Only about 5–10% of people who came in on a study visa paid their full tuition fees upfront or nearly so. Most paid just the deposit and worked here to cover the remaining balance. If the job you had while studying enabled you to pay off fees of £10–15k, why isn’t it generating similar income now that you are no longer paying the school? The only additional expense after finishing school is council tax, which averages around £200 per month. Everything else—rent, bills, and groceries—remains largely the same. Now, with the ability to work full-time compared to the 20-hour limit as a student, it’s reasonable to expect you should be earning and saving even more. There are people that do not just know how to manage their life finances and would rather blame their income instead of their spending lifestyle. The issue often comes down to misinformation. Is it realistic for someone to earn so little? Many Nigerians who arrived 2–3 years ago have managed to buy homes, with deposits of at least £15k. Others are buying or upgrading cars with cash and not finance. Don’t let a few people who might not want you to thrive discourage you or mislead you into thinking this isn’t achievable. The opportunities are here—don’t let fear or bad advice hold you back, as long as you are not both physically or intellectually lazy, success is guaranteed for you. |
