Hello sir,

A friend of ours has a plus 2 years old male Lhasa Apso who is seemingly uninterested in mating females in heat even when the dams don't resist or act aggressive towards him.

Sometimes he tries to mount females and trust but would lose interest after few attempts. He also don't like being assisted during mating as he will simply growl and leave.

His last successful tieing during mating was about 7 weeks ago but the female is clearly not pregnant.

You can imagine what the assumption is.

Please what could be the reason for this problem and how can it be corrected.

Good morning Sir and sorry for the delay. First, I'll advice you to change your dog's location to a cleaner and less damp environment
Secondly, Its better you take your pet to a vet clinic where proper examination would be done and perhaps Ivermectin inj may be given to fight the parasite from within. Alternatively, if you don't have access to veterinary services you can get oral Ivermectin in any vet pharmacy and I'll guide you on how to administer
Lastly, get Armitraz bath which you'll dissolve in water and use to bath your dog weekly till you reduce it to fortnightly then monthly. I hope this helps and please update me on any development!!!

YES!! There has been huge improvement, she is becoming very active and less sleepy these days. The vet recommended the drug Neurovit for her.

What you just need to do now, is to keep your dog in a cool and warm place, avoid stress to the affected area and give food rich in Calcium and other minerals like fish, meat and vegetables etc. You can occasionally exercise your dog when your dog gets relieved.
