This is blanket generalization. It's very wrong.

The advise should be that men should be logical and look out for their interests while dealing with women, irrespective of where the woman comes from.

Men are always logical except when dealing with women. Then they become emotional and reason with their 3rd leg.

Women are always emotional except when dealing with men. Then they become logical and use their brain.
Read the book before you assume. The title is a marketing strategy.

RomanceOver 1,000 Nigerian Men Sign Up To Marry Foreign Women. by CommunityWatch(op):
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Over 1,000 Nigerian Men Sign Up to Marry Foreign Women.

Project Exodus: A New Dawn for Cross-Border African Marriages.

Lagos, Nigeria – January 6, 2025 – In a groundbreaking initiative that is reshaping the narrative of love and partnership across the African continent, Project Exodus has emerged as a dynamic matchmaking platform connecting Nigerian men with women from other African nations. Since its inception as a small Facebook campaign last year, Project Exodus has grown exponentially, registering over 1,000 Nigerian men and successfully facilitating 16 weddings across multiple African countries.

Project Exodus was born out of a desire to redefine modern relationships for Nigerian men. Against the backdrop of evolving societal dynamics, many young professionals in Nigeria have turned to the platform in search of meaningful, authentic connections. The organization’s mission is simple but ambitious: to create lasting relationships that transcend borders and foster unity within the African continent.

Speaking about the vision, the founder of Project Exodus, Ola Akanni, remarked, “Love knows no boundaries. We aim to connect hearts across Africa, breaking stereotypes and building bridges. Our success stories are a testament to the fact that shared values and mutual respect are the cornerstone of any successful relationship.”

For many Nigerian men, Project Exodus offers a refreshing alternative to traditional matchmaking avenues. A significant number of members have cited dissatisfaction with what they perceive as an increasingly transactional approach to relationships in Nigeria. According to one participant, “Nigerian ladies have reduced love to a money affair. It feels like love is for sale to the highest bidder. Project Exodus has given me hope that I can find someone who values love for what it truly is.”

This sentiment has resonated widely, with the platform’s Facebook campaign quickly gaining traction among Nigerian professionals. Within a year, Project Exodus has registered thousands of men from various fields, including medicine, engineering, education, and entrepreneurship.
Project Exodus has facilitated connections between Nigerian men and women from Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi, South Africa, and Tanzania. These matches have resulted in 16 marriages to date, with several more engagements underway. The couples’ stories highlight the transformative power of cross-cultural relationships.

One of the platform’s first success stories is that of Adewale, a software engineer, and Mutesi, a school teacher from Kigali, Rwanda. Reflecting on their journey, Adewale shared, “I never imagined I would meet someone from a different country, let alone fall in love. Mutesi and I share similar values and dreams, and despite our cultural differences, we have found common ground and built a strong bond.”

The rapid growth of Project Exodus underscores the demand for innovative matchmaking solutions that address the unique challenges faced by today’s young professionals. What started as a grassroots initiative has blossomed into a movement, with thousands of participants from across Nigeria and partnerships with matchmaking organizations in other African countries.

The platform employs a robust vetting process to ensure that participants are serious about their search for love. Each member undergoes a comprehensive profile verification process, including background checks and personality assessments, to enhance compatibility and ensure the safety of all participants.

Beyond matchmaking, Project Exodus is committed to fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding between its participants. The platform organizes virtual meetups, cultural orientation programs, and relationship workshops to help couples navigate the complexities of cross-border relationships. By providing resources and support, Project Exodus empowers its members to build successful partnerships rooted in respect, trust, and shared aspirations.

“Our goal is not just to facilitate marriages but to create unions that thrive,” said Akanni. “We want to see these relationships flourish and become symbols of unity and cooperation across Africa.”

While Project Exodus has achieved remarkable success, it is not without its challenges. Cross-border relationships often come with logistical hurdles, such as long-distance communication, visa processes, and cultural adjustments. To address these issues, the organization offers personalized counseling and support services to help couples navigate these complexities.

The initiative has faced criticism from some quarters, with detractors questioning the motivations behind the matches and the sustainability of such unions. However, Akanni remains undeterred, emphasizing the importance of breaking stereotypes and challenging conventional norms. “Every great idea faces resistance at first,” he said. “What matters is the positive impact we are making on people’s lives.”

Project Exodus is more than just a matchmaking platform; it is a pan-African movement that celebrates the diversity and unity of the continent. By connecting people across borders, the initiative is fostering a sense of shared identity and purpose among African nations. This aligns with broader efforts to promote regional integration and collaboration within the African Union and other continental frameworks.

The future looks bright for Project Exodus as it continues to expand its reach and impact. Plans are underway to launch a mobile app that will streamline the matchmaking process and provide additional features, such as language translation tools and virtual date options. The organization is also exploring partnerships with tourism boards and cultural organizations to enhance the experience for participants.
“We are just getting started,” said Akanni. “Our vision is to connect millions of Africans and create a new narrative for love and relationships on the continent.”

Project Exodus invites young Nigerian men and women across Africa to join the movement and explore the possibilities of love beyond borders. Interested individuals can visit the organization’s website or follow them on social media to learn more about the registration process and upcoming events.

Project Exodus is a pioneering matchmaking organization dedicated to connecting Nigerian men with women from other African countries. Founded in 2024, the platform aims to promote authentic, cross-cultural relationships that celebrate the diversity and unity of Africa. With a commitment to fostering lasting connections and empowering its members, Project Exodus is redefining the landscape of modern relationships on the continent.

Exposing the Unscrupulous Practices of Palm Credit: Predatory Lending, Privacy Violations, and Harassment.

