations program is available for aspiring political pundits and policy analysts. But, most importantly, Alumni For Liberty is our main vehicle for providing exclusive event and career opportunities to our supporters. Sincerely & For Liberty, Alexander McCobin President Students For Liberty

African Students For Liberty sprang out
from the efforts of young Africans to
stand up against the negative heritage
of tyranny and totalitarianism that has
plagued the continent for so long.
These young individuals are dedicated to
spreading the ideas of human dignity,
individual and economic freedom and
the ability to pursue one’s happiness
without coercion. African Students For
Liberty therefore provides a platform
for African students to generate and
share ideas that will lead to a
prosperous and liberated Africa.
Mission
Students For Liberty is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is
to provide a unified, student-driven
forum of support for students and
student organizations dedicated to
liberty.
What Liberty Means to SFL
Students For Liberty is an organization
that supports liberty. SFL does not
dictate the foundations upon which
individuals justify their belief in liberty.
Rather, Students For Liberty embraces
the diversity of justifications for liberty
and encourages debate and discourse on
the differing philosophies that underlie
liberty. What Students For Liberty
endorses are the principles that
comprise liberty:
Economic freedom to choose how to
provide for one’s life;
Social freedom to choose how to live
one’s life; and
Intellectual and academic freedom.
Theory of Social Change
SFL exists to empower students to
become leaders and agents of change in
their communities, particularly within
the university. Students are the
principal leaders, crafting our strategy,
and running programs to help fellow
students. All new SFL leaders, whether
Executive Board members, Campus
Coordinators, Charter Team Members,
and so forth, go through a rigorous
training program designed to teach
them how to become an effective leader
of liberty both generally and specifically
for their role. As part of this training,
all new leaders are given a 100+ page
SFL Leadership Handbook that covers
everything from what it means to be a
leader for liberty to effective
communication strategies.
The SFL Model
SFL is not a top down, chapter based,
or membership organization. Instead
SFL functions as a network of pro-
liberty students from a wide diversity of
locations and backgrounds.
We work with a diversity of student
organizations across the many
ideological positions within the
philosophy of liberty. These include the
campus Young Americans for Liberty,
Students For Liberty, College
Libertarians, free speech clubs, small “l”
libertarian association, economics club,
Objectivist society, Austrian Economics
reading group, Students for Individual
Liberty, and any other group that
supports an idea or cause of liberty.
History
Students For Liberty was founded in
2008 by a group of students who
wanted to make a difference by
supporting their fellow libertarian
students on campus. Libertarian student
groups had long been isolated from one
another and the larger liberty
movement. The initial Students For
Liberty Conference at Columbia
University was originally planned for
around 30 students, but demand far
exceeded those estimates and 100
students ended up attending the
conference in spite of a blizzard that
shut down most of the region.
From those humble beginning the
organization has grown each year to
keep up with the rapidly growing
demand and provide support to the
student movement for liberty. The most
recent International Students For
Liberty Conference in 2015 featured
over 1,5000 attendees.

Good lesson you must read
I remember when gaining admission into the University was still a problem. I had a friend that was lucky to gain admission before me. Whenever I went to visit him, his mother will tell me he is not at home. My friend started giving me attitude. He stopped coming to my house. I asked him what the problem was, he opened up and told me his mother had Warned him to stop associating with me because I might not be happy he gained admission, while I was still at home. Ah I cried Sha. Honestly I was pained. Fast forward 5 years later, I have gained admission, and even graduated, my friend was still in the University. It was a 5 Years course but he changed department and ended up spending 6 Years. His mother saw me in the neighborhood shortly after graduation and asked if I was on holiday. Holiday ke? Ma I have graduated. You can imagine the look on her face. Epic. Lol I graduated with 2nd class upper,a year later he graduated with 3rd class Some of us are guilty of this. *When we have a house filled with kids.... Our loyal friend struggling to have kids becomes an enemy. We push them away *Once we get married... Our loyal single friend becomes an enemy.. We push them away *Once we get a job... Our loyal jobless friend becomes an enemy.... We push them away. *Once we get to the top... Our loyal friends at the bottom becomes an enemy.... We push away. *When we are happily married... Our loyal friend that is unfortunately a widow or divorcee becomes an enemy.... We push them away *When we have food and water... Our loyal friend struggling to survive becomes an enemy... We push them away. *Nobody is your enemy, you are only being an enemy to them.. We quickly forget... Life is not static. It moves and changes as we experience along.. . When you condemn a situation along with the person in the situation. You are only gambling. At the end, the winner is always the person you condemned, the person you least expected. This is food for thought. Have a great week.... as you ponder on this.. # still thinking…. For every loyal friend ,keep being loyal and your time will come I choose to be loyal till the very end. # copied
