EdiskyHarry: You see the problem we have in Africa is that most Africans don't have time to read and understand any thing, only to rush and comment just to be noticed, I will pardon your ignorance if you are a Muslim, but if not, you should have known that the Gospel of Christ teaches about humanity, to have a peaceful relationship with Everyone, which I have included in the comment you were quoting me. Shatap. I was born into a Christian home but I have since found that religion is a purveyor of conflict. Even now, you have gone as far as suggesting perhaps I am Muslim. Are those the only religions in this world? Many of you are brainwashed and cannot see beyond your parochial values. |

niaralandtopuser: no court will undermine the functions of a government agency here are some of the responsibility of, NERC: Regulates the generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity in Nigeria and with Nigeria; Licenses and inspects private and corporate electric power projects 10MW and above; where 1-10MW are issued Captive Licenses; Ensures the reliability of generation plants, high voltage transmission system and the zonal distribution system; Ensures occupational health and safety of persons involved with electricity in the whole sector. Monitors and investigates energy markets; Uses civil penalties and other means against energy organizations and individuals who violate NERC rules in the energy markets; Administers accounting and financial reporting regulations and conduct of regulated companies. What do you mean no court? It would be done and we would spend years arguing over the injunction rather than the substance. In addition, the press, supported by many online urchins would turn it into a tribal/partisan affair as many are already doing here. |

Duggedised12: lol, psychology has it that those who are guilty of something assume the other person does it too to sooth their bugging conscience . i wish i was tho ,atleast paying between 10-15k for electricity bill for a electricity that we sometimes don't see for two weeks every month would have made it less annoying. Go back to your previous post. Perhaps it might resonate with this statement. |
Politics › Re: Power Generation Falls To 2,970MW On Discos’ Demand by Commentor: 6:25am On Aug 26, 2019 |
niaralandtopuser: it is the job of the government to regulate electricity distribution companies through an agency call NERC. NERC can even sanction or takeover any company that is not meeting up but corruption won't allow that. NERC cannot. There would be court injunctions for eons by which time the very people the government is fighting for would begin their campaign against any further action. |

I would have expected buhari to focus on distribution and tackle it. Sometimes I despair with you guys. What intervention do you want government to do with private businesses that you would not complain about? Didn't we read about government trying to buy them out of their contracts not up to 2 weeks ago? Didn't you see how many of you criticised the same plan? |

APCHaram: Why won't they reject power from GENCOs when they are given free reign to use estimated billing. Let them all be forced to roll out pre-paid meters or be forced to close.
With the current arrangement of estimated billing, these DISCOs can choose to reject power from GENCOs because with or without power supply they will come with their regular monthly bill.
There are legislation already in place to compel the DISCOs to stop estimated billing but for 4yrs Fashole refused to enforce it on the DISCOs but rather sided with them to increase tarrif rates for no just reason.
Also power supply is heavily politicised as there is an unwritten order to supply both the NW and SW much of the power generated so as to appear that power supply has improved leaving the rest of the country in darkness.
Even at that, most of the power supply to the north is virtually free especially in rural areas.
The subsidy the north enjoys can even be seen from the billing rates for each zone with the SS and SE recording the highest rates while the SW and NW, the lowest even though most of the GENCOs are located in the SS and SE. Every analysis you guys make must be tainted with tribal sentiments. |

Is there a provision in the Federal character that says he should appoint based on how he was voted?

Nwadiuto247: Tribalism went high since Buhari became president. It will definitely go down when he leaves Aso Rock.
We can't continue like this for long.
Check out other northern leaders, the governors, Senate President Lawan and some others, they are not tribalistic like Buhari. Its only El Rufai and a few others that are tribalistic like Buhari.
A bridge builder is what we need in 2023 and all the tribal tension will reduce When has Buhari ever made a statement praising or condemning any tribe? |