In recent years, Nigeria's digital lending sector has experienced explosive growth, providing accessible financial services to many underserved communities. However, this growth has also given rise to predatory practices, privacy violations, and harassment by some digital lenders. Among the most notorious is Palm Credit, operated by New Edge Finance Limited, which has been widely accused of unethical conduct, including breaching borrowers' privacy, charging excessive fees, and employing illegal debt recovery methods.

This report highlights the disturbing experiences of borrowers subjected to Palm Credit's exploitative practices, with the aim of urging immediate regulatory intervention to protect consumers and uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
Predatory Lending and Unethical Practices

Palm Credit has drawn criticism for its exorbitant interest rates and inflexible loan repayment structures. Borrowers report being charged interest rates as high as 50%, coupled with a lack of transparency about loan terms. This leaves many borrowers financially trapped, unable to meet their repayment obligations due to excessive costs and punitive late payment fees.

Additionally, Palm Credit does not offer a moratorium period to borrowers, leaving no room for flexibility in cases of financial emergencies. For instance, one borrower reported taking a N250,000 loan through the Palm Credit app and repaid N130,000 over several installments. Despite their ongoing efforts to settle the balance, they faced harassment and compounding fees that made it nearly impossible to break free from the debt cycle.

Unauthorized Late Payment Fees and Exploitation
Borrowers also allege that Palm Credit imposes unauthorized and excessive late payment fees, even in cases where borrowers provide legitimate reasons for delays. A borrower affected by salary disbursement delays caused by technical issues at their bank explained that despite notifying Palm Credit of the situation, the platform showed no leniency, instead imposing punitive fees that worsened their financial distress.

Such inflexibility demonstrates a blatant disregard for the borrower’s situation and calls into question Palm Credit’s adherence to fair lending practices.

Breach of Privacy Laws and Harassment
One of the most egregious accusations against Palm Credit involves its deliberate violation of borrower privacy, employing tactics that are both illegal and unethical:

1.Contacting Borrowers’ Contacts Without Consent:
Palm Credit routinely accesses the phonebooks of borrowers without authorization and sends unsolicited messages to their family members, friends, and colleagues. This not only breaches Nigeria’s Data Protection Regulations (NDPR) but also constitutes a gross violation of privacy.

2.Defamation and Slander:
Borrowers report that Palm Credit’s agents send defamatory messages to their contacts, falsely accusing them of fraud or labeling them as criminals. These messages are often designed to shame borrowers into repayment and contain misleading or outright false information.

3.Threats and Blackmail:
Palm Credit agents allegedly issue threats of legal action, public humiliation, and even arrest if payments are not made immediately. These threats, delivered through calls and text messages, are often exaggerated or baseless, adding psychological pressure to already distressed borrowers.

4.Spreading Lies About Borrowers:
Numerous reports indicate that Palm Credit’s agents fabricate damaging lies about borrowers, portraying them as scammers or untrustworthy individuals to their personal and professional networks. These actions can have devastating impacts on borrowers’ reputations, relationships, and mental health.

One borrower recounted receiving a barrage of calls from family members and colleagues, who had been contacted by Palm Credit agents. These agents falsely claimed that the borrower had absconded with loaned funds, effectively tarnishing their reputation and causing severe emotional distress.

The Bigger Picture: Impact on Borrowers and Public Trust
The combination of exorbitant interest rates, unauthorized fees, privacy violations, and harassment creates a toxic environment for borrowers. Instead of helping individuals achieve financial stability, Palm Credit’s practices perpetuate cycles of debt and emotional trauma.
Such behavior also undermines trust in Nigeria’s financial institutions, deterring people from engaging with formal financial services. This is especially concerning in a country striving to expand financial inclusion and empower underserved communities.

Legal and Regulatory Implications

Palm Credit’s actions violate several laws and regulations, including:
1.Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR): Unauthorized access to borrowers’ phonebooks and the dissemination of private information to third parties is a clear violation of Nigeria’s privacy laws.

2.Consumer Protection Laws: The use of harassment, blackmail, and defamatory tactics violates consumer protection regulations and ethical debt recovery standards.

3.Banking and Lending Regulations: Excessive interest rates and punitive fees may breach Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines on lending practices.

Call for Regulatory Action
In light of these egregious violations, it is imperative that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) take urgent action against Palm Credit. Recommended measures include:

1.Immediate Investigation:
Conduct a thorough investigation into Palm Credit’s operations, including their lending terms, interest rates, late payment fees, and debt recovery practices.

2.Enforcement of Privacy Laws:
Impose strict penalties for violations of the NDPR, including the unauthorized use of borrower data and dissemination of private information.

3.Sanctions and Compensation:
Hold Palm Credit accountable for their predatory practices and harassment tactics, and require compensation for borrowers affected by defamation, unauthorized charges, or emotional distress.

4.Debt Collection Oversight:
Establish clear regulations to curb unethical debt recovery practices, including restrictions on contacting third parties and guidelines for ethical communication with borrowers.

5.Transparency in Lending:
Mandate that digital lenders provide clear and accessible information about loan terms, interest rates, and fees to ensure borrowers can make informed decisions.

Palm Credit’s practices represent a clear abuse of trust and power, exploiting borrowers while violating their privacy and dignity. The Nigerian government and regulatory bodies must act swiftly to curb these unethical practices, restore consumer confidence, and ensure that financial institutions operate in a manner that prioritizes transparency, fairness, and respect for borrowers.

Borrowers must not be subjected to harassment, defamation, or exploitation under the guise of debt recovery. It is time for decisive action to hold Palm Credit and similar platforms accountable, ensuring a safer and more equitable financial environment for all Nigerians.
This report calls on affected borrowers to report such practices to the FCCPC and CBN Consumer Protection Department, while also encouraging regulatory authorities to intervene to uphold justice and consumer rights.
