A collection of rejection cases on Nairaland

Though we don't get many of this (for good reason!), there have been a few cases of rejection here on nairaland. I managed to collect a few. If you are aware of more cases, point them my way and I'll include them here.

At least one person was rejected because CIC erroneously ignored his POF details. The major funds were in his domiciliary account which CIC did not pay attention to. This made them issue him a rejection. He wrote them an email and this was eventually corrected. They issued him PPR shortly after.
Suggestion: Ensure to put together a cover page listing your POF details or breakdown, if you are using more than one sources for POF.


Another person was rejected because he/she "murked up the PCC." The UK Police Report was outdated. "The police report I sent for my time in the UK was dated before I stopped living there and as such my application was thrown out."
Suggestion: Get your POF right.


Someone shared a story of two guys whose applications were rejected for POF-related reasons. Even though these guys met the POF requirement, their lump sum deposits were perhaps frowned at. Note that there is no proof to this story; someone merely shared it.
Suggestion: Perhaps avoid lump sums


Someone also related the story of a couple rejected for FBI PCC even though LOEs were attached. Further investigation revealed LOEs were attached in additional documents placeholder and not under PCC placeholder.


A Nairalander was once rejected because CIC did not see the valid biodata page. Both the expired and valid biodata pages were uploaded. The valid one was probably not spotted by the case officer and this led to outright rejection.
Suggestion: Upload only valid biodata page.


Another person threatened with rejection for POF-related issues. POF incomplete


Someone relates story of a rejection due to wrongly stated family composition. Person "added a child and also the post ITA marriage certificate. the refusal was because from the date of the certificate, the only dependent should have been the spouse, meaning she lied pre ITA about her dependents"


At least one person was rejected for NOC mismatch. "The NOC I based my application on did not have a good match with the employment letter I submitted hence the refusal."

Another was initially refused based on "insufficient funds"

- Class of degree has no effect on CRS
- If you post your JD, we could help you match them to an appropriate NOC. An accountant in an oil company wouldn't search amongst the engineering-related NOCs. It's possible you're searching in the wrong areas.
- Employment letter, promotion letters (if any), e-mail correspondences (would be a more persuasive evidence if your official mail is hosted on the Company's domain), payslips etc

Isn't it funny how life is? Someone with HND and OND has more value (more points) than someone with a 1st class. In this journey, no difference between 1st class and 3rd class. Lol

IDP is a fraud if yiu are not careful, they will not even send your EOR to Australia they will send you authomatic letter that your result has remained unchanged. I had to contact Australia to find out my EOR did not leave Nigeria. Ontop 46k

It's with a heart filled with sorrow and bitterness I am writing this post.... I am epileptic and have been suffering from this very sickness for the past three years.....

I am 20yrs old and dropped out from secondary school on 2013.

It happened one night on december 2013 that I was strolling to my room without torch-light that something pinched me on my leg uptill today I still can't understand what that was and I don't if that was what caused this type of sickness to me..

My mother and father are not epileptic and there is no record of any of their relatives that had it before.

On the early year of 2014 one of my uncle introduced me to one of his friends and told me that I will stay with him and serve him and after six years he will settle me and I am presently serving him and here is where I started having this sickness..

I am living alone because he has two shops and I am handling one of them and by God grace I am doing fine here.

I felt this way too when I was denied in 2015 I wept profusely but I knew what went wrong.

My husband is a farmer is not keen abt vacation but because I wanted to give birth then he had no option but the VO said I have travelled 5times without my husband why did we make US our 1st family trip,we explained but he wasn't convinced. Within me if I had gone alone I would have got it.

My aunt was denied visa too 2015 with her baby singlemum,2016 she applied alone she got it and travelled alone.2017 she applied for her baby.

Apply alone 1st and go,ur children are your ties and apply with them later or make a family trip to somewhere else

1. You just said you filled something different on your application and answered another one in your interview.

2. No travel history for you or your kids and your sister.

3. You are going to see your COUSIN but you don't know what your supposed cousin does for work.

4. How come you are taking your sister with you?

5. You are not married and there is nothing holding you back apart from your job - which you can easily run from.


I think you should do a trip to sa or dubai with your family.

I applied for the non-immigrant visa on the 17th of October but I couldn't upload my passport photograph and was directed to bring a 5cm by 5cm passport -like photo to my interview (on the confirmation page )

I read on this platform that anyone without a passport will be turned back.

Kindly put me through so I don't shoot myself in the foot

Good day house, I have been a guest long enough, I have been following silently long enough, so today. I will share my experience.
I applied for B1/B2 visa for me, my two sons (6, 4)and my sister, (14years) and we were scheduled for interview today. Below is my transcript.

First when we went in after all the clearance, we were directed to window 5.(abuja embassy) the lady there only took my little sister's finger print. and said that's all she needs. We then went to line up.
Unfortunately for them(not me shaa) against all my prayers there it was that very wicked VO in window 6 that was dashing yellow paper out like it's some naira bills that we were lucky enough to be in front. OK.. .

Vo:.... Ma'am... Please give me your passport
Me:.... Here: Good morning (gave her all four)
Vo:..... You are with them all... . (can't remember how ... ... she actually said it)
Me:..... Yes, my two sons and my sister, I touched them
VO... (looks at her system) mentions my sister's name' .. ...... .. is your sister, and 'mentions my sons name' are .. you sons..?
Me:..... Yes ma'am.
Vo:....... Have you travelled before?
Me:...... No
Vo:..... Where are you going to?
Me:. .. .New York
VO:..... who are you going to see
Me:..... My cousin, (mention's her name)... (though I mistakenly choose 'sibling' while filling the DS 160. ....... form, didn't tell her this though but I guess she .... .... .. can see that anyway

Me: I repeated same things I told her initially. Not words to words though. I think it's this time I stressed the fact that joining our jet to US will greatly bring down cost for me. And the kid's always asking to travel on holidays like their mates at school...

Vo:.... Unfortunately ma'am... You are not qualified for a visa, go through the paper, bla bla blah... Gave me a yellow paper.

I almost froze, after all the plenty questions? Thought we would have broken the jinx of her not giving out visa this morning, after all the Visa fees for 4.? cry cry cry I ve been so sad since morning though. Didn't wanna talk to anybody. Didn't wanna eat. Been sleeping since then. Just woke up and decided to share this with you my wonderful family.

Please tell me where I went wrong, what could be done to right it. I really want to go with our jet and crew,.. They will be leaving by 2nd or 3rd week of December. (by the way..two of our pilots are Americans, they were begging me to have them send an invitation for us. And be our contact person. Cause I don't know, maybe it's cause I used my cousin or what.) and if I can go with my family, I will be the happiest person on earth. I love my job. And can't even think of leaving my mum here, that will kill her. I and my sister (adopted though) are her only kids. If I can reject every marriage proposals just to be with her and take care of her, why then will I even think of leaving her. If I am ever gonna relocate anywhere, I have to take her there first. no way.

I am just baring my whole heart to you people as I don't know what else to do, who else to talk to. My mum is happy somehow though. I won't mind her. wink wink
